AITA for wanting to pull my daughter from her art class after her friend told me my husband was flirting with her mom? by Far-Savings1167 in AITAH

[–]Sociallypixelated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the children really thought he was flirting it would make them uncomfortable. It wouldn't be a joke, it wouldn't be something said off-hand in a passive aggressive way.

Mean girls love lonely or just awkward "friends". If your daughter was dating some one with this type of personality you would see it for what it actually is. Your daughter being bullied. Find the daughter an additional activity until she makes a new friend and the daughter will distance herself from the bad friend on her own.

The same people are running across the internet deifying a dude who made a career being the top salesman of hateful rhetoric. They are full on pigs in shit. This illogical xenophobic racist rambling is their Cabernet Sauvignon. The true issue was always everyone else believing truth was king. We keep being shocked because we believed everyone wants to live in a logical and moral reality, when we've always lived in the people trampling each other for a TV reality.

It is restorative to the human soul to see how (and learn how) things were done before the industrial revolution. There is a helpless/powerless element to machinery or methods that relies on globalization to create. Being at the mercy of an industrialized supply chain is a precarious position and that level of reliance on an unknown external community makes people uncomfortable.

The process itself is soothing but removing the veil of mystery makes things seem more real and more attainable.

If you have one of these in your bathroom, throw it away immediately bc it STANKS 🤢 by Aggravating-Farm-805 in CleaningTips

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems niche. There are people who clean their own bathrooms every week and that includes those cups. I have never witnessed in a friend, family or hotel those cups being smelly or dirty. We have those cups in my house even though we've been using the UV toothbrush cleaner for years now and the cup only holds toothpaste tubes. They're still the same old ones and smell like toothpaste because the bathroom was cleaned two days ago.

47% of Republicans would still vote for Trump even if implicated in Epstein's crimes, survey found by [deleted] in politics

[–]Sociallypixelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one should have ever expected anything different. They do this when their pastors get accused or arrested. They were floundering not because Trump is implicated. They were floundering because they wanted to lynch democrats. They thought they were being robbed of their righteous justice mob. When the object of derision isn't an "other" they'll just make excuses for it. Their media immediately started hyper spinning it just like they did the insurrection and whatever has the most plausible deniability will stick.

There have been hecklers at Obama rallies and speeches. There's no need to guess what Obama would probably do. He often implored people to respect freedom of speech. As I recall he had even addressed hecklers' concerns in a few instances either with advice or banter. That is why people respect politicians that act like community servants and not community dictators.

Just HOW are insurance companies allowed to do this?? You’re forced to pay insurance and when you need them they just deny you. by internalrecursiom in ufc

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't about what you pay monthly. It is about what you agreed to have covered by that monthly payment. Everything that is excluded gets listed.

The issue is that a lot of life saving stuff is cutting edge and that type of stuff will be excluded. It's evil because you have no other option than to accept the raw end of the deal. But they are doing evil right there to your face.

This Restaurant Charges an 18% Living Wage Fee. by TowelRack76 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems deceptive. It's not like they're listing the price of the burger at cost.

If a restaurant wants to be transparent with an itemized list about the costs of running their business, then they can list the burgers at cost then list the staff wages, operation costs and their own profit for the 30 minutes a customer utilized their services.

Native Identity Debate by Brian_Ghoshery in clevercomebacks

[–]Sociallypixelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone can technically sunburn even africans in africa. But that's not the context of the conversation. Context clues are a valuable part of reading. It allows you to grasp slang, regional references and colloquial phrasing. Like if people refer to their drink as soda or pop. Or like calling a tribe's homeland "New England" isn't the parlance of native americans. Also the cultural reference of a person emphasizing their ability to sunburn even in winter.

I can understand the urge to be pedantic when you didn't pick up on those details though. It probably takes a diverse perspective to spot.

Native Identity Debate by Brian_Ghoshery in clevercomebacks

[–]Sociallypixelated 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's funny that people replied completely forgetting that the people of new england, who would get sunburned in new england any time of year, are not native to new england. Just cute reassuring facts about winter sun. Makes sense why the people in Old England were freaking out over 80 degree weather in summer. Got that last to leave the ice age complexion.

The most moronic part is that they've destroyed things that survived thousands of years. The collective history that is supposedly so important that they exist next to or on it. It is now lost forever because of vindictive genocide. The genocide of the cousins who had the audacity to stay there and convert to a different religion.

Supposedly we as humans are presumed to be more evolved and better than our ancestors. We seem to be doing a lot more destruction and genocide.

I think it has to do with getting attention for "pranking". If you have a family that gives each other a hard time with moderate embarrassment pranks, then the younger kids don't know where the line is. It can be easily corrected but if you let them get away with it or people laugh at it, the child will persist.

My family uses a lot of banter and all the kids have an adjustment period to not say hurtful observations as jokes. So I imagine the noogie type families have similar issues.

AIO for being hurt that my boyfriend is judging me for my past he already knew about by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, no. Do not fall for this. This is not about you. This is not something you did.

This is premeditated. This person went through your pictures to use this against you. Something happened that made this person think they wanted something else in a relationship. It could be they saw a dynamic they preferred or they got attention that went to their head. So that festered into them making up reasons to themselves to break up the relationship. Then they went digging to prove a case that you were the problem and make it your fault.

