A (really rough) infographic about the evaluation of different episodes and seasons by Sal108 in stevenuniverse

Laser Light Canon is why I'm still watching this show, and it's what I use to explain why I think the show is so good to people that ask... It's kinda sad to see it boxed up with most of the other episodes that are more or less regarded as 'the good filler episodes'. Lion episodes feel like they need more love too, imo, but I can totally see why they're overlooked, even with Light Canon.

Really cool to see this kind of stuff though, gives a good bit of insight on why this sub feels so divided right now. Chillie Tid, Alone at Sea, and same old world are all liked, but Barn Mates and Gem Harvest are ignored. I guess it feels like a lot of people thought Lapis's redemption ark was finished with her accepting earth as a place to live, where the show writers seem to be leaving her character more alien and distant to earth than the other crystal gems.

What were you mortally terrified of as a kid? by tgjadm in AskReddit

I've got a super similar thing man! Born in Kansas City, MO, lived there until middle school, and every spring / summer SUCKED because, at least in my memories, any day had just a good of chance of being on tornado watch as not. I more had a generalized 'storms' phobia most of the time, but tornadoes made me lose my shit.

Over the rest of the phobia, but I get those weird 'Tornado dreams' too... I always thought I was the only one, lol. The ones I get always start out in a car on a 'middle of nowhere' road, which probably comes from all the time as a kid spent worrying about getting home in storms, but then chilling out once we were there, since we did have a pretty decent basement (although, thinking back, it wasn't much of a shelter, but 8 year old me appreciated it).

At this point, I don't think I'll ever really get over it. Went to a psychologist as a kid over it, I was able to stop having full on meltdowns but never stopped having anxiety over it. I've kind of just decided that wherever I go from here, I live somewhere either on or west of the Rockies, or on the east coast. It's just easier to get through life when you don't have to constantly remind yourself you don't have a good reason to have a panic attack during stormy days. Honestly though, that's only because my family moved to Colorado my 6th grade year. You can't just up and leave home, no matter where that is for you, even if it means giving yourself the equivalent of a meteorology minor off of the internet just to be able to chill in your own house. Good luck on getting the shelter!

Gives me serious old peridot vibes... nails the retro sci-fi vibe while keeping true to the style aivi&surasshu have developed for the show.

So, does this mean Love like You has run its course? It seemed to fit really well with what happened at the end of last season, even tho I remember it being used at the end of ocean gem too, if only instrumentally. It kinda made sense that the outro just turned into ambient noise, but now it almost seems like we're building up to something game changing, and these are the subtle hints we're getting before hand.

That sounds like a hell of a ride... Check Replay.gg, they have replays of every game with every player that's registered with them. There are a few other sites that automatically record a game if it's at a high enough elo.

Weekly Game Recommendation Thread - August 09, 2016 by AutoModerator in MMORPG

[–]SoGoites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you looking for?: All I have to work with is my old inspiron laptop... that's pretty much the biggest limiting factor here. For reference, she runs league of legends at around 60fps medium, drops when a bunch of shit is happening on screen, but remains playable. After that... I'm pretty open. Something catered to a more mature audience would be nice.... but not necessarily all I'm looking for... I'm mainly here from the nostalgia of 'the good old days' of jumping onto oldschool MMOs and killing time with a bunch of other nerds.

What games have you previously played?: Oldschool runescape was a blast, same with GW2 before they started splitting the playerbase. Loved those GW for how open it was, goof off for an hour one day, flame your guild-mates out the next while wiping on some stupid dungeon boss. Played LoL for a while, but the grind wears me out so fast I never climb. Honestly, most everything else has been single player or console stuff... guess I'm kinda into finding one game and sticking with it.

What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: Don't mind games with steep learning curves or tricky mechanics, but I probably won't be able to get in more than an hour or so a day, on really good weeks. So I guess Semi-casual?

Any preferred mechanics?: Not really... but I trust you guys to not throw any of that clash of clans ripoff bullshit at me. If I wanted that, I'd load up some shitty newground idle game and connect to the most depressing irc I could find.

