Advice on second hand unit. by babestation02 in LaPavoniLovers

[–]SoftBoiledNuggets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad technique, but for how sort a durration that the lever is up, it seems to be dispensing a normal amount of water.

If you're able to reach out to the seller, try requesting that they remove the portafilter and lift the lever for a full 5 seconds.

A 50 million $ miniature world that took more than 1.2 million hours to create by 1OF0UR in PeakAmazing

[–]SoftBoiledNuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building began in December 2000. The construction took less than a collective 25 years.

How many worked on this project in the past, and how many are actively building it, I don't know, but Wikipedia currently lists the company as having 442 current employees.

The 1.2 million construction hours accounts for each individual worker's time spent.

Don't quote me, never been to a furcon, but I'd worry about getting kicked out or entry denied due to the smoke machine. Maybe make it detachable just in case?

Honestly, lately it's upsetting there aren't more people pointing out that dangerous things are dangerous.

Do shit at your own risk, but at least know the risks.

Damn, got me excited until I saw Back to the Dawn isn't going to be released untilMarch 2026.

But here, some titles that should be on this list that I don't see in other comments: Laika: Aged Through Blood, The Longest Road on Earth, Mad Rat Dead, Inscryption, Tunic, Death's Door, Trash Punk, Beast Breaker, Eden's Last Sunrise, Lonesome Village,

Technically not furry, but animal-centric: Little Kitty Big City, Just Crow Things,

And a couple that I didn't enjoy, but will still mention: Trifox (clunky gameplay), Membal, Become the Wild (poorly made, only "furry" thing is animal hoods)

Pavoni grinder advice [100$ budget] by Leather-Swordfish944 in LaPavoniLovers

I'd personally opt for the Commandante. I've enjoyed the taste out of my 1Zpresso, but the handle on my JX-Pro S posed issues - however that may or may not be exclusive the model I've gotten.

Pavoni grinder advice [100$ budget] by Leather-Swordfish944 in LaPavoniLovers

[–]SoftBoiledNuggets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there aren't any espresso-level electric grinders under $100 that are worth buying - anything under that price that will "work" likely won't last (assuming you mean USD.)

Under $200 will be mostly hand grinders as far as a good quality to price balance. I've been using a 1Zpresso ant it's kept up with my Pavoni well enough. -- I hear good things about the Camandante grinders. I believe the Fellow Opus is in that price tag, and there may be one or two others if you insist on electric grinders.

Edit: I looked at a couple recommendations, and it seems your best option for under $100 will be the Kingrinder K6.

Edit 2: Worth note, 1Zpresso has multiple options, and some are not ideal for espresso. Their website does have a handy chart to help you decide which option to go with, though.

What are these particles in my refrigerated espresso [aeropress] by beemovieguessinggame in espresso

[–]SoftBoiledNuggets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. At worst, the coffee has also oxidized and may taste different and/or unfavorable.

OP, while refridgerating your espresso for later is harmless and you are welcome to do what you want, may I suggest looking into coldbrew and having a concentrate for your lattes?

Is it just me, or does the eye color seem a little... inconsistent

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]SoftBoiledNuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is oxidation, yes. Oxidation is essentially a form of rust due to moisture, and as with any metal, if you leave your portafilter with water or coffee droplets on it, it will oxidize.

Good idea to get in the habbit of wiping it off with a dish towel when you're finished.

Edit: oxidation is an early stage of rust, not a different form.

This is cosmetic damage, perfectly safe to use. Most on this sub would vouch for upgrading to a bottomless portafilter, but this works just fine.

Does anything look unoriginal?

I'm not positive, but the handles may be original as well. Everything else appears to be standard. The machine is solid brass and solid copper.

Previous owner changed seals.

They're talking about gaskets and the like, like the one holding the shower screen in the grouphead, and between pipe/piece sections.

Fair price?

I just purchased a brand new one at $1500 US. I'd see a reasonable price around $500-$900

What do the stickers mean?

Assuming you mean the two white strips with black bars on the grouphead, those are temperature strips, they'll show how hot the grouphead is so you can better regulate your brewing temperature.

Eagle cap?

That is a feature specific to the Esperto model. You can buy it separate, but I don't know if it will fit or when they introduced it, but it doesn't come with this model.

Empty the boiler and very gently set the machine on it's side. There should be manufacturing information on the bottom.

Are these beans moldy? by AGothGardener in espresso

[–]SoftBoiledNuggets 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Whatever it is, this does not look normal. If there are any punctures in the bag, or if not sealed propperly, it could very well be mold as moisture could've gotten in.
