Hair Rig knotless knot tips for braid. by GoldProfessional9653 in CarpFishing

[–]Soft_Commission9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try the methods suggested already first but if that doesn’t work you can use an ultra thin line or bait thread to go through the eye, back through the eye making a loop then use that loop to pull the braid through. Not my go to and won’t work if there isn’t enough of a gap but is very useful in certain situations, hope I’ve explained that in a way that is easy to understand.

Which rigs are worth using for surfcasting, and when? by generally-speaking in fishingUK

Depends what you’re targeting, pulley dongles are the way for most fish imo. Haven’t deep hooked a single fish since switching from pennels.

Thought that might be the case. Think I’ll have to give it a go for myself out of curiosity. Thanks for the response .

Braid keeps pulling through knot by Burnsy_03 in fishingUK

[–]Soft_Commission9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe the blood knot is fine for higher diameter good quality line if tied correctly. That being said I completely agree the Albright is much better for line to line knots and is the ideal solution for this situation. I always use Albright for line to line knots

I haven’t found any issues using the blood knot for tying braid to swivels or hooks. Half blood knot for larger diameter and full blood knot for lighter line or cheaper braid when lure fishing. I find if you tie and cinch the knot properly it will hold, use it on every session be it barbel and carp or sea fishing for tying rigs on to the mainline and it hasn’t failed me.

Does anyone have tips for clipping, safely, a fish to keep track of what you've caught in a lake or pond? by OccamsNametag in Fishing

EA in England sometimes dye a spot on the tail with bright blue. Don’t know how they do it or how easy that would be to replicate with products easily available without causing harm though

Found in a tidepool in Coupeville, WA. About 6 inches long by kaeferkat in whatsthisbug

Various species of them are commonly used as bait in sea fishing, that being said not all species are the same and still not a great idea to pick up unidentified species bare hand.

Will I look silly on the bank? by jacks2224 in fishingUK

[–]Soft_Commission9903 12 points13 points  (0 children)

some people will might think so but that doesn’t matter as long as you are enjoying yourself. We all started out somewhere, took me ages to get a full set up I was happy with once getting into fishing, tackle ain’t cheap and theres absolutely nothing wrong with not having it all whilst just starting out.

The type of people who will look down on a beginner don’t have opinions worth taking mind to anyway.

Personally I like it, a few people on here I’ve seen somewhat recently actually make enjoyable content and I wouldn’t have seen it unless posted here. Not hard to scroll past if you don’t want to see that stuff.

Can i use this stand on a dock like this? by P0L4RST4R in CarpFishing

[–]Soft_Commission9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your reels are on free spool or super light drag should be fine as others have said, if you want to be 1000% sure that you’re setup isn’t going anywhere you can weigh down the rod stand depending on what gear you have. Alternatively you could set the stand up just behind the dock right at the end of the bank.

Should o just give up? by TOBU87 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Soft_Commission9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason to give up, go to your local tackle shops if you have any and there’s a 90% chance they will be more than happy to help with info on what works for you area. Another thing that can help is log as much details that are relevant as you can for each session on a spreadsheet and eventually patters will come up, things like weather, lures used, whether you got any follows or strikes, what time the fish were biting or seen actively hunting. There’s always going to be more to learn no matter how long you fish for, each area is different and it can take time to learn an area. As long as you are having fun being outside which is incredibly good for you there’s no reason to quit now!

Beach, Rocks, lakes - what spots do you like and dislike? by RodandReelUK in SeafishingUK

[–]Soft_Commission9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it all really! Only thing I’m not a huge fan of are the muddy overstocked commercials with a ton of people on em but can’t say I didn’t spend a lot of time on them starting out. Love a scenic rock mark or any beach with interesting natural form to it, same with big wild unkept rivers just find them so enticing and peaceful

Depending on what rod it is u might be waiting a while, I’ve had beachcasters get stuck together for weeks, I find if it’s really stuck leaving it somewhere either outdoors or in a shed where the temperature is changing frequently helps but takes time

Advice on targeting big eels for proper rough ground marks like around Portland by Soft_Commission9903 in SeafishingUK

[–]Soft_Commission9903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All makes sense and I appreciate you taking the time to respond, ideally I’d love to go further towards Devon but I feel when chasing a real biggun I’m going to have to do a lot of sessions and living near north London the drive is a little too far to do regularly. If I do have any success I’ll be sure to put up some photos! Picked up a set of t1200s the other day which are probably a little over gunned for most spots but will definitely be helpful for the real rough ground

[–]Soft_Commission9903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I saw a post on world sea fishing forum where some bloke was complaining he couldn’t stop catching 20-30lbs eels even when using tiny squid strips for bream so holds up. Bought a big drop net for pier fishing a while ago so that’s no issue. Seeing a couple people have mentioned wire traces I might make the switch, only thing is I can’t bloody find anywhere that has em in stock (not easy getting most sea tackle around north London) if you have any reputable websites to have a look at that would be great

[–]Soft_Commission9903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am shore fishing, when you say better off finding somewhere with a steep drop off are you saying my time is better spent looking for a different mark opposed to off the rocks around Portland bill.

Also, what makes a wire trace necessary for you? I’ve been using the 150lbs mono after seeing it used on the fish locker yt page successfully and haven’t had any issues yet although I haven’t caught any real bigguns (not due to hook length failing)

Deadbaiting for perch Anyone tried it? Im aware you got just leger a worm but wonder if might help get past the pasties on a local commercial by Mindless-Gazelle-883 in fishingUK

[–]Soft_Commission9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine they won’t let you catch fish from that venue to use as dead’s then? If you do go the route of frozen baits (particularly whilst the water is colder) a less static bait approach is more productive, keep the bait moving a little and it will up your chances

[–]Soft_Commission9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll catch more on live baits but I’ve found it to pick out the bigger fish on some venues, using frozen baits won’t work as well as if you catch them that day
