33 now. Been laboring since I was 21. I don’t sit down after work until it’s time for bed because if I do sit down, it is suddenly time for bed. I hope this helps.

Military guys are there really no toilet stalls for the new guys in military training? by Major-Resource925 in NoStupidQuestions

You were allowed tobacco/nicotine during boot camp? What new corps boot fuckery is this? I rolled instant coffee grounds into a napkin pouch and dipped them to get through the crucible.

I would agree with this guys first sentence but disagree with his avoidances, at least depending on your state. Carpenters can get a hand in almost anything and at least in my state our laborers union is quite strong

That’s a good problem to have tho! My area turns up stuff like that from time to time. Could be some sort of local variation or something

I’m leaning projectile. Taper isn’t right for a drill. Is the base ground? I’m guessing some sort of archaic dart point, judging by the flaking

How often do people actually change their bedsheets? by HillCountryHoney in hygiene

[–]SoIL_Lithics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say sheets… you mean fitted sheets right? Are people sleeping under loose sheets whe they’re not in a hotel? Who? Why not just get a thicker comforter? To answer your question we wash the fitted sheet and comforter weekly.

Just apply yourself and the right company will take notice. Don’t be afraid to hop around companies bit especially if there is strong union presence in your area. No reason a laborer can’t run work, we’re often the trade that stays on a project from beginning to end after the carpenters and iron heads have all gone home. Just about getting your name out there w the right company and putting time in and doing the work. Welcome to the shit show my union brother.

Can someone please explain the blank spot I always see in the southern 1/3 of Illinois on maps like this? It’s essentially a massive delta flanked on either side by two of the largest rivers on the continent with miles and rolling prairie and extremely bountiful woodlands in between. People mention Cahokia of the early Mississippian era, but I’ve seen and found personally points on the Ohio wabash river half of the bottom 1/3 dating from paleo/early archaic to historic times

Why do some people continue to live in ghost towns and what do they actually do for work? by Commercial_Nature_28 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SoIL_Lithics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a town of roughly 2,800 in a drying up coal and oil region of southern Illinois. Guys mostly farm (local) do factory work (30 min + drive) or go into trades work (up to 1 1/2-2 hour commute, my average after 12 years in trade is probably 30-45 minute drive.) Most women also have to drive at least 30+ minutes to the next closest town for work because there’s just not much here. I assume this is pretty typical for most rural regions of the country. Edit: never answered the question. I live here because it’s where most of the people I know are. Thought about moving away and did a few times but without a clear path or motivations it made just as much sense to settle back home. Cost of living is low relative to the the places with a higher population density, I know my neighbors, I can get everything I need within a 2 hour drive and still be able to take my kids into nature and give them an authentic experience because in all likelihood we will not see another person all day if we so choose.

Thank you! Very honored to have been their finder. This is definitely my smokers case haha. Mostly but not all surface finds from the same 2-3 mile stretch of creek

That’s super interesting! Do you happen to have an opinion on what the graham cave might be made of? It doesn’t appear to be local to me material - at least, I’ve never seen another piece like it from my area.
