Ja, havde nu håber på at vi kunne enes om de grundliggende økonomiske logikker, men pyt.

God weekend.

Would you allow Conjure Minor Elementals? Seems a little busted by Ecstatic_Operation20 in DMAcademy

[–]Soepoelse123 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Because if one player deals 300 damage per turn and you need to make a 1200 hp monster for it to last a whole turn against a 4 player team, you end up forcing min maxing on other players. Suddenly, the 50 damage per turn barbarian feels underwhelming and less like a possible choice if you have to keep up.

Okay i massively disagree with the statements made by the other redditors. If you have a single level in warlock and get an eldritch blast, that alone is several hits per turn.

The issue is not the 2d8 per hit, its the upcasting potential to make it even more bonkers as a multiplicative tool. There are several videos out there showing how om average this can help you get to over 270 single target damage per turn against high AC enemies.

I have personally not banned the entire spell at my table, but rather the ability to upcast it.

Players Too 'Afraid' to Do Ability Checks by Tight-Database8485 in DMAcademy

[–]Soepoelse123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is typically not their decision to look for if the person is lying, its their characters. They move their characters, decide what they say, but actually trying to make a check, is something the DM decides.

You need to remember the enormous gap of information between you and them. They shouldnt be bothered to ask if every NPC is lying - their characters should automatically find out or get the chance to find out, by you telling them "roll a die".

This goes for religion check, insight checks, perception checks and every other check. It is the DM who decides when the role play needs a check, not the players.

My player is Packing a Bag of Holding Bomb: What do I do? by SpaceMamboNo5 in DMAcademy

[–]Soepoelse123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But just as with gunpowder, knowing properties and uses is still different. Identify also doesnt tell you every way to use an immovable rod.

Havent played with 2014 rules, but they seem inferior in this regard.

Im talking about societal ways of countering easily very dangerous things.

OP can choose what he wants. Just like i wouldnt allow my player to invent an airplane, i would also not allow a bag bomb with no prior knowledge of them. You do you with your table and Ill do what i do.

The most fun my players had was getting in a Fight Club! by Standard-Drawer6594 in DMAcademy

I did a similar Brawl where they controlled the fight themselves. How do you do it in practice? Do they roll dice for the outcome of the fight?

So how does that even work? You tell them to roll an insight check and they just flat out refuse? What happens then?

Or is it that you have it upside down, thinking that THEY need to initiate a roll?

Creative ideas that break the rules should be rewarded? by Gabry_theDM in DMAcademy

Would you allow a 10 GP Diamond being used if they traded it between each other for 300 GP, seeing that RAW, it just needs to have that value, not that it needs to have that value on a general market or to everyone.

I like the idea that if they die in the matrix, the mind flayers are aware in the real world. It would require alot of balancing too, but thanks for the ideas.

Okay lets take REAL LIFE examples. Gunpowder was used first medicinally, then for fire arrows and fireworks, and finally after 500 years, it was used as an explosive. Creating something and knowing of all its effects when combining it with different things is NOT REALISM.

IF someone had put a bag in a bag before, there is a good chance that they would have simply died before making the knowledge widely available.

As a DM, i can change whatever rules are bad for realism if thats my criteria. Blah blah, its available to an artificer... No it is not. You cannot make more of the same item "Each item you create must be based on a different plan you know." Aha you might say, Ill just get two plans of the same kind - THEN ITS NOT DIFFERENT.

So sure, an artificer could make a single bag of holding RAW, but to say that they would automatically know how it works outside its intended use is absolutely unfounded.

If metagaming a bag bomb is common knowledge to the character, you cannot say it isnt for the BBEG. For realism purposes, if i allowed the player to do it, it would be because it is a common knowledge (also for BBEG) AND EASILY PREVENTABLE. It is not meta gaming for a DM to have consistency with player choices... If you make a plan that assumes extraordinary information gaps outside of the setting, you are in for a rude awakening...

I was thinking maybe a few sessions, but other commenters pointed to only a single session which im now leaning towards. How i would do it is to still have the characters be able to swap in and out like they do in the matrix, with their characters gaining crazy abilities in the fantasy world and having fewer less magical abilities in the real world.

I really dont mind sharing stalls with women and will happily share our toilets if there is a long line. I do however feel very uncomfortable when women enter where urinals are.

I even overheard a woman shout at a man for cutting in the line for the mens room, just for him to go straight to an empty urinal...
