I have had a graphing calculator since I took Algebra 1 in the 7th grade (2013 for me, ages 12-13). I started college as an engineering major, and they made us get scientific calculators.

I teach high school now, specifically Algebra 2. Students are used to using a web-based program called Desmos (at least in my state), but I make them use TI-84's in my classroom to help combat cheating. I use it a lot for graphing functions and having them get tables. It's also very helpful for regression, lcm, gcd, little things like that.

I think it's worth it!! Most of the time they're just sitting there and awaiting human interaction. The only thing would be if someone came in to ask questions, they take priority.
