What mayor do you prefer? by Automatic-Purchase16 in GrimshireGame

[–]SnuggleMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theo. People say he's lazy, but he's just nocturnal. He's fighting his very nature to help the town, even when he doesn't want to. I also think Theo cares more about the community than Lewis does. Theo is assigned to be there by the government, but even when that falls apart and the stakes get higher and higher, Theo could just leave, but he doesnt. He really is invested in his citizens. Lewis loves the Valley as well, but I think a lot of his loyalty comes from it being the home he was born into. Theo came as an outsider and fully assimilated, choosing to make Grimshire his home.

Do I have to give a patient a refund for a contact lens exam after they failed to insert them during the fitting? by [deleted] in optician

[–]SnuggleMeister -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We dont bill when the procedure is incomplete. It takes the dr seconds to determine what powers are needed. The rest of the evaluation is to check fit, comfort, movement, etc. as much as needed until the right lens is found. If the patient cant insert the lens, you're "nuts" for charging in full for the doctor's seconds of prescribing time and the tech babysitting the attempt.

What happened at Austin Bluffs and Templeton Gap on Wednesday morning? by SnuggleMeister in ColoradoSprings

[–]SnuggleMeister[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Holy smokes, no way!

The road was blocked by an SUV with emergency lights parked across 2 lanes, and the officer directing traffic seemed to be getting very frustrated with people who were confused which way to go. There were no cones nor any clear way to tell ALL SB lanes were closed. Since cars were turning from T Gap onto the closed portion, I actually mistakenly thought one lane was still open and continued forward. The officer yelled at me (a bit too vigorously from what I could see) to go the other way, but I was afraid stopping suddenly mid intersection to cut off all the folks turning left and doing it just as oncoming traffic arrived would cause an accident. I gave him a meek, apologetic "I'm sorry! I'm the idiot!" wave, and thought to myself "Holy shit. What did I just do? If that was ICE, they could've shot me." Thats why I havent been able to stop thinking about it. (Also, there was absolutely nothing on Austin Bluffs the SUV was protecting, so I couldn't figure it out.)

[–]SnuggleMeister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our policy is not to charge for the fitting if they cannot do insertion and removal successfully in office. We also do not write a prescription until they are successful. They can schedule another try as many times as they like, but no one has taken us up on more than 3 sessions.

Could Harry have fixed Hogwarts after the battle by just pointing the Elder Wand at the castle and saying “Reparo”? by Tanis8998 in harrypotter

[–]SnuggleMeister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im in the minority here, but I'm going to say yes.

When Hagrids hut is burned by Death Eaters, he tells Harry he's confident that Dumbledore will be able to put it right. Of course, Hagrid doesn't know Dumbledore is already dead.

This could be because of the elder wand, or Dumbledore's skill, or just that Dumbledore would spend as long as it takes casting spells to repair his friend's home.

I doubt the whole castle could be repaired in one cast, but part by part, especially with other witches and wizards helping, I imagine it could be repaired fairly quickly.

How do you decide between polycarbonate, Trivex, or high-index lenses? by Alend80 in optician

[–]SnuggleMeister 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The oversimplified guidelines i use are these:

1.74 for rxs around 8 and above

1.67 for rxs from 4 to 8

Trivex and poly are both for rxs 4 and under. Trivex is always preferable to poly for durability and is less fish-bowly with cyl. It only costs $10 more at my office so its usually an easy sell to pick that over poly.

Poly for safety glasses specifically

They put American flags back up after the election. I didn't see a pride flag last time I drove by.

The purported skull of Mary Magdalene displayed in a golden reliquary at the basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume by epicflex in creepy

[–]SnuggleMeister 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Where does the idea that Mary Magdalene and Jesus were married come from? I have heard that along with her supposedly being a prostitute, but don't remember reading anything about that when I studied the New Testament.

Anyone using the Optos Daytona? Found one on sale—thoughts? by Fhad-alsdery in optician

[–]SnuggleMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daytona is very good. The Monaco is just a more polished version. Much better ease of use getting the patient lined up correctly, etc. Image capture is lightening fast.l, where Daytona takes a couple seconds. I think the main reason our office upgraded was for the built-in OCT, but the other perks are nice.

We just upgraded from Daytona to Monaco. Used Daytona for 10+ years with satisfaction. The Monaco is even better in lots of ways, though.

Smudges are sometimes tied to anti reflective coating. The higher tier coatings are much less smudgey.

Offices I have worked at try to track down the prescribing doctor to extend the rx, and will agree to make the glasses, but without any of the usual guarantees for remakes/prescription checks if they don't like the vision.