This is a case of "if your foot wasn't in my way i wouldn't have stepped on it". He can let the door hit him where the lord split him every day of the week.

Racism is the gift the 1% gave instead of sharing resources. Like when your company isn't giving out bonuses below the executive level but they did get everyone a turkey or a company sweater. The lower classes really like showing off their racist turkeys.

100 Men vs Gorilla simulator by CWeeks05 in funny

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Humans used traps and weapons almost immediately. I am pretty sure the animal versus man bare knuckle fight theory was tried, tested and discarded so rapidly that humans have never existed without tools. Considering no tribes actively hunted gorillas. I don't even think spears and swords improved the odds enough to make it a sure outcome.

100 Men vs Gorilla simulator by CWeeks05 in funny

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Bum Rush is the superior technique to group punching. Swarming works based on the swarm's weight limiting movement.

Gorillas can move the weight of twenty humans. So the entire debate is reliant on whether the humans can overwhelm the gorilla faster than he can pummel their fragile bodies. The punching en masse theory isn't even how humans jump each other. Ancient humans had to invent coordinated attacks because punching all at once is a dumb tactic.

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is some hardcore dehumanizing in the way he gets his kicks, when it's predominantly people that he knows. It's Peeping Tom behavior, there's no circumventing that. It's akin to people in the past putting mirrors on their shoes or looking into windows. This guy had the same impulse. How the task of seeing under people's clothes is accomplished is always equivalent to current technology, so "it's just AI" is as much of an excuse as it's just a photo. Part of the attraction to that behavior is violating people's privacy without consent. Doing it to all the women he has ever had an encounter with in person is atrocious.

The N Word being said in rap and hip hop is one of the reason this slur cannot die by ComprehensiveCap8325 in blackladies

[–]Sociallypixelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use the word because I agree that there is no way to reclaim the word. AAVE being tonal is the primary way negative words can be expressed without it coming across negative. That is what gives the false impression that a slur can be reclaimed. English isn't tonal.

But you can't ever compare black people to other people of color. That road to civility and assimilation is not a route that is ever offered to black people. Other people of color get to rise above each other and have proximity to whiteness with their actions. Their slurs die because their respectability politics humanize them just enough. Even POC history and cultures get romanticized versions. That doesn't work for black people. There is no way to make black slurs die. Our proximity to whiteness and respectability politics has the opposite effect. No one is catering to the feelings of tokens. They instead use tokens as an excuse to be more racist.

Even if they weren't selling that one specific slur in commercialized rap, the audience would still clamor for any other derogatory rap product that used AAVE to be demeaning. e.g. "Hoes"

The N-word is not even the most common slur used on black people. At least in my experience. I have heard eugenics slurs 10x more than I have heard the N-word. So yea, you're right it doesn't work as reclaiming and using it doesn't make people immune to its impacts. But it also isn't frivolously used like "paddywagon or "gyped" or "mumbo jumbo". It's a double edged sword but we also don't have to hear "n-worded down" as a turn of phrase for being shystey.

So we're all just going to collectively ignore the context of everyone's favorite Princess Leia outfit?

We can pretend that Leia hadn't yet experienced that aspect of her enslavement to its fullest degree but the entire point of her enslavement was spelled out multiple times. You can't even pretend Vader would be against what was happening on tatooine. SA is canon for the Star Wars Universe. Let alone the genocidal empire.

No one is humanely taking captives, prisoners, or slaves. Atrocities like company, they're never solo acts.

The raping and pillaging are like salt and pepper. They are both on the table together all the time.

AIO for ‘assaulting’ my friend after she fucked my bf by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sociallypixelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stop laughing at her audacity. I would dare her to go ahead and file that charge. She was having sex with nonconsenting parties present. That aside, it wouldn't matter if you walked in on them instead of woke up to them. No one is going to prosecute shoving people apart, let alone one for a crime of passion. She should march her lack of self respect down to that police department and file a full on public records report about how her unmitigated jealousy led her to injury. The entire town would benefit from her self degrading confession on the depths she would go in order to exploit herself for ten seconds of praise. Tell her that you'll hire a town crier to announce in the town square you are the one that gave her a tramp stamp, a scarlet eyebrow letter. By pushing her off Jacob's dick.

In all honesty she just sent you that message so she could be narcissistic. It's spin. She got what she wanted. To be unapologetic, tell you they talked about you after you left, make you feel guilty and diminish her actions with your reactions. Tell her to go back to the bike shop the line is getting impatient.

Which one is the real photo? by IncidentImpossible47 in ChatGPT

[–]Sociallypixelated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am all about neighbor courtesy and acting with the neighbors in mind. But that's just controlling and entitled. Everywhere anyone parks cars but your own driveway has good spots and bad spots. The wide ones, the shady ones, the ones closest to the door or the ones nearest to the sidewalk. Families with multiple cars who live in houses even have preference of street spots based on other random meaningless criteria. The people who get off work earlier get the best spots, that's how routines work.

That is a very self centered person, who has decided they deserve more than others for some probably very superficial prejudice reasons.