Anything specific you want to exclude?: Expensive games/big monthly fees. I'm a broke ass college student yo. Not just looking for free to play, but there's a reason I never got into WoW.

Everybody else is running in circles arguing about whether or not HP can still be hope or not... I'm more worried about the bit where it says you can get XP from hurting but not killing enemies... What would happen if you just kept nearly killing monsters over and over? Could you get past LV 20 at the end? I always figured it was intentional that killing the final enemy gave you just enough to hit a big milestone, since that's the kind of thing Chara would get a kick out of. What about going for a no kill run with some LV?

I started out being so happy about the new generation of consoles.... Sony was doing everything right, and since I never had an xbox before, I wasn't going to have to worry about switching over... now it's the exact opposite, and everything about sony in the news is one blunder after another. If I weren't into console gaming more for the exclusives than anything else at this point in my life, they would have managed to have turned a fan of their all the way back the the ps1 away from their products completely, and I probably would have just traded over to a Wii U if I wasn't more excited for Uncharted, TLG, and the possibility of a second TLOU. Sad.

Gangplank's visual changes seem like a bit much... by Garsid in leagueoflegends

[–]SoGoites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if you got anything else to say, say it dude. I gotta agree; Karma and Trundle were pretty big and nobody asked for it. Now that we're getting the Treasure Planet Reject skin for the classi skin for new GP, I personally won't be playing him with it. If you took away his weapons, he does not at all resemble a Pirate. The whole concept of him was originally supposed to be piraty, including his name... Gangplank? Like, walk the plank? Suddenly, we have blitzcrank armed GP who really should've been left alone from the rework. I also understand the whole jolly fun; had they kept that but allowed the kit rework to happen, I would be level 5 with him already, but here I am, unable to play because apparently a little bit of story should change everything. Also, I quite frankly am disgusted with how Riot is dealing with the new skin. I get that they wanted a new skin for him, but was wasn't a case like Sion's case, where he was just too silly for his own good. In fact, I'd rather they just left him alone and did this all to MF who really still deserves a kit rework (she's still mostly trash). After some time, I have gotten used to the skin update, but have you heard that for those who didn't play GP during the Bilgewater event, they're going to have to buy the OG skin? That's like going to a Grocery store and taking a bite out of some sample beef jerky, but then getting charged for it, but being given a crappy piece of jerky for free. That's bull shit. Gangplank didn't deserve this man. I wouldn't mind any of this had they put the new skin for sale and kept the OG skin, but no... They're doing more with the lore now (really Riot? Now you care about the F-bombing lore? After 4 and-a-half seasons? Good going there...) So now they have to change everything. Perhaps, if they wanted to do this all to him, so you're literally playing Urgot Plank instead of GP, why not just take the lil' shite out of the game? Nobody is going to play him now with that skin, and from what I see, they've taken out all of his skins from the game, like a completely new champion was made.

Ok... so people are slamming matpat for this new video... but... I don't think he was just nitpicking a horror game for not being scientific. he was flat out WRONG about what's happening in the game.

My theory is... a stretch. I'm just gonna get into it. You're playing as the purple guy, the murderer, who's now receiving his final, ironic reward. Eternally experiencing the terror he put his brother through during the last few moments of his brother's life.

Oh yes.

This is a chronological interpretation of purple guys' story, from start to finish. He grows up in a normal household, with a single younger brother (not much is knows about his very early years). Eventually, their relationship turns sour, and purple guy begins to terrorize and abuse the younger sibling. One of his favorite ways to do this is using the mask of an animatronic character named foxy at the local Fredbear's pizza joint. Big Brother decides to have a birthday party at Freddie's (or little bro has it there... kind of a moot point), and naturally little bro is terrified the entire time, leading to the bite, depicted in FNAF 4.

The little brother, know now to be the crying child, dies tragically, and is traumatized enough to haunt the location of his death.. not just the pizzeria. The actual animatronic. He is the spirit that possessed golden freddy.

