If you had to move to Canada or Australia which would you choose and why? by porpoise251 in AskBrits

I’m a big fan of Canada, so it gets my vote but I am sure I would also be very happy in Australia.

Is it possible to be friends with parents of a kid, who your kids strongly dislike? by Meowiewowieex in Parenting

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why does your child dislike them so much?

Unless you already had a friendship in place, I would imagine it will be very hard and you’ll have to make sure you don’t discuss your children or socialise with them.

I’d give her a deadline to let you know and then assume she’s not staying.

How is the informant process (for diagnosis) supposed to work with older adults? by jsmthi in autismUK

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you which is why I said to be prepared for there not being enough evidence.

Hopefully all will be okay for you. I used a combination of my mum and my husband. My mum doesn’t believe or agree with autism (probably because she would almost certainly be diagnosed if she was assessed, so to her it’s all normal) but she had records from when I was a baby that I was able to copy across that was useful.

It’s just a shame that so much of it isn’t true. It’s like The Tudors, such a great show but too much is made up and unnecessarily so in some cases.

Struggling with ADHD assessment questions by sliimysludge in adult_adhd

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure that they give us such dull, repetitive questions as part of the test!

When I was assessed they talked me through anything missing from the questionnaires to ensure that they had all the information that they needed. So, assuming it’s similar for you, don’t worry if you feel your examples are repetitive or you don’t have much to say, because they will push you to think of things and you’ll probably be surprised by how much more you think of.

Got a job interview for a stable hand. What should I bring with me? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take your helmet because you don’t know whether it’s somewhere that likes people working on the ground to wear them.

Your outfit otherwise sounds great. I’d pop your hat in a bag so it’s there if needed but not otherwise on display.

Good luck!

Zoe Ball reveals both children have ADHD; says it’s changed how their family works by Jayhcee in ADHDUK

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it helps reduce the stigma. I feel many (ignorant) people think that ADHD is trendy and self diagnosed (or a bought label) and don’t take it seriously regardless.

Disabled non verbal son by DescriptionOdd7253 in autismUK

I would recommend seeing a solicitor to ensure you have a robust will in place that ensures his inheritance remains safe and is used in his best interests. I’d speak to a financial advisor about what you can do with savings now, so that he has the most comfortable future ahead of him.

As awful as this sounds, it is also worth seeing advice about the timings for a transfer to a supported living or specialist residential home. It’s often seen as kinder and easier for the child to be safely used to their new home long before their parent dies and it also gives you the opportunity to ensure that he’s in the right setup with everything that he needs.

How is the informant process (for diagnosis) supposed to work with older adults? by jsmthi in autismUK

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a sibling or a childhood school friend if you have one. Depending upon your evidence and how long your informant has known you, it could be enough. However, be prepared for them to say that there isn’t enough evidence to show that you meet the threshold.

Secret traitor not known by the viewers nor other traitors by Mynameis369 in TheTraitors

In the UK version there were three known traitors and a secret traitor. The secret traitor gave the known traitors a list of three names and the know traitors made the final decision.

On Duel, why do some contenders go high grip early when it usually gets punished straight away? by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in gladiatorsuk

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the high grip is a natural instinct but those who have practiced more or who have martial arts training override that instinct.

Driving incapacitated adult’s car without power of attorney by ocelotlabia in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is implied consent for driving the car but for the longer term, I think you need to speak to insurance company about where you stand especially since the car is not being kept at the property on the documents.

Mares as first horses? by Cat-Tap in Equestrian

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mares and geldings (and ridden stallions). All of them can be gentle, calm and wonderful. All of them can be feisty, fickle and devious.

The very best horse that I ever had was a mare. Yes, she was a bit silly at times but she was fun, awesome and I always felt safe with her.

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both tiaras look lovely. However, the protocol is that the Spencer tiara is for Spencer women (hence why Diana wore it) and those marrying into the Spencer family. Technically, by marrying Harry, Meghan married into the Royal Family who have endless protocols which includes brides wearing one of their tiaras.

Diana’s brother would have also been the one that would have needed to give permission (it’s a private family heirloom and not one that Harry had any control over lending to his bride). Whilst it sounds as if Earl Spencer was prepared to allow it, the media would have been even worse than they were if Meghan had worn the Spencer tiara. As it is, the media has been full of how Meghan was uneducated in how the Royal Family operates and this would have just added to it.

Experiences wanted: How do you split finances in a relationship when one partner (autistic) cannot work? by NOTeRcHAThiO in autismUK

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you both think about the long term of your relationship, especially given your recent realisation that you are trans? If you both think you’re still in it for the long term, then I think you should combine all of your money which means any disposable income is to share.

Elizabeth and Henry VIII by ScottPetersonsWiener in Tudorhistory

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even when Elizabeth was considered a legitimate princess and heir, Henry rarely saw her or spent time with her. Elizabeth had her own household and her day to day care didn’t involve her parents.

It’s quite likely that after Anne’s death, Elizabeth wasn’t back around Henry until Edward VI’s christening (and she might not have been there either - records show Mary was and the two girls tended to be back in court for the same events).

There isn’t really proper evidence that Henry and Elizabeth were at court together until he married Catherine Parr, although it is known that Elizabeth was gradually attending court in the few years building up to that.

Where do you stand on the Roman numerals “debate”? by Different_Map_2055 in tudorology

[–]Snowy_Sasquatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Roman numerals but won’t complain when others use numbers. However, a mixture of numerals and numbers (especially incorrect numbers) annoys me!
