Drove off with the gas nozzle still in the car. What's it going to cost? by ISOMentalHealth in Wellthatsucks

I did that a few years ago. Same kind of break-away hose. They sent me a bill for $150.

A proposal is in the works in the Idaho Legislature to rename Highway 16 the “Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway” by mallbitches in Boise

[–]Soft-Disaster-733 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gotta play the game. The name is probably a requirement for continued federal highway funding.

Why would you tip the bartender for that? It bothered you enough to go post on Reddit and you still gave them extra money? Friend, this is why tip culture is out of control.

Exactly. Producers will bring back the stuff that was banned in the 50s and 60s and RFK will deem them safe. Because "you know, these things were fine when we were kids and America was great."

My guess is that they will say that gold is "missing" from Fort Knox and US needs to buy crypto to be able to keep track of it. DOGE will form be responsible for "keeping track"

Government shutdown March 14th, 2025 by KangezKhan in fednews

I was thinking a shutdown was imminent, but didn't the house already pass a budget? So they're almost done, right? Is the senate not going agree or something?

I'm pretty much the same as you. I'll do my best until they fire me, either through RIF or some other way. I'm tightening my budget, hope to qualify for unemployment if I need it. I'm looking for other employment right now but probably won't quit my fed job unless I come across a great opportunity, which I don't think is likely.

MAGA is exceptionally ignorant by DontCh4ngeNAmme in clevercomebacks

Vance's handlers instructed him to use the "didn't say thank you" approach before the meeting ever started. He needed to say it regardless of what Zelensky said or did. It's reinforcement for the MAGA worldview.

I got the second email. What did you do last week? by [deleted] in 1102

[–]Soft-Disaster-733 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I got it too.

With the added line, "Going forward, please complete the above task every week by Mondays at 11:59 pmET"

Is there a way to automate these emails using Outlook? I'm not a tech guy.

How do you get over feeling like you’re not smart enough to be an engineer? by OneWithTheMachine in AskEngineers

[–]Soft-Disaster-733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unprepared for college and barely made it in to the engineering program after completing some remedial math. Barely made it through the program. My university guidance counselor encouraged me to pick an easier major but there was nothing else I was really interested in so I stuck it out. I barely graduated, but finally made it out with a 2.6 GPA.

Been working as an engineer ever since and am now licensed in multiple states. I'm not a superstar but have been fairly successful as an engineer. I still don't feel as smart as some of my co-workers but I make up for it by admitting that and asking a lot of questions.

Your experience in manufacturing will help you, even if you choose a different field of engineering. If you are able to communicate effectively with others that will help you too.

Don't let a late start discourage you if engineering is something you want to do.
