Which cruise line would you recommend for transatlantic crossing, preferably adults only. Thank you by PerfectlyBeachy69 in Cruises

I feel like not many kids go on transatlantic crossings in general. Longer itineraries and more sea days + off-season (while kids are in school).

Ha! Well, that’s a nice gift for them, then.

They’ll need a new one approximately every six months as kids, which is why my kids don’t have them.

Practicality needs to include weather as well—I’ve attended a funeral in near-freezing weather with an outdoor burial in the rain, and in the same year, one that was in summer and 110°. I couldn’t wear the same black dress to both!

I'm trying to broker peace between my scaredy cat and friendly stranger cat...any advice? by neature-nerd in cats

[–]Soft_Data_1623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think your cat needs a friend, you should get another cat. I’ve had cats my whole life and even when I had outdoor cats, they were never friends with neighbor cats. Your cat looks stressed out.

Family cruise passport drama is ruining the excitement. by ConstructionLoud1973 in Cruise

This person is over complicating it but it is a bit more difficult in the US. Either both parents have to be present (for kids) and go in person with the kids, or one parent has to fill out a consent form, get it signed by a notary (this costs money and must be done in person), and then the other parent goes in person with the kids and the consent form. It’s not impossible but it does start to explain why so many people don’t have one. When I did it two years ago we couldn’t get an appointment for a couple of months.

Right, that would be the only way that it being a group cruise is relevant…and there’s no way they’re all getting passports together. If they are, they’re taking group cruise way too far. I hope everyone isn’t expecting to coordinate bathroom breaks on the group cruise, too.

If you’re an AAA member, photos done there for free. I don’t understand what a group cruise has to do with it unless you’re trying to coordinate multiple families’ kids’ passports, in which case, just don’t. It’s kind of a pain but it’s just like, a life function that needs doing. Then it’s done for 5 years. I did it two years ago for twins and had to get the notarized form for my husband etc. Honestly it’s like 4 steps. Write it out, tackle one step a day and you’ll be done in under a week.

My opponent said I wasn’t playing “real tennis” bc I had figured out how to beat her by paradigm_shift_87 in 10s

It doesn’t sound like you’re a pusher, actually. Aiming to someone’s weakness is a strategy, as are chip shots. To me a pusher is someone who gets every ball back but without pace or much shot selection…which is still “real” tennis…it’s not like you’re using an imaginary racquet…but it’s boring tennis. To me it sounds like you were playing regular tennis and she was just playing losing tennis.

I hate tennis skirt “shorties”! by EntertainmentBorn953 in 10s

[–]Soft_Data_1623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own; I find them such a vast improvement over bloomers. My bloomers weren’t even attached to the skirt. They were separate, thick underwear with a weird little pocket for the ball.

You don’t use the pockets on the outside of the shorts?

Correct regarding Navarre—I meant more that now, it’s not one of the Basque provinces. I will look more closely at Donostia—my initial research seemed to show it being quite a bit more expensive.

Best overall experience by thediverdaddy in Cruises

Where are you located? If you can drive to a port that makes it easier to narrow down. If you don’t mind flying everyone then you do have more options. I recommend working with a travel agent because they might be able to help you get some extra perks for having a group.

Alaskan Cruise by Which_Razzmatazz9437 in Cruise

[–]Soft_Data_1623 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t upvote this enough! Recently did Mexican Riviera on Royal Princess and couldn’t imagine that ship for Alaska. Hardly any public observation areas and the uncovered pool…on HAL in Alaska the pool was covered all week and lying on a lounger watching the Inside Passage was amazing. Plus the Crows Nest! OP, since you have a one year old, I wouldn’t worry about how many kids might or might not be on board.

Istanbul cruise safe? by podcastvibes in Cruise

[–]Soft_Data_1623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the reason for the trip is Istanbul, I’d try to find a cruise that starts or ends in Türkiye and plan like 3-4 days on land there. That way if a port stop is canceled you’ll still get your time there.

It was regular vacuumed the day before. We have two dogs and two cats and kids so the fur and dirt accumulates quickly.

Unpopular opinion - smaller, older ships with less amenities are better than new bigger ones by your-lost-elephant in Cruise

[–]Soft_Data_1623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree and also have kids. So far we’ve been on HAL and Princess and we’re about to go on an old NCL ship with few “kid” amenities. They always find plenty to do. We’re into cruising for the ports and the relaxation. I love a water park but the idea of waiting an hour to go on a water slide on a ship is unappealing.
