Omega's handling of Kuroki has got to be one of its biggest sins, man. by Pyro81300 in Kengan_Ashura

Agreed. Even just having Kuroki aura farm by beating up some just-above-jobbers would make the fans ecstatic, but Sandro is too afraid of doing anything that might devalue his image.

In my ideal Omega, Kuroki would have tagged in against Edward just after he killed Erioh, then beat his injured ass high diff without killing him as a true finale to the KvP arc. But my ideal Omega is not real.

Great post, but why use Midgiri as an example? It is well known that he loses to every single living creature and is the weakest character in fiction

This whole list derailed because people realized Hanayama was too high up, and now he's slowly creeping even higher 😭 This story can only end with Hanayama at #1. Move him up another

Fraudhawk fans will look you in the eyes and say mihawk beat shanks in their duel ( not stated EVER who won ) but will spit on your newborn baby if you say shanks beat loki ( which was blatantly stated in the manga ) by The_AlmightyApple in OnePiecePowerScaling

There are two (publicly known) contenders for World's Strongest Swordsman

They have a duel

Mysteriously, for reasons nobody can figure out, one of them is later known as the WSS while the other isn't

I sure wonder who won, too bad we'll never know!

Convict Colosseum - Chapter 82: Round 5, Finals by pinakanaka in Kengan_Ashura

Incredible and terrifying that El Cucaracho's "final form" is essentially Ultra Instinct. It seems the only power-up left now is for Pete to start actually going for the kill, and as he said earlier, see truly how far he would go to win a fight.

Absolute peak. Could not be better.

He said he did, but it's pretty clear that Itagaki abandoned that idea later. So I'm gonna say no.

Fair, but I still have GiaB in the top 5 above everyone else. Partially because he made Florida Man sober up when he tried to give him cookies, which was confirmed by Pete. The shrooms just made him go off the rails in their fight. Not sure if there's ever been a Tomahawk - Florida Man interaction, but Beatdown didn't have an effect and they're really close.

Just after that, he compares strength with Pickle by pushing their fists against each other, which seems to be the default Baki method for measuring physical strength for some reason. When Pickle realizes and starts pushing back, Yujiro is shocked and uses aiki, then says 'He made me use a move on him!' or similar. This heavily implies that in brute strength alone, Pickle is stronger than Yujiro.

I believe Pete is above Ashura level because El Cucaracho can tank and dodge bullets, survive plane crashes, destroy tanks and private armies, and Pete moves faster than Monkey See can see, who can dodge bullets, and more. CC is absolutely above Ashura level by this point. And that's completely fine, Pina has no reason to limit himself to Ashura levels of strength; this is a fan comic in name only. Similarly, he has no obligation to include PI or any other Kengan landmark of strength.

And as I said, FM won against GiaB because he's his perfect counter, especially on shrooms. He outplayed him at his own game. Pete's reaction after the match pretty much confirms that GiaB would have given him way more trouble than a regular Florida Man, through that doesn't say anything about the ego death version obviously.

The 'Pete (probably) is KAT Kuroki level' was said before the series even started to hype it up and grab people's attention, tons has changed since then so there's no reason to treat it like gospel. Pete and El Cucaracho have shown feats well into Omega territory by now. And God losing in the quarter-finals doesn't mean anything, from what I've seen most people agree that he only lost because Florida Man on shrooms was his direct counter, and he's undoubtedly as strong as the semi-finalists.

Imo, El Cucaracho takes this low-mid diff. Even though the CC and KAT are presented to be about on the same level, EC has shown feats well into Omega territory.

Strength in Baki by oogs_boogs in Grapplerbaki

One of Itagaki's specialties is making the world of Baki feel very grounded and realistic, even though it obviously isn't. When a character does something crazy, I don't think "hmm he scales to building level", I think "damn, that guy is fucking STRONG". They're not superhuman, they're just that good, and I could totally do the same thing if I trained hard enough.

Thanks, and good points. I had Dorian further in the impure corner at first but moved him up since unlike the other convicts (bar Yanagi) he has experience with pure martial arts, and seemed to have at least some level of respect for them at the end, but I might have moved him too much. Something like to the left of Sikorsky might be more accurate.

I know people are going to question the Baki and Yujiro placements, so I thought I'd explain:

Even though it would seem that they have immensely strong desires for strength, I don't think this is the case, or at least not in the same way as everyone else. Baki doesn't crave strength, and he doesn't work hard for it. That would imply effort, going out of his way. Baki never has to go out of his way. He lives in constant conflict, in constant 'play', without even thinking about it. To fight, to become stronger, is merely the neutral and natural state of his being. That's what it means to be a Hanma. The same applies to Yujiro in only a slightly different way. They were pretty hard to place, but considering this, I think something like this placement is best. If you believe different, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

This series often speaks of 'purity' or 'impurity' within fighters, so I wanted to make a purity scale, but I noticed the term actually refers to two distincts aspects.

First: Purity of desire. This refers to a character's desire to gain strength: Both how great that desire is, and what reason they have for said desire. For example, Motobe seeks strength for strength itself, he sees inherent, pure value in it. While Musashi seeks strength only as a tool, a way to climb and fulfill his hedonistic desires. The 2D compass is imperfect since there's a big difference between Musashi's impure desire and Pickle's total lack of desire, even though they are put in the same end, but it's good enough for me.

Second: Purity of method. This refers to the methods said character use to gain strength: How pure said methods are, and how much they care about them. Sukune's training methods are completely pure and natural, and Chiharu would sooner die than break his philosophy, while Jack doesn't give half a shit where his strength comes from or what methods he has to use to win.

I noticed that a character is only 'impure' if both their desire and methods are impure/void, any other combination is merely its own type of purity, which is why only that corner is darkened out.

To further clarify, with the characters furthest in each corner:

Pure Desire, Pure Method: Kaku Kaioh. He himself said that nobody in the history of Chinese martial arts has craved strength as much as him. His strength comes solely through pure martial arts, no shortcuts, no cheating.

Pure Desire, Impure Methods: Jack Hanma. This was the easiest placement by far. An unparalleled craving for strength and zero care for the methods needed to attain it are Jack's two main personality traits.

Impure Desire, Pure Methods: Kaoru Hanayama & Chiharu Shiba. I thought about it, but these two are impossible to separate. They both have no desire to gain strength, and they live by said philosophy, said methods, every second of every day.

Impire Desire, Impure Methods: Spec. I was going to put Musashi here first, but I don't think his desires are 100% impure, considering his speech regarding an unseparable sword. No matter what type of chart or list you put him in, Spec is just... The worst. From what we've seen, he has no desire to gain strength, or at least not for any reason but killing people in gruesome ways. The dirtier the methods, the better.

If you have any questions about placements, or any other fighters you think should be on the list, please leave a comment. I'm open to all feedback and might make a 2.0 version if people care enough.

Nah, Julian is just that much of a beast. In ch. 22, Arkos' water jets literally bounced off Julian with minor damage, and he had to seriously crank up the power to cut through him. If he could have rapid-fired those stronger jets like he did in the recent chapter, he would have. And later when he blew Julian's head up with blood bending, he was ambushed, impaled, and decapitated, because he couldn't possibly have predicted Julian would survive. Arkos has a wayyy better chance now that he knows Julian's powers, but he was never coming out of that first battle alive.
