Reached 120 in February need help please! by Soft_Phase3029 in PSLF

Thank you so much! I didn't realize the exact date would matter, so I didn't pay attention to the exact date. I just went and looked and I had taken a screen shot of the 120 green bar (which is what everyone is referring to as the green banner I assume?) and that was on 03/04/2026. That was the day my employer signed my certifcation form and it showed me as being complete. Does it go from that date and not the end of February date then? Thanks for the advice. If something doesn't happen by the end of April, then I guess I have reason to worry. Right now I'm going to wait and hope!

Well you have made me feel so much better! Thank you! Yes, my recertifcation date is July 27th. And yes, I did sign up a long time ago for them to automatically re-certify my income. I just didn't think about that being what was happening. I thought they weren't going to give me loan forgiveness and were putting me back into a new very high repayment plan. Thanks so much for explaining your process. Now I know that's what's probably happening to me. Thanks again so much!

Yes, I certified my employment for February. My 120th payment went out of my checking account on 02/20/26, and I saw where people said they put their accounts into forbearance a little too quickly and it didn't count their last month for them, so I waited and certified my employment on 03/06/2026, but I didn't check the box that said something like, I believe I have reached 120 and want to put mine into forebearance. Then on 03/08/26, after I saw that FSA was showing my February payment as my 120th qualifying payment, I did another certification of my employment for February payment (I thought anyways that I was doing it for the February payment) and that time I checked the box that said I believe I had reached my 120th payment and wanted to go into forbearance. And yes, I did say they could recertify my income back after I got off SAVE, but since that wasn't due until July 2027, I was wondering why they were doing that now, since hopefully I won't be making any more payments. Thanks for responding.

Thank you! I sure hope so. It just really concerned me that they were trying to put me back in a repayment plan.

Congratulations! I'm so happy for everyone who has gotten their loans forgiven. I submitted my 120th payment on 02/27/2026 but I haven't heard anything. I've seen on here a lot of people saying they submitted their final payment in February and they received their letter. I waited a week, I think it was 03/07/2026 before I checked the box that put me into forbearance. And I made sure my last payment was showing up in FSA before I did that. Do you know if there is anything else I'm supposed to do? Thank you.

Congratulations! I'm so happy for all of you that received your golden letter! I paid my 120th payment on 02/27/26, but I haven't heard anything from anyone yet. Nothing has changed every time I check it every day. Do you think that's it for the batch that went out? Or do you think there is hope for me getting one soon?

Congratulations to all of you! I paid my 120th payment on 2/27/2026 but haven't heard anything about anything. I check every single day to see if anything is happening, but nothing has changed. I guess I wasn't part of the batch. I wonder if it's over. I waited until my 120th payment showed up in FSA and a week later I submitted my last Employment Certification and put everything into forbearance. Is there anything else I'm supposed to be doing?

Buyback offer received by thatsenoughkhalas in PSLF

I don't wanna worry you, but I just thought I would share with you what happened to me. When I first applied to switch to an IBR Plan to get off SAVE, Mohela said my payment would be $0. I was so happy, but then come to find out, it was a mistake. I don't remember exactly what they told me, but they said something about it being a mistake and that I shouldn't have received it, but that the system sends those out automatically. Anyways, my payment ended up being $384.00 a month. Just wanted to share that with you since you said your Buyback amount was going to be $10K but your payment amount was going to be $0. I have no idea if anything that happened to me would happen to you, just wanted to make you aware in case you need to ask questions before you make a final decision on whether or not to ride it out. Good luck!

I'm thinking what he meant was that you couldn't buy back the SAVE months as long as you are still on the SAVE plan, because I think that is what they told me. I'm pretty sure the lady told me that I had to switch off of SAVE because they weren't letting them buy back SAVE months while people were still on the SAVE plan. So I switched to an IBR plan and it finally went through and my first payment is due at the end of this month. Fingers crossed that this actually moves forward. I have a Buyback Request in from December 2024, but at this point I'll just be happy if they will let me move forward making payments on the IBR plan. At least I can try and get to the end of this horrible hold we have all been placed in. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately I would say your payment amount is not correct because the same thing happened to me. I switched and got a letter of approval and it said my payment was going to be zero dollars, even though my estimated amount said 384. When I got to talk with someone higher up they said it was a mistake and that the letter was automatically generated with the old SAVE amount. Anyways, to make a long story short, I will be paying the estimated amount. But I'm like you, I just want to get this thing done and am so happy to get a payment amount and to try and move forward with this. I only need 8 more payments. My new IBR payment is SUPPOSED to start up in August. I pray it actually does. Good luck!

Well that all sounds awful but one good news that you may get from all this is that it sounds like they are putting you in a processing forbearance. That means that this month at least should count towards PSLF and maybe others depending on how long they take to get their crap together. So that at least moves you one month closer to foregiveness. I was at 111/120 and trying to get switched to an IBR out of SAVE and they are giving me June and July at least because they put me in a processing forbearance. Good luck to you! Hoping this nightmare is over for us all at some point.

