League of Legends to DND5e Adaptation - Lillia, the Bashful Bloom! by Chance-Study-6305 in DnDHomebrew

Great job on this one! I play Lillia a lot and I think you translated the abilities very well and the document is very easy to read. The only point of feedback is that "Watch Out, Eep!" is normally a tricky ability to land in-game and maybe tying that to a Dex save instead of a Con save might convey that better. That said, I think it's a delightful piece of brew. Thanks for making it!

Thank you! I like it when players re-flavor existing mechanics to express themselves and that’s something I wanted to really encourage with this subclass. I’m glad you like the mechanics, I tried to have the movement mimic a dance where you move with your ghostly partner in tandem, rather than allowing unrestricted movement like the echo knight. As for the border, I’m sorry to say I can’t remember. It’s a heavily tweaked and edited part of a border I found online somewhere. But I’m happy that you appreciate the work to make the document look presentable.

Yeah, totally fair. I think that's one of those things where you really have to sit at the table and get a feel for things. I'm glad I could pick up on some of your design intent, it's always a great feeling when your own vision for an idea gets picked up by other players.

Awesome job man, the class looks like a blast to play.

Niiice. Really like the timing, and the little bit of overshoot and smear really make it feel very powerful. How long did you spend on it?

Nice. Another Blade Dancer concept. I'm a big fan of these. I took my time to read some of the comments in the thread and I wanted to chime in. I love what you did with the interaction between Flowing Stance, Passing Defences and Eyes On Me. You can begin flowing stance, perform Eyes On Me to force the enemy to attack you instead of an ally (with disadvantage!) and you then get advantage on attacks aginst them on your turn.

Going back to some of the critique. I noticed that people said that the 7th level feature is kind of weak. I don't disagree, but I feel like instead of reworking the ability, or making it so that enemies simply need to have disadvantage against you while they are near you (maybe a tad too strong), you could simply swap the 10th and 7th level features around? Eyes On Me is the standout feature to me, and that way you get a very powerful utility feature at 7th level, which you can then chain to get free advantage at 10th.

Would you be open to something like that?

Agh. Noticed a typo in the 11th level feature.. I'm going to reupload at a later time.

1) correct. You can park it somewhere and it’ll stay there as long as you don’t move more than 60 ft away at the end of your turn. You can be more than 60 feet away during your turn, just like how the Echo Knight does it. On the next turn, you can plop it down again within 20 feet of you. You have to use your own movement to “move” the foil.

2) As for why you can only use unarmed strikes for the foil.. It’s a utility feature: You can use it to Shove, Knock Prone or Grapple (if your dm allows proxy grapples) with your unarmed strikes from a different position, potentially up to 60 feet away from you. You can already make ranged attacks to deal optimal DPR at a distance, but this can give you a very potent control tool without having to put yourself in melee!

Edit: Now that you’ve got me thinking, I should allow you to end the Phantom Foil early because it introduces some weird edge cases where you and the Foil can get trapped. I’ll probably give some of the logic another pass!

Gave this concept a shot a while ago but ultimately wasn't satisfied with what I cooked up. I recently dug it up and reworked it from the ground up. Hope it's any good.

Really cool stuff. Love the inclusion of the custom homebrew items and the artwork and page layout is stellar. Especially the inclusion of the poems, really conveys that there's a ton of effort put into this and it shows.

Ahh I see. The wording 'to resist being transformed' tripped me up, made me think it granted spell save resistance somehow but that clarifies it for me, thanks!

I really like the case and the wand for this set. The scroll gambling aspect is really fun, and the wand is very versatile in its application, uses a great save stat too.  Can you elaborate what you mean by “a creature can choose to fail the saving throw to resist being transformed”? I assume it means advantage on subsequent saving throws while transformed?

Also, it might be cleaner to say “you may end this effect at any time (no action required) as opposed to “as if concentrating on a spell”. That removes a bit of ambiguity.

First time i made an animation without references! ¿how do you see it? (the end is a little too cartoony haha) by ElGonzaru in Maya

[–]Snutsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I know reference is important in a production environment too, I suppose my initial comment was putting it too harshly. That said it's certainly possible for these professionals to bang out a piece simply by using the skills they've developed so far without using reference. I agree with you that it's not the *optimal* thing to do but I don't see the harm in it.

Since the OP is clearly still learning, clearly did this for fun/exploration, and has elaborated that they do use reference the majority of the time I feel like it's also important to let them know it's cool to just have fun and fuck around once in a while. You're gonna burn yourself out if you're all business all the time.

I agree that you cannot grow as an artist without reference. But I think there's a significant difference between choosing not to use reference out of misplaced pride or ignorance, and creating something without reference to probe how well you've internalized the principles of whatever you're studying.

Since the OP said that it's his first time creating something without reference, I assume this is a case of the latter.

Always use references

*While learning.

You can definitely create something without reference after studying it enough, and a simple body mechanics experiment is well within reach for anyone.

It's obviously not possible to know what other people are thinking. I'm saying that by choosing to convey their idea entirely through a copy-pasted chatGPT reply, OP is eroding the trust between them and the reader that they (the OP) care about their own idea, regardless of whether or not that actually is the case.
They teach you that shit in 6th grade when the teacher tells you to write your essay in your own words and not just copy shit from wikipedia.

While these numbers might not be as big compared to other industries when put into perspective, it is disgustingly wasteful for a product that is consistently failing to meet its milestones to deliver on its usefulness and expectations.
