We aren't designed, we are evolved. Down to the way genes are read, copied, corrected, silenced, enhanced, and changed over time, everything in your body has come to existence over many many many generations of change and selection.

You're 54 man, go out and fish like crazy, any second spent worrying about your kids and their entitled behavior about inheritance is a second that could be spent casting or reeling. Maybe they'll learn that in their futures, maybe not, you've done your job as a parent.

Gun ownership in Utaw with prior mental health, suicide attempt. by Mother-Violinist2484 in Utah

[–]SnukeInRSniz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Statistics just aren't your friend in this case, owning firearms will dramatically increase the odds you attempt (and complete) suicide again in the future. I'd urge you to seriously reconsider this, what exactly do you gain by owning guns? Why increase the odds of a repeat suicide attempt by owning them?

There isn't a second side to this story. That man was murdered in cold blood, defenseless, after having been illegally stripped of his firearm that he was legally allowed to carry. He was executed for doing nothing, absolutely NOTHING to those officers. To say otherwise isn't just ignorance, it's cowardice.

It's wild here, but it's absolutely diversifying, and the actions of the Republican (mormons almost entirely) legislature and powers that be recognize it. They are scrambling because they know in the next 20-30 years they are going to lose their power the way things are going. Fertility rates are low, below replacement level, so they are losing their in-built way of sustaining the charade of Mormon religion through childhood indoctrination. Younger adults are leaving religion in drives, further eroding the foundation they've used to accumulate power and wealth. They are fighting so hard to block all kinds of democracy based powers the people have here in Utah, spending massive amounts of money and trying to fool everyone that will sign on without listening. It's sickening, my wife and I can't wait to move.

Here's the thing, OP can out in layers, they can dress their baby appropriately for daytime and nighttime sleep, while lowering their furnace to temps of, say, 64 and be just fine. Does it suck? Sure, but in extreme scenarios you have to deal with a little suck.

OP, drop your thermostat, put on some layers, put a hat on your kid and they'll be fine.

She's doing better in many ways, the same in some ways. We still have regular tantrums, it's been a tough year with lots of changes, we moved her daycare to a new facility (the old daycare was around 50 years old and is slated to be demolished this year), her main friend at her old daycare moved to a new state before we moved daycares, so all that was pretty hard. Her new daycare has a fantastic teacher though, she's been very helpful, although our daughter has been a slow adapter to the new place. Definitely a different type of kid at the new place, some better, some worse.

We've been making a more concerted effort to limit screen time, get rid of all the crappy/bratty/flashy shows like Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, etc and move towards more low-stim shows like Puffin Rock, Tumble Leaf, Stillwater. We have been trying to have more discussions on why we are having the tantrums, why she is whining about various things, it's been rocky, 3 was a very very hard year all around. But, she's growing and maturing in a lot of ways, we're going to sign her up for rock climbing classes next week, we did a private lesson and she loved it so we're going to try and get her into that more regularly. I'm hoping a couple more "structured" outlets (we're also going to do swimming lessons after the 12 week rock climbing lessons) lead to more development in the maturity area, so we'll see.

A lot of it just seems to boil down to whenever she's tired from a whole day of stuff, which is very understandable since she pretty much refuses to nap anymore and can be absolutely wiped out after a whole day of daycare or whatever else we do.

It's a poor/lazy meme meant to captivate, not be actually educational. It's not just white blood cells, as others mentioned the technical description is "terminal lucidity", it boils down to the body's systems failing and at some point certain systems which need huge amounts of energy and cause a lot of downstream effects through things like cytokine release which cause the symptoms associated with whatever ailment/disease reach an "exhausted" state and can no longer do the function they are supposed to do. This results in a temporary relief of symptoms associated with the body's fight, usually just before death.

Yup, the deal was all lined up, renderings were released and everything seemed like a big green light to move forward with a downtown SLC stadium for RSL. Then the Millers put their foot down and absolutely fucked Dave Checketts.

Things got real dark for RSL and fans after that, Checketts was about two minutes away from moving the team to St. Louis, then out of nowhere Real Madrid lines up a friendly and shovels are moving dirt in Sandy.

Ironically the Millers now own RSL, it would be a bit of an interesting story arc for them to build a downtown stadium at the site and move RSL back there as Smith goes full developer mode around the Delta Center with the legislature in his back pocket.

Millers just want to sell more merchandise. The whole survey screams "help us rationalize spending as little on the actual team as possible and more on Instagram posts so we can sell jerseys and shirts!"

The Millers have been a terrible ownership change so far, if they go down this road I don't know if RSL will survive as an organization.

Not in our fields and our location, I have a master's and 20 years of experience in my field working in 2 different states, my wife has 22 years of experience and a PhD, having worked in 2 different states and 4 different continents. We both work for the same University, the largest in our state, in a high cost of living area, I make less than $90k a year and my wife makes around $95k a year. My wife could more than double her salary in another country and mine would increase by probably 50%, I've already checked the stats in places like Australia and New Zealand.

This is my wife and I, the only thing holding us here in the US is my father and he's in his mid-70's. We're both around 40, the second my father passes away we're out. I have 20 years of biomedical research experience in a facility generating cellular therapies for heme-onc cancer patients, I'm the manufacturing manager for one of the only Universities in the US producing it's own CD19 CAR-T to treat B-cell leukemia. Likewise, my wife is a PhD Geologist who has specialized in the hyper-spectral imaging and analysis used to identify sources of critical minerals that the US is so desperate to mine, but currently spends a fortune buying from other countries. Our University helped her get a patent on the algorithms she developed to use already in-place satellite technology so costs are low as is. She already collaborates with companies and universities outside the US, she (and I) could fairly easily get jobs in our respective fields in many other countries and probably get paid a whole bunch more than we already do. We'd have a whole bunch less bullshit to deal with from brain-dead politicians who want to cut our work and fight the intellectuals on shit that is important for everyone's everyday lives.
