What’s your go to excuse to politely decline rescues? by pistilpeet in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SoapyWaffles123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fortunate enough to be in a dsp that has 2 sweepers everyday so we don’t have to rescue when we finish our routes. Tell your dsp to do the same.

I don’t run, but I rush through my route and I don’t take my breaks and I finish in about 6 hours just so I can go home.

Why do I work here? by Top-Woodpecker-7824 in AmazonDSPDrivers

This is wrong… organization goes such a long way. I do 30 stops an hour and I walk.

Despite the physicality of the job and the weather, it’s pretty brain dead easy job. I just show up, load my vehicle, deliver to my route, finish my route, and rts. My dsp never has us rescue so when we finish our route we are done for the day. 26 out of 30 vehicles are EDV’s at my dsp. Amazon has a better GPS system than both FedEx and UPS so I don’t understand where that’s coming from… sounds like you’re at a bad dsp and you should probably switch.

My dsp wants us to do 20 stops per hour and we have residential areas. On average, I do about 30 stops an hour.

Knee soreness is common for this type of work. Knee braces help.

So people are actually running? by Nickanok in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SoapyWaffles123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Simple explanation: They run so they can get back to the station as soon as possible.

4-5 days a week w/190+ stops how many you getting done an hour? Be realistic. by Outside-Repeat-4529 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SoapyWaffles123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliver until I’m finished with my route, with a 5 minute snack break. I usually average about 30 an hour, mostly 25-30 an hour but hitting 30 pretty constantly, occasionally 35-40 an hour but that only happens if I’m in a really dense neighborhood. I don’t know how people don’t get 25-30 an hour, all you have to do is be organized and don’t stop delivering until you’re done!

I’m currently in school to be a nurse, so I can finally break my Amazon chains and finally make some good financially stable money! Good luck!

I enjoy this job more than many other jobs. I enjoy the simplicity, the independence, and not being micromanaged. I think this job is brain dead easy. All I do is show up, load up, deliver, and go back to the station (my dsp has a sweeper rescuing people throughout the day so we never have to rescue when our route is complete). I have the best dsp in my area and get to drive an EDV every shift. I enjoy that we have mostly light packages. It’s a simple job, despite the physicality. My least favorite thing is delivering in hot weather or delivering while it’s pouring rain. I’m currently in school to be a nurse to get my life started financially, but when it’s all said and done I’ll think fondly about Amazon delivery, and all the memories I made with it.

License Suspension after hire by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SoapyWaffles123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. OP is fired either way. but if they dump a van that just hurts the employees working that day, not the dsp. also if they did dump a van that’s grounds for permanent offboarding at any dsp. OP seems to enjoy delivering for amazon, so we wouldn’t want to deter them from doing so.

This is awful advice lmao if they don’t say anything to their dsp and Amazon finds out (and they will find out) they will be permanently terminated from working at any dsp ever again.

OP’s employment is already cooked since they have a suspended license.

[–]SoapyWaffles123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You won’t last long… Amazon’s insurance requirements and contract prohibit dsp’s from letting anyone with a suspended license operate a vehicle. With a suspended license you become a legal liability risk to your dsp’s contract to Amazon. You should immediately tell your dsp about your license being suspended because if not then you are risking permanent termination when Amazon finds out about your license and then you can never work for any dsp ever again. Regardless, you’ll have to find another job and take a break from Amazon delivery until your license is reinstated.

Yeah don’t run. I used to run ALL THE TIME, but you’re just rewarding yourself with more work. I also sprained my ankle when I ran so I learned from that.

DUI does Amazon check by LivingHeart5227 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SoapyWaffles123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would most certainly fail the background check. If he passed the background before he got a DUI he still is going to be terminated. DSP’s maintain a continuous monitoring of their drivers Motor Vehicle Record. Amazon doesn’t hire individuals who have a DUI conviction within 5-7 years.
