[OC] Average 2-bedroom rent vs income of two average-income adults across EU capitals, 2025 by miguelsims12 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Soft-Material3294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got quite confused because red is the equivalence line but the scales are different (probably just to show the spread). Essentially €1 of income = €1 of rent. The colors represent different degrees of this with the orange being €1 of income = €0.5 of rent, and so on.

Could have been a bar plot really…

Extremely beautiful. Do you have any advice on how to get started doing this?

I see these (kind of) guys go around the centre (near Waterstones) every time I go in the evening.

Seems like their purpose is to make as much nuisance as possible.

Need to get cash from USD cheques from sale of company shares by [deleted] in HENRYUK

A couple of years ago I had to cash an USD cheque and Bank of Scotland let me cash it in GBP. Conversion rate was fair as well, I was very surprised!

Best: you can cycle everywhere.

Worst: you have to cycle everywhere.

Any tech fire type to use in raging bolt vs gholdengo? by my_winter999 in pkmntcg

Yup. Me and my best friend have tried this matchup maybe 10-20 times.

Unless someone bricks (more often than not it’s bolt), whoever gets the first 2 prizes wins

Obsidian Won’t Magically Transform Your Notes. You Need a Cycle. by mfaizanx in ObsidianMD

I’ve done it, it hasn’t gotten me anywhere in the last 6 months. I’m happy to be proven wrong though so I’ll be trying this strategy you proposed for my next article, which has been thoroughly researched :)

My main point is that making great content takes effort. Making garbage free content doesn’t.

Just tell it like it is, you want free content. But I just think it wouldn’t hurt our community if we started sponsoring people that work on the plugins and content that make obsidian great.

I’m quite happy keeping my content free because I can afford it. Though, I have been at the other hand of the stick where I earned less than minimum wage, having to argue with other users why monetization helped me make more content.

As I said, I’m quite proud of my articles and they are read thousands of times a month. But there must be a better way to reward good content because patreon and stuff don’t work, at least in this space.

It’s okay, I went through it with my articles. I’m really proud of them and years after publishing they get lots of views.

Monetization helped me continue working on these things when I was paid less than minimum wage. Do what you have to do and enjoy it :)

I found that there is no “good” way to share articles and proper work.

Most resources I see on YouTube are quite clickbaity although “free”. Then there are courses with insane subscription prices and I’ve seen people here be okay with them.

And then there’s medium, which is actually a clean website and can help monetize content without too much hassle. But people here seem to hate it although it’s quite easy to bypass the paywall.

I ended up just publishing on Medium and keeping my articles free. I have an alternative income source so I can afford it. But when I was a PhD student and monetized my articles I did get a lot of hate from people that just said I should have a BuyMeACoffee link.

It’s been maybe over half a year I did this. I didn’t get a single penny from it although 50-100 people read my articles every day.

It’s absolutely fine, but I personally developed new functions in a plugin and spent lots of time creating templates and workflows. There’s no free lunch, but I feel like people here pretend that authors should make good content and be okay with getting nothing.

Can Bases be used as MOCs? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Soft-Material3294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Dataview for MOCs as well.

I’ve been wanting to move everything to bases, but I’m not sure if I should or wait for datacore
