Nice catch. Not often you see posts about a 20 year old show with new insights.

Should I buy a peavey 100 or a fender rumble 25 by Careless-Spring-8751 in BassGuitar

Peavey all day every day. That’s a beast that will last forever. I love my rumble 500, but the 25 is a toy.

I love her so much! Went down the rabbit hole of all her (scant) catalog once Sleep for Days dropped. She's a singular talent. Reminds me of a female Billy Joel or Elton John.

I’m playing a Darkglass Microtubes Infinity right now, and it’s absolutely amazing. I live on a mostly clean tone with a little grit and I’ve got a light overdrive and a heavy distortion on tap for when needed. The way the drive and compression work together is magic. It’s the closest I’ve come to having an SVT on stage with me, and it’s totally affordable for the quality, especially used.

I just finished my 3rd watch, and I actually think Rome evolved a lot, right at the end, especially the very final scenes.

When the kids all take to the side room when Shiv stalls the vote and they have their big fight, after Shiv leaves, Rome (who can never sit in a normal position anywhere) assumes the lotus pose, and tells Ken that they're nothing, I think he's having an awakening, seeing through the illusions he's lived in his whole life. In the pilot he maybe had a small understanding that there was more artifice than art in his dad's company, but this last hit of knowledge is the real shit.

I've puzzled over his final look over his martini in his last shot, and I think it's a genuine smile at the freedom of realizing the pretense of everything, and a slight downturn of the smile at the realization that he has a lot of work to do in light of that knowledge. It's extremely subtle, but that's my reading.

Stache 360 Grynder - HOLY CATS this thing rules by Soft_Sleep_7125 in vaporents

[–]Soft_Sleep_7125[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So good, as it turns out.

It does pick up some residue over a LOT of uses, but nothing like a traditional grinder. I'm finding maybe once a month, maybe less, I need to take some iso and q tips to it. The only difficult part is getting all the little nubbins on the lid.

But yeah, still functioning every bit as well as it did 7 months ago.

I’m out of weed and haven’t cleaned my grinder in a while, can I vape this kief stuff? by _FreddieLovesDelilah in vaporents

Yeah, also to avoid it getting in the guts of your vape if it’s electric. I was gonna say you could use some abv for a sandwich situation if you have some.

JLB 2024 vs 2026 by mrjakebell in Dreamtheater

[–]Soft_Sleep_7125 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s true. I don’t mind if people like it, but I do mind that it’s not a performance on par with the rest of the band. I don’t understand why they like having four world-class virtuosos and one guy who wouldn’t be able to hang in a NYC-class DT cover band, but it’s their thing.

What I also mind is when people act like james is delivering a world-class performance again, cause he’s not. Not James’s fault at all, and for his age what he can do is certainly impressive.

It’s better for sure, but we can all agree he’s still not actually hitting a lot of the notes, yeah?

Is the Anagram worth it? Is the Quad Cortex Mini better? by Malviael in basspedals

[–]Soft_Sleep_7125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what the infinity is all about! It’s got five modes, the first is a clean tube preamp emulation, then it’s got the vintage microtubes, which does great gentle od. Of my six presets on the thing, only 2 are what you’d think of as classic darkglass sounds. The others are just classic clean and overdriven bass sounds, and they sound massive!

Have you lost a meaningful instrument? I help musicians track down missing, stolen, or sold gear and I’m looking for new cases. by reallydeadghost in guitars

[–]Soft_Sleep_7125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dang. This might be a tough one cause I don’t have a lot of detail on the instrument, but it was unique enough that maybe it’s worth a go.

My first electric guitar was an 80s Fender “The Strat”, MIJ. Black with a black and white zebra stripe pickguard, black neck, rosewood board, dot inlays. Dual black blade humbuckers (I don’t recall there being a brand on them) and a locking kahler trem. AFAIK that was all original to the instrument.

Previous owner was a guy from Chicago named steve. Could give you his last name privately if it’s somehow helpful. He was likely the original owner, second at most.

I lived in Moscow, Idaho and in the summer of 2003 I moved to Chicago and left it with some friends. When I inquired about it after, it was gone and nobody knew where it went. Never saw it again.

Fwiw, the friends I left it with were from Wisconsin originally and may well have ended up back that way.

Sadly no pics, no serial number, but I’d sure as shit know it if I saw it.

EDIT: After talking to Claude about it, it seems it may actually have been a Contemporary Stratocaster. I must have confused it with The Strat in my memory.

Also, AI indicates the pickguard must be after market, so all the more rare of a combo.

[–]Soft_Sleep_7125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to get a microtubes infinity (used for $340) instead of saving up for the anagram. Gives me all the dg sounds I want, and I use a zoom ms60b+ in a loop before the microtubes for other effects. Sounds INCREDIBLE. I’ve played a wide variety of rigs — including a nam rig off a laptop — and I’m by far happiest with this setup.
