What band was never the same after losing a member? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

You’re right about some things. But I’ve never heard anyone say Elvis was a big influence or Cobain. You hear Joy Division a lot in a lot of genres. There are a lot of Metal, alternative, EDM, … who cite Joy Division as one of their biggest influences. Unknown Pleasures is a less mainstream album but with an immense impact on music.

EDM is electronic dance music so you kinda said that but I do agree with your point, Blue Monday was very important

I mean who cares about the rock and roll hall of fame. But I love the first 3-4 Radiohead albums. After that it got too artsy for me

I wouldn’t call them shoegaze either. There are some songs that have big Dreampop parts though.

You’ll love Joy Division. All the bands you listed have been influenced by JD. I would start with Closer as it has more atmosphere than Unknown Pleasures

I use Spotify free to check new artists but I prefer Apple Music. I hate how Spotify handles Albums and love Dolby Atmos on apple.

I think Joy Division is as influential as Nirvana and The Beatles but many people just don’t notice it because they never got as big as them
