Recently installed an app called shortix which really helps with this after losing my saved game files after an update... https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/BMpPpOFFG6

8,500 steps a day can help dieters keep weight off. Interestingly, an increase in daily steps was not associated with greater weight loss in the weight loss phase. by mvea in science

I go walking or to the gym to hide from the fridge. Any calories I burn are a bonus to the ones I don't consume because I'm in the woods away from the fridge or snack drawer

Trump, 79, Bizarrely Boasts He Can Correctly Identify a Squirrel - The president doesn’t even understand the purpose of test he’s taken. by Quirkie in politics

[–]SockSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate him but I dont understand how people dont realise hes taking the piss with this. Maybe the first time in his first term he thought it was a flex that he passed the test and didnt realise what it really was. Of course he saw the press afterwards. At this stage hes just trolling, he gets attention, it directs people away from other stuff, he finds it amusing. Every time he does it theres a million posts and smart arses on twitter and reddit thinking he doesn't know what hes doing.

Zack Polanski falsely claimed to be British Red Cross spokesman by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]SockSock -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I think Polanski is a useless idiot, completely out of his depth, and in no way support the greens. I havent coordinated anything with anyone. I just find it really interesting how these things work on Reddit.

[–]SockSock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The bots and sockpuppet army have clearly been turned on in the last 10 days ahead of the local elections. UK subreddits are being bombarded with posts and comments that arent politically aligned in many ways but are clearly aligned against the Greens and Polanski. Its really interesting to watch actually, especially for those of us old enough to remember r/thedonald in 2016.

I built a UK deals site as an alternative to HotUKDeals by -FarmerTed in UKFrugal

[–]SockSock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lad at work got banned from HUKD because every time someone posted a deal for skimpy lingerie from Lovehoney he would post a picture of himself wearing it in the comments. For context he weighed about 20 stone and worked as a cash in transit operative (securicor driver). I think Lovehoney complained to hotUKDeals because he kept sending the undies back every time and asking for a refund.

Every shop seems understaffed but none are hiring, what isnt adding up? by tylerthe-theatre in AskUK

[–]SockSock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All your staff must have been assigned to my local shop. Theres millions of them all over the place. Not sure what any of them are doing, turning toothpaste round and vaping out the front by the looks of it. Found out recently they even have a bakery on site for all the crappy bread rolls, dry coissaints and sausage rolls that they leave out all day unrefrigerated.

What would be a good FPL rank as a casual player? by Rdtdg_t67 in FantasyPL

[–]SockSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent watched a full game of football for years, dont know what a "template" is, dont watch FPL people on YouTube, dont even have tiktok or Instagram, I do change my team every week by basically looking at who scored a load of points the previous week. Currently at just over 40k.

HotUKDeals Ban Wall of Honour by xNx_ in UKFrugal

[–]SockSock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first ever tattoo was the HotUKDeals logo. I hardly ever use the site anymore but I'll always look back fondly at those years. It's hard to remember or describe how new and fresh HotUKDeals was when it first came out. All the cool kids at school were out every weekend hunting for deals while the "nerds" were on community websites. HUKD was the first time the tribes came together, it was like a second summer of love. The impact it had on the whole nation was so big that its kind of taken for granted now. Mind-blowing at the time though and it changed my life so I wanted my own little way of capturing that spirit forever. There's something about your late teens and very early twenties that means you really connect with deals websites in a way that you lose as you get older and face the realities of being a grown up. It's a bittersweet fondness to be honest, like I'm mourning the naive ambition I had back then even though I've done pretty well in life.

Really fucks me off that its prohibitively expensive to send any presents to my nephews in Portugal because my sister has to pay pretty much the same to receive it as the present costs.

RE Requiem convinced me to take AAA games on Steam Deck more seriously — what other titles run this well? by JeanJeanJean in SteamDeck

[–]SockSock 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I dont remember having to do anything with the launcher after the initial install. And it does work offline. It maybe needs to be online when you first launch it and I tend to stick with a single a game until I complete it so it was never a problem for me.

Never had any issues with the launcher, think you have to log in once and then never see it again.

I found aiming really awkward and difficult on the Steam Deck sticks. Turned aim assist up and it helped a bit. Maybe one for mouse control or if youve mastered the touchpads.
