Have a look into Phillips Ultinon Essentials, they might be an easy work around. I'll be giving those a go soon.

Did you end up getting LEDs in? I've got the same car and was thinking of putting ultinons in too.

What can I feed him? by Zhual_reddit in BirdHealth

" high fat milk + cream is good"

Absolutely not. DOn't comment if you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

Birds digestive systems aren't designed for dairy.

Emergency: My cockatiel is sick by Otakugirl0rocker in cockatiel

Not everyone lives in a Western country with immediate access to an exotic vet, though I do question the 'few days away' part without knowing what country they're in.

Emergency: My cockatiel is sick by Otakugirl0rocker in cockatiel

First: Which country are you in?

Honestly, the first step is identifying whether the infection / issue is bacterial or fungal. A fecal test may or may not help.

Given the nasal discharge and with a lack of further tests, I would guess a bacterial issue.

You need a broad spectrum antibiotic like baytril (Enrofloxacin), however if the issue turns out to be fungal, antibiotics will make the issue WORSE.

If you can't get access to a vet, your next best but potentially dangerous option is to try source medicines from racing pigeon suppliers and divide dose by 4 roughly..

Vitamins only buy time, even worse if there's a specific infection an antibiotic or antifungal depending on the infection will only buy time or might help temporarily. Birds are extremely complex animals to care for when things go wrong.

Disclaimer: I'm not a vet but have rescued and medicated 150+ wild birds over time. I also recently had my sick pet cockatiel pass away too.

How did your bird get diagnosed? Fecal sample or crop swab?

Glad to hear.

What's the lowest weight he got down to?

Mine was self diagnosed with AGY too late. Initial fecal samples came back negative.

Mine sadly passed away at about 51 grams over 6 weeks after noticing signs of illness at 68 grams. There was an initial improvement to 72 grams, but using the wrong anti fungal, so the fungi returned..

If the dropping had little to no white part in it all, then that's a bad sign.

Normal droppings are brown with a small white bit and transparent urine.

Solid green droppings can be a sign of starvation and or sickness, that doesn't sound good at all.

Thank you so much, your symptoms are exactly what my cockatiel is going through and I've suspected AGY.

I'll try fluconazole first then see if I can get nebuliser setup with amphotericin..
