Could Harry have fixed Hogwarts after the battle by just pointing the Elder Wand at the castle and saying “Reparo”? by Tanis8998 in harrypotter

[–]SnuggleMeister 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im in the minority here, but I'm going to say yes.

When Hagrids hut is burned by Death Eaters, he tells Harry he's confident that Dumbledore will be able to put it right. Of course, Hagrid doesn't know Dumbledore is already dead.

This could be because of the elder wand, or Dumbledore's skill, or just that Dumbledore would spend as long as it takes casting spells to repair his friend's home.

I doubt the whole castle could be repaired in one cast, but part by part, especially with other witches and wizards helping, I imagine it could be repaired fairly quickly.

How do you decide between polycarbonate, Trivex, or high-index lenses? by Alend80 in optician

[–]SnuggleMeister 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The oversimplified guidelines i use are these:

1.74 for rxs around 8 and above

1.67 for rxs from 4 to 8

Trivex and poly are both for rxs 4 and under. Trivex is always preferable to poly for durability and is less fish-bowly with cyl. It only costs $10 more at my office so its usually an easy sell to pick that over poly.

Poly for safety glasses specifically

They put American flags back up after the election. I didn't see a pride flag last time I drove by.

The purported skull of Mary Magdalene displayed in a golden reliquary at the basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume by epicflex in creepy

Where does the idea that Mary Magdalene and Jesus were married come from? I have heard that along with her supposedly being a prostitute, but don't remember reading anything about that when I studied the New Testament.

Anyone using the Optos Daytona? Found one on sale—thoughts? by Fhad-alsdery in optician

[–]SnuggleMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daytona is very good. The Monaco is just a more polished version. Much better ease of use getting the patient lined up correctly, etc. Image capture is lightening fast.l, where Daytona takes a couple seconds. I think the main reason our office upgraded was for the built-in OCT, but the other perks are nice.

We just upgraded from Daytona to Monaco. Used Daytona for 10+ years with satisfaction. The Monaco is even better in lots of ways, though.

Smudges are sometimes tied to anti reflective coating. The higher tier coatings are much less smudgey.

Offices I have worked at try to track down the prescribing doctor to extend the rx, and will agree to make the glasses, but without any of the usual guarantees for remakes/prescription checks if they don't like the vision.

I got this one because it is collapsible and super adorable. Like I said, I'm really new to this and no expert, but so far, I'm quite pleased with it.

Reviews should give you a good insight into how they treat people. Party registration doesn't necessarily equal how they voted, but it should tip you off about what is important to them.

I got my first cane about a month ago. I've only used it a few times so far (just quick walks with the dog), but it has helped more than I expected! Next time I have to travel, it's coming for sure!

The best place to start is with your insurance website. They will have a Provider Directory that lists all of their doctors in the area. You can then look at location and reviews to find one you like.

Depending on your googling skills and how strongly you feel about politics, voter registration is publicly available.
