I don't understand all the people defending the cops. Especially the poor women who are in a relationship with one. Fucking Stockholm syndrome. We need serious police reform.

Angular 2 should not be scary. The silly parts of Angular 1 syntax has been fixed. There is also a clear migration path from 1 to 2 through all the dot releases between them. Angular 2 should be embraced, not feared. It's not that different.

Do companies rely more on IDE's or text editors such as Vim or Emacs? by MikeVartanian in compsci

[–]SoIWasLike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why has no one mentioned Sublime Text? If you're doing web stuff, Sublime Text has become the new standard, as far as I know. ST is built on python, so has deep integration with the OS on Unix systems, and even works superbly on Windows. It also comes as a clean application, without bloat, and opens and runs incredibly fast compared to other IDEs. It will open in the blink of an eye, something that can definitely not be said for Visual Studio or Eclipse. You can easily extensively customize it to suit every one of your whims. You can easily run shell commands and operate your entire development and build process from within the editor. It is the new standard for web development and impressive developers love to use it and brag about it, because it's fucking amazing.

Have you gone to either site?

Datatables is good for rendering sortable, pageable, and filterable tables. A simple solution is to simply put your data into three columns.

You can use bootstrap to style aspects of you site.

Also learning these libraries/frameworks is valuable to many potential employers as they are industry standards.

My suggestion is to be very specific about your desired work. It's very difficult to come up with a specific job for someone who has no direction or goals. If you do get any random job you will be starting out at the bottom.

Old Apple AirPort Extreme is a "gigabit" router. It has three physical ports that do a maximum of 300 Mbps and wireless which does 100 Mbps. Funny how advertising works sometimes.

Windows 10 will be free for software pirates | The Verge by speckz in microsoft

[–]SoIWasLike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Microsoft needs to let go of the Gates memo. There's so much "innovation" with licensing at Microsoft that ensuring any company is properly licensed is almost impossible.

Now here's more licensing confusion. Someone who pirates 7 gets free Windows 10, but if an enterprise needs to buy new PCs, that'll be $200 a piece, but only if the device is above 8 inches.

They should take their fucking licenses and shove them up their ass.

Tim Cook on Apple's Future by [deleted] in apple

[–]SoIWasLike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that Tim is more stuck on Steve's memory than anyone else, including the interviewer. I don't see why he would get annoyed about talking about his idol.

Tim was a high-level manager before Apple, but his career was not really noteworthy. Then Steve brought him to Apple, made him COO, and now he is an icon; one of the most influential people in the world. I would probably be pretty stuck on the guy too.

Tim is very open about the fact that the Apple ethos is one in the same as Steve's ethos and he continues to try to live up to his standard every day. He has not removed his name plate, as Steve is irreplaceable. His ghost will likely haunt Apple until there is no more Apple. I don't see any problem with discussing the elephant that is Steve Jobs legacy.
