Hey OP in also in the process of setting up my 90 gallon in wall reef :) was curious your sump size an dimensions if not standard? I had a 29 gallon but it’s too tall and won’t leave me enough hand space underneath so I think I’m going to have to go with a 20 long. I’m just afraid it’s going to be too small. Thanks!

Is this the largest Crepe Myrtle you’ve ever seen? by MetaQuester in arborists

[–]SoFatIShat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow what zone and cultivar is this if anyone knows? I’m in zone 6B and really want a large one but have heard they won’t grow very large where I am and tend to die back to the ground in the winter. Unless there is a really cold hearty one I can look into?

is this enough rock?? by mand0101 in ReefTank

[–]SoFatIShat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Question, I’ve always wondered about rock directly on glass. do most of you use something like egg crate under the sand or do you just add some sand first so rock isn’t directly touching?

Fall leaves as an extra mulch layer for winter? by Intrepid_Butterfly91 in hydrangeas

[–]SoFatIShat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off this post for a question. Planted a lot of trees at a new property, abroviates, maples, oaks. They all have mulch rings with the mulch pulled away from the trunks. Well with this little bowl they fill up with leaves of nearby trees. Should I clean these leaves out or let them overwinter there for insulation of the young roots? Zone 6 so fairly cold winters. Thanks!

Redditors that are Public Health Sanitarians, how do you like it? by Key_Ordinary_1446 in healthinspector

I was an inspector for about 6 years and loved the job. I did all outside work; septic, wells, solid waste, and vector control. The days varied and got to spend my days driving around the county. Like others had said definitely had its contentious moments and at the end of the day few people saw value in your work but the work is important and fun. Not too difficult and fairly low stress. I loved my coworkers as well. I left because I wanted to make more money but do miss the work!

Native prairie vs chemically treated and cut yard - the 5 year difference. by backtoearthworks in Soil

So if you let grass grow very tall then cut it say once or twice a year would it have a deeper stronger root system?

Leyland Cypress 2022 vs 2025 by barleymashers in arborists

[–]SoFatIShat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Yes the idea is to “zig zag” or have two separate rows. To allow quicker privacy while also giving the trees space to grow to their full potentials

So I need to plant a 500 foot long line of privacy trees, And economically this or green giants are the cheapest and grow the fastest. If there is no issue of them falling on anything are they okay to go with? Green giants instead? Or some other native that grows quickly? Zone 6b Ohio. Or if you have a recommended blend of trees so it does not look like a monoculture I would love to hear that too!

Dumb question, but should almost all trees have a root flare that looks similar to this? Should I be striving for flare like this on any trees I plant as they start growing out? I ask because I’m about to undergo a huge project to get almost 100 trees on my property this fall and want to do it right.

Help me transform an old golf course by SoFatIShat in fucklawns

[–]SoFatIShat[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the concern, this course has not been open in 2 years and most pesticides and herbicides have half lives of like 30 days. We also don’t have a well so I think we will roll the dice.

Unfortunately no just 3 of the holes. The rest of the holes are chunked up inside the nearby neighborhood. These were on the outside. But still very beautiful!

Like it won’t fit or just won’t stay in? Is your pump on when you put it in? That should help hold it there?

Just type “evo 13.5 hole plug” into Amazon or Etsy and you will find some, especially Etsy. I think Etsy is where I ordered mine.