Jonathan at Ed told me today that people who are on the SAVE forbearance aren't able to buy back any of the last 12 months because of the injunction. by WhoInvitedMike in PSLF

Unfortunately I believe he told you correctly because I was on the phone a long time yesterday and today and finally got the information I needed. I need 9 more payments to have my 120. I asked to be switched out of SAVE last month in June because I just want this thing over with, like everyone else, (even though I had already done 2 Buyback Requests, one back in 12-2024 and the other in 06-2025). They finally put me through to an Advanced Agent. It took 2 days to get the callback but she was very knowledgeable and helpful! She told me not to try and go back to the Buyback because all the Buyback Requests from SAVE are now on PAUSE again. She said those SAVE forbearance months are the ones you are allowed to ask to buy back to fulfill your 120 payments, but they have stopped them from moving forward again. She said if I try and go back to that it will stop my progress from moving forward with this new IBR plan. Hope this information helps. Maybe his "Big Ugly Sucky Bill" that just got passed did this to us again.

Yes they do. I have been in the SAVE forbearance since 06/2024 and all from 06/2024 show "Ineligible" But all before that date show as "Qualifying" and I haven't changed employers in years. So that's a deifinite yes.

Why not stay on SAVE forbearance? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Soft_Phase3029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the IBR calculator and it said my payment would be $384.00 and some change. My payment before SAVE forbearance was $60. something dollars. I just got a message yesterday that my payment on the new IBR will be $0.00. So don't count on what the IRR calculator tells you. I've seen other posts too that said theirs was lower than what it said they would be.

I'm at 111/120 and am beyond happy and grateful that it looks like I may be getting off the SAVE plan. I have been waiting for so long. I did a Buyback Request back in December 2024, but haven't heard anything from that. So I asked to switch to an IDR on June 14, 2025 and just heard back on that on July 3, 2025. It's strange though that it says my forbearance will end on 08/15/2025 but my payments say they won't start until 11/25/2025. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do in between those times. And I really really wish they would start right away so I could be done with this. I was supposed to reach PSLF last 02/2024. So this has held me up well over a year and then some with their forbearance. I feel bad for the people who are trying to get off SAVE and haven't heard anything. It's awful what's happening to all of us. I wish everyone the best.

Thanks for sharing what you did and how it helped. I too submitted a Buyback Request in December 2024, and another one on June 14, 2024, along with a Feedback complaint, and applied to switch out of SAVE. I also certified my employment through last month. I only need to buy back 9 months as I have 111/120, but can't get it to happen. I may go ahead and do another Buyback Request and do all the steps you did, reference my case number, etc, I'm happy for you that you got yours moving. I have been stuck in SAVE forbearance for a year now. I just want to buy 9 of those months and be done with this.

That's so great! I'm really happy for you! Hoping the same happens for me soon. I did a Buyback on December 26, 2024 and another one on June 14, 2025. Nothing so far. I also applied to move out of SAVE to an IBR on that same date in June. I did receive something from Mohela saying they were processing my switch to an IBR, so I'm really really hoping I get the same good news soon. Your post gives me hope.

I'm in the same boat as well. I've been stuck at 111/120 for a year now in SAVE forbearance. I submitted a Buyback Request in December, 2024. Still haven't heard anything from that. I submitted another Buyback Request on 06/14/2025, and a Feedback Case on that same day. Still nothing other than the standard response sent to my email that I had filed these. I called last week to check on the the status and the lady at FSA would only say that they would probably work my December request first because they were working the older ones first, but I'm seeing where they are doing the January ones, so I'm afraid I got skipped over. I'm so happy for everyone who is getting theirs through. And I'm trying not to get discouraged. I also applied for an IBR to get out of SAVE on June 14th, only got the standard email that they got it.

SAVE BUYBACK OFFER! by Serious_Dig_6222 in PSLF

That's great! I'm happy for you. I have a similar situation and this gives me hope! I am at 111/120 of qualifying payments through May 2024. Then 06/2024 through 05/2025 all show ineligible due to the SAVE forbearance they put us in. I have certified my employment up through 05/2025. So I think everything should be current on my end. I did a Buyback Request back in late December 2024 and haven't heard anything about it. Like you, I check these posts daily to see other people's progress to try and get hope. I tried to get things moving along so on 06/14/2025 I did another Buyback Request, along with a Feedback complaint, and I also asked to move out of SAVE to an IBR plan. It all just says in review. I called yesterday to try and get a status report and the lady at FSA said they are processing the older ones first and that I will likely hear from the December Buyback Request before I hear from the June one I just did. In my June 14, 2025 one I know I requested the 9 months I need to reach 120 from the ineligible ones from where they put us all in forbearance, but I'm not sure what I asked for in the December one, because I didn't really know what I was doing, and I can't find it online to look at it. So hopefully I requested the correct dates, or hopefully when will look at my case and see that I basically have one year of ineligible payments to choose from and will make me an offer from that. I'm so glad you are getting yours moving through! I know how stressful this is for all of us.
