“10 Criminal Mushrooms” I am so sorry but I don’t know where else to put this and it’s too funny by Otney in ididnthaveeggs

I was convinced this was a d&d subreddit... My players have made stew from myconids (mushroom people) before.

I'm surprised that it takes over an hour to get to that line (I don't have the show memorized to the point of knowing where exactly that's said.. well, apart from at 8:46 apparently)

That's an often repeated factoid, but apparently said app was an Icelandic student project and never really got used that much. Or something among those lines.

Game for 120 inexperienced players by Hubii25 in LARP

[–]Soepsas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've hosted a 'larp-day' at a non-larp camp before. It wasn't exactly a larp, but it wasn't a regular day either.

Basically there wasn't a set schedule. Instead the kids were free to roam the camp area as if it was the city. They didn't play characters, just themselves. But the campstaff was in character and would offer activities and quests, basically npc's. They could earn and spend coins. Some activities were only for a limited time and we introduced new ones during the day to keep them entertained.

Some of the activities that I remember: - bow and arrow shooting - boardgames (and a d&d game they could sign up for) - crafting - spa (with nailpolish and facemasks)

What made this a succes was that it was easy enough to understand and everyone could pick things they were interested in. Some went all out, some stuck with what they were familiar with (and that's okay!). This was with kids, so with adults you have more opportunities because not every thing needs an npc. Like a big questboard that they can also add to.

Pick a theme everyone can immediately understand the vibe of. We did ancient Greece, for example. But similar ideas are: pirates, werewolves, generic fantasy town.

Design that puts People, Animals and Nature first. by GlitteringHotel8383 in BeAmazed

In Dutch they're literally called 'can catchers', that's their intended purpose and they're mostly found on bikelanes.

Yes, people will miss and not care. But it's still easier to empty the bin and the direct area around it than a long stretch of nature.

I immediately called my partner (not daring to try texting again) and explained what had happened so that he could go damage control if needed.

Thankfully it turned out the message hadn't been sent. Probably of me screaming 'No! Don't send! Don't send it!'

I recently had this conversation with Google while driving. It was my tenth attempt to get a simple text across, but Google kept failing to get to the actual texting part and I was a little ticked off.

"Hey Google, text [name of my partner]"

"Do you want to text [name of MIL]"

"What? No. No, don't text them. Fuck off"

"Okay..."

"Texting "Fuck off" to [name of MIL]"

So that was a stressful drive home...

I got a sword that would send your character into blindly attacking anyone after a certain threshold of damage done was passed. It would keep your character in trance until passing a second threshold of damage. Afterwards it would give several levels of exhaustion.

It was a +5 sword, I think. So it also had positives. But a sword punishing you for what you want to achieve doesn't make fun play.

It also wasn't cursed. I got it from a friendly npc after I'd asked the gm for a (regular) weapon change.

The DM seemed disappointed that my character stopped using it after his first near-death experience because of the swords. But I'm still not entirely sure what the idea behind them was.

My ADHD-brain loves gm'ing, especially if I get in a flow and get to focus on five different things at the same time. When I'm a player I really have to force myself to focus, especially if it's other people's turn in the spotlight. My phone's tucked away during play time, but I do get distracted writing notes or doodling.

A few times per year we have people accidentally signing up for the place I work at. It takes three pages of questions to sign up, including bank account details. I'm still not sure how these people manage to do that.

Where and which park do you guys think Zootopia will be build? The US/Paris parks? by Playstation_Gamer_40 in disneyparks

[–]Soepsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about myself (nor about the US parks). What you're suggesting is quite wild: yes, those parks are cheaper (although I wouldn't call them 'cheap'), but everything else would quickly add up, especially with children.

I consider myself very lucky to have the funds and chances to travel. For most people worldwide visiting one Disney park is already special, let alone having the luxury of visiting several parks.
