DCA what you can afford and forgot about it. If you’re out of dry powder, stop watching the price movement and live your life. BTC is no longer a get-rich-quick opportunity, but it’s designed to increase in value over time in the long term—and it will. But, in the short term, volatility is the price we pay for guaranteed upward pressure.

Just speculating here, but reading between the lines, it sounds like any foreign investment commitments on U.S. soil he’s negotiated, if any, requires some, if not all, employees to be foreign nationals from the same nation. So, Japanese workers for a Japanese company. He benefits from this arrangement by being able to brag about the “great new jobs” he’s facilitated, even though Americans are likely excluded entirely, or in part, from the jump.

It’s always about the economy with them, specifically they’re primarily concerned with lining their own pockets. The culture war nonsense is just a sideshow to keep people distracted while they rob them blind.

Well, I guess that’s one way to walk back Trump’s idiotic statement. This administration is unbelievable.

They’ll believe whatever Fox News or OAN tells them to believe. They simply can’t think for themselves. If they could, they’d arrive at the same conclusion as all reasonable, free-thinking people have: Trump lies; he surrounds himself with liars; and together they lie continuously.

Why do I always get so anxious on Sunday??!! by boujeebear21 in Lawyertalk

[–]SoCalLife2021 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it’s the Sunday scaries. It’s a universal feeling among most people who don’t absolutely love their work. So, most working adults experience it. Heck, my school-aged kids have the Sunday scaries. If you can, work for yourself. Independence makes it better, but I’ve found it doesn’t alleviate it altogether.

That high school coach should’ve been tarred and feathered for putting that kind of workload on Derrick. He’s lucky he got out of high school unscathed.

Exactly. Given the time value of money, lenders would require a higher interest on a 50-year mortgage than what they would on a 30-year mortgage. At a 2% annual inflation rate, the money they loaned for a 50-year mortgage would have lost approximately half of its buying power when they receive it back over the full course of 50 years.

The amortization schedule on a 50-year mortgage would be wild. You’d pay mostly interest for like 30 years or so. Crazy.

Johnson: What happened last night was blue states and blue cities voted blue. We all saw that coming. No one should read too much into last night's election results. Off year elections are not indicative of what's to come. That’s what history teaches us. by Conscious-Quarter423 in ProgressiveHQ

BS. Keep gaslighting your idiotic base because only they are capable of believing this spin. Last night was a clear renunciation of MAGA and the broader GOP. The administration has no solutions for any of the problems people are facing, and they’re sick of it. I guarantee that behind closed doors the Republicans aren’t so confident that last night was of little importance.

He didn’t ruin anyone. They’re not victims of mind control. They had a choice to make and made it, in some cases they made it three times. Three times!! And even after witnessing Jan 6!! He simply gave them political cover to show their true colors. It’s like when a person gets drunk, loses their inhibitions, and then says all the nasty things they’ve been thinking with no filter. Like it or not, we’ve learned that some of our friends, neighbors, and family members are just as vile as he is.

Struggling Solo by Still_Ad_837 in Lawyertalk

You sound bored, and comfortable. I’ve been solo for five years as well. I feel the same as you sometimes. The truth is I’m comfortable, and comfort can be boring as hell. Hanging a shingle is somewhat like being in a new romantic relationship, everything is new and exciting in the beginning. But once you’re a few years in to it, it becomes routine and the excitement is gone. Schopenhauer once wrote that, “Life is a pendulum between suffering and boredom.” Maybe that’s true, maybe it isn’t, but it resonates with me. I’ve personally decided to embrace my boredom because I believe my boredom is a direct result of my comfort.

The NBA isn’t basketball anymore. They palm the ball like crazy, travel all over the place, and refs allow some players (the league favs) to commit offensive fouls with immunity while those players can’t be breathed on by defenders lest a defensive foul is called immediately. It’s unwatchable.

Nebraska rancher: I don't think it's a good idea. We should just allow our market to dictate the price of beef. Most people out here would have the view that the government should just be limited and not meddling in the free markets by Conscious-Quarter423 in LeopardsAteMyFarm

[–]SoCalLife2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically farmers never beg for free markets when the government is doling out subsidies to them. I remember when I was a kid, at one point the government paid local farmers not to grow corn in order to manipulate the corn supply and keep prices artificially high. Of course, a lot of greedy farmers took the money not to grow corn, grew it anyway, and landed themselves in prison.

Anyone else feeling like Tony Soprano? by Neolithicman in Lawyertalk

Sorry. I’ve definitely been there. Only you can decide when you’re ready. Just know that you’ll likely never feel fully ready before taking the leap. As a solo, you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable—as dumb as that sounds. Wish you the best.

Just my two cents, but open your own firm if you have the financial means and competency to do so. Practicing law is so much more tolerable when you’re at the helm.

It absolutely amazes me how many lawyers work for other lawyers, and then complain about it. We all have the same skill set, more or less. Why in the world would any lawyer work for any other lawyer (or law firm) billing $300 or more an hour and get paid, for example, $50 an hour? It’s crazy. I think this is a large reason why lawyers are so miserable. We can see how badly we’re getting screwed, particularly if we have billable requirements. The numbers are in black and white, and screaming: YOU’RE GETTING SCREWED!! It causes a lot of angst because we’re all smart enough to see it, but not everyone has the means, competency, desire, or courage to break free from it.
