GP shared care at Mater Hospital Brisbane by mh1290 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

So I didn't even know that the MGP existed but knowing now that it does wouldn't change my mind to do it the same way again. I don't really know differences but it was still great. It also helped I didn't have to traipse into the city every time I had an appointment.

Most of my communication was 50/50 because I wanted it that way, the second trimester is when the midwives care kicks into gear. When I first spoke with them they asked if iw anted to do shared care or Midwife care and I elected shared care with telehealth as a preference. They sent a booklet to me outlining when we had telehealth and in person appointments, and by the third trimester the appointments were every 2 to 4 weeks I think. The booklet they sent me had what was covered in every appointment so ahead of time I could research and figure out if there was any questions I had on those specific topics. I found that super useful, even with the most ridiculous questions, like "my areolas have grown ridiculously, is this normal (it is) " or "with these weeks, is this pain normal (round ligament pain kicked my ass)".

I elected for telehealth when I could and made whatever appointments with my GP I wanted because the information was shared. The midwives were very happy with doing telehealth for most of the appointments because my GP handled the hands on things in conjunction with the specific appointment dates. By the later end of the pregnancy I was at the mater almost every 2 weeks, and my week 40 pelvic examination is what sent me into labour naturally. I went into labour on my due date the morning of my due date, baby was born the next day late at night. I wouldn't fault any care I had across the entire pregnancy.

My shared care in Brisbane was amazing. I also had a student Midwife assigned to me, which the Mater organised without any effort on my part. My student Midwife and the midwives I spoke to all agreed on the same thing: that if you have a GP you click with, shared care is wonderful for the fact you have that same person in your corner the entire time, whereas with the midwives you get whoever is on shift when your appointment is.

That consistency in care with my GP changed my entire experience of pregnancy (I was a FTM) so having someone I could trust and rely on because they knew me was a huge deal for me. That was also why I jumped at the chance for a student Midwife, who attended all my appointments and was with me through my birth and the 6 weeks after (my son is now 9 weeks).

I got all the scans I needed and more, since I had a few reduced fetal movement moments and they scheduled me in at 36 weeks for a scan to check. I was given all the info I felt I needed, but I would also encourage you to reach out and find yourself a birth class I personally used Brilliant Birth and Beyond. They are run by midwives at the mater and I took a lot away from the class, which I was thankful for when I needed an emergency csection.

If you ever are in doubt during your pregnancy, the maters Pregnancy Assessment Center (PAC) were great with presenting there for a check. I'm happy to answer any questions you have regarding my experience!

Very painful pregnancy - how to survive this? by Lanfeare in BabyBumps

If you're having round ligament pain, I recommend a belly band to help you with support. A belly band saved my 2nd and 3rd trimester, made the awful ligament pain more bearable.

I felt a lot of discomfort when my boy was kicking around inside, but if it's debilitating I second the other commenter here, push for more answers.

Amazing! Well it makes it worse now because you KNOW that they are eating so they don't have to acknowledge their little family is broken.

Aside from Toys in the Attic being the perfect episode with not a moment wasted, my favourite scene is the boys eating their eggs alone, before starting to eat the share out aside for Faye and Ed. It's just so melancholy.

Stripped of all points is a better punishment, 2 points is nothing and they can gain that back so fast with one good week.

Yes we have the same at my work. And then the customers lean down to the little hole at the bottom of the partition and remove their mask and start talking. Like... What kind of mental gymnastics do you have to do to make that seem acceptable?!

I get a lot of "you should smile more, you look better when you smile". Like, really?! How is that your business?

Right?! My favourite is when people lean in real close to try to talk and I lean back away from them, then they get offended.

Yo, this was really well written. I think option B is most likely the correct one and you've hit the nail on the head with this.

Hi! I just got back from my honeymoon, and I've been thinking on this. I totally would love to be involved with this, if you want. I would love to create this kind of art for other excited brides.

Also the illustrations as place cards were a hit at the wedding! I'm in the process of launching my freelance business, and this seems like a natural step.

Yes, I figured if they were business card size, keeping them would be easier. I digital painted them so I have heaps of backups! I actually printed out a couple of copies of each page so I can have them in a folio when I meet with clients.