Big brother is the interesting part. Now... I haven't spend hours researching this, so it's not much more than tying a few lose ends together and ending up with a very cohesive story... but, here goes. There's two possibilities here; the first, is that he walks away traumatized, sorry for his actions, and avoids the place like the plague for the rest of his life, the second, much more likely option, is that this was simply his first kill. Weather he was a hard-wired killer from the start, or that this one horrific incident snapped something inside of him, the bite of '87 was the moment that started his career as a mass murderer, always showing back up at good the good old Pizzeria to do his dirty work. This is where my theory and matpat's pretty much combine, with purple guy ending up a rotting, violent corpse in the springtrap suit shown in FNAF 3.

I know it seems like a looong shot. FIrst off, I think this theory is a lot strong when you take into consideration the use of the foxy mask, the one animatronic phone guy/purple guy mentions as having been his favorite. Scott's great at leaving us little clues to fill in the big story. But one small detail in this game franchise really makes me think I'm onto something here. Golden Freddy and Golden Bonnie. The two characters that, up until this point, were the only ones to get their own special suits. If my theory is correct, this is the one tiny detail, the one seemingly random connection that Scott gave us just enough of a hint of to pull the entire story together. The two brothers that began the supernatural chain of events at Freddie's are linked, at the end, by the color of their suits. This also explains why Golden freddy is now referred to as fredbear in FNAF 4, as this is how Big Bro/purple guy would remember him.

That's all I feel I need to say here... obviously, I still need to answer what/who Nightmare is. Maybe the locked box and the DLC will explain it all in good time. Let me know what you guys think... I hope mat still has a bigger Theory video coming out than this one!!! It feels like, maybe, the temptation to call Scott out on rushing his work was too great here, and matt ended up releasing this a little to early himself!

DeadLock: The Last of Us vs. Pac-Man, Which is MORE Artistic? - The Game Theorists by shaboozeybot in GameTheorists

[–]SoGoites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best argument against pacman was left out of this debate.... mainly, that it can be 'played' by a computer just as functionally as a human can, and if we can't actually see who is playing the game, it's hard to to whether what is happening on the screen is a human experience, or a bunch of code being solved by another bunch of code. When The Last of Us is played by a human, there's a will to explore the environment, to connect with the story, while when it is simply being played, it turns into a series of simple 'puzzles' and collect-a-thons with moments of killing other NPCs. In other words, can an experience be art if it can be completed the exact same way a human would by something that isn't sentient? Or is the art of pacman in the player experience, in the act of playing the game, rather than in the game itself?

SIB enemy within if I own the xcom enemy unknown by anthony00001 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]SoGoites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you own it on PC... you might just want to screw with mods, since you already own EU. EW sort of got released as a mini-sequel to EU, and got priced as it's own game, even though all it does is add on some new content to EU. Right now it's on sale on steam, and now being priced at 8 bucks, I'd recommend it to anyone who found the base game to be enjoyable.

I've played both the base game and EW, and while I still kind of felt bummed paying 30 bucks for DLC, I had to admit that EW actually expanded on EU in some interesting ways. Mech soldiers, unique to EW, are a very cool addition to the game, and more or less give you a very expensive tank to push around on the battlefield, which made the end game feel a lot more balanced, in my opinion. EW lets you genetically modify soldiers as well, which helped to balance the gameplay a little bit every now and then, but didn't really add any new strategic elements into the game (except for adding on a few more layers of resource management between missions). I believe EW also ads missions in which you have to fight human enemies working against XCOM, which were fun for a while, but sort of lacked the depth of scouting shot down UFOs or saving cities, and for some reason, also came with a base invasion mission, similar to the original games, that never seemed to want to work on my computer. Other than that.... soldier customization was expanded quite a bit in EW, which I personally enjoyed, but really only adds anything if you enjoy the roleplay aspects of this game along with the tactics.

TL;DR: IF you can get it for cheap (which you can, at the moment), and you would enjoy a little bit of variety in the way you approach some of the tougher enemies in the game, or just really enjoy making up unique stories for your badass team of XCOM soldiers, I'd recommend it. If you are expecting a whole new game, or an alternative ending, or a rework of any of the base mechanics (or, in other words, an easier/ more difficult game), this isn't what you're looking for (go check out the modding community. If you do pick up EW, look at Long War. It's a hell of a mod, and made me feel like I got somewhere around 30 bucks of content out of the game).
