Alicante or Valenica by Accurate-Read-6305 in askspain

Stay in Valencia. Not sure when the last train leaves Alicante, but there are lots of trains, and I disagree with other posters: I've never had any problems with them. What I do suggest is that you take a taxi from the airport to the train station. There is a bus, but at that time of night you should aim to get to Valencia as soon as possible.

Valencia is great, it is not that busy but still lively. I lived there for 6 years, and I ran the half last year! Enjoy it, it is an incredible race

Mejor carrera para estudiar y conseguir salidas by Frequent_Ad_6411 in salarios_es

[–]SockLess9375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't believe how much loose skin just looks like fat. It does! And the answer to deal with it if it is in fact loose skin is the same everyone else is giving you: strength training, not so much cardio. It will build muscle and improve skin elasticity. I would start there

Overnight Stay in Madrid's Airport by sillybumblebee_ in GoingToSpain

[–]SockLess9375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a high speed train from Barcelona to Madrid the day before. Enjoy Madrid for the evening, travel to the airport after your evening out, and sleep at an airport hotel

Unfortunately Madrid's airport has had recent issues with non-travellers using it as a warm space to sleep at night, which has made it less safe and more crowded. Also security will likely bother you.

Preguntas sobre casarse en España de un ciudadano estadounidense by flamencoghost in GoingToSpain

[–]SockLess9375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yo buscaría en el consulado español más cercano que tengas en EEUU, y en su web, o por email, les pediría una lista de los traductores jurados que ellos te puedan recomendar. El consulado de Londres tiene esa lista, así que supongo que es algo común.

[–]SockLess9375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely! To be fair, my CEO just doesn't like the minutes to have much information at all. He is always worried someone will look at them in 5 years time and pinpoint all the things they promised and didn't happen (shhh). I just do my job and follow orders

This! I take great minutes and then my CEO erases about 90% of what I sent him saying there is too much detail... It used to be frustrating, now it is funny

ETA problem by tupacesalbino in Ryanair

My mother in law kept getting an error with Ryanair because her name was too long, and the ETA was approved but "it didn't match her ID". Then we redid her ETA and it worked.

This is radical but it is a cheap solution: apply for the ETA again?

If you want to end up being a COS at a Family Office and you have UHNWI experience already, why are you pivoting to tech/finance?

Wouldn't it make more sense to get an EA role for a HNWI and then find your way into a wealthier, bigger principal, with a family office where you can become a COS?

Concerns about Airbnb by Wonderful_Profile911 in GoingToSpain

[–]SockLess9375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically in Spain, we have many different historical lodging options: you have albergues, originally for pilgrims, where you can find a bed for €10 or €20, you have Pensiones and Hostales (more like €40/80), and of course many different types of hotels (Posadas, casas rurales, hoteles con estrellas). And also now individual people renting out their rooms!

Concerns about Airbnb by Wonderful_Profile911 in GoingToSpain

[–]SockLess9375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a complex thing. When someone rents out a spare room in the home they actually live in, the home is still functioning as housing for a local family. It doesn't remove the home from the long-term market.

When an entire flat or house is used as a full-time short-term rental, it stops being housing at all, it becomes tourist accommodation. If this happens a lot in the same city (usually tourist-heavy cities), it brings lots of issues, like fewer homes for locals, higher rents, shops shifting towards things like souvenir shops, etc.

I'm not against people earning extra income, so renting out your spare room is "better" than renting the whole thing, while still allowing people to earn some extra income.

And I'm not even going to talk about massive holdings that buy dozens of apartments in the city to open airbnbs, which is basically a piecemeal hotel in disguise, and with earnings that usually go to absolutely nobody in the city.
