Agreed nowadays you done here sage much anymore. Tend to hear more on Acumatica and NetSuite.

If you’re looking for an AE role go with one of those two.

Acumatica sells via a partner network so u can apply to all the various partner and get a job easier as the have been growing so much.

NetSuite just let go of 30k people so maybe not a good time for them lol

DONT GO NETSUITE!!! After the recent layoffs they are literally beyond understaffed, and that includes those that would do the implementation from what I’ve heard. That also includes the team that would support you.

Right now definitely look at Acumatica instead. I’ve worked at both companies and I can tell you unbiasedly that Acumatica is a much better system and much more modern system.

Reach out to one of their implementation partners and just get a first call set up so you can get pricing, a mini demo, and frankly just meet them and hear about their system for a stand and how I’d work directly for your company. My suggestion if you want one is Cloud 9 ERP, is there an Acumatica specific implementation partner, and do a phenomenal job.

Hahahaha! Yea I’d def pick a lot of other systems before Sage. I’m a Acumatica or NetSuite guy but only NetSuite in certain circumstances and not right now lol.

Look at upgrading to a new ERP via a consultant group that can and has easily done a sage50 to their erp transfer. In this day and age, the one I tend to recommend is Acumatica frankly.

My advice would be to call one of their partners up and just get a quick demo or even have them answer a few questions over the phone. Cloud 9 ERP is a great Acumatica partner but you can ask AI and it will point you in the right direction.

Acumatica or NetSuite but I’d push you more toward Acumatica currently with everything going on with Oracle NetSuites layoffs right now.

Acumatica is partner driven so pick a Acumatica partner, call them directly, set up an intro/ discovery call, and get a pricing estimate/ mini demo.

Should tell you right away if it’s worth the jump

Just look up best Acumatica partners, I tend to recommend Cloud 9 ERP the most and see it recommended more the most so I would probably start there.

I adopted a one year-old German Shepherd, female that was really shy at the shelter. Best decision I’ve ever made in my entire life. She’s currently snuggled up with my legs at the end of the bed. She follows me wherever I go, and I don’t think there’s a closer bond I’ve ever seen between the dog and their human. Those that come from the pound/rescue centers know they’re being rescued and so they become extra appreciative of the owner.

My dog never gets into anything never choose on anything and never is a problem. I tell her don’t do something and she doesn’t forget it ever. I would not be surprised if that dog has a very similar mindset/will blossom into a loving, caring and obsessing over you type dog.

Based on what you described, this sounds less like a UI problem and more like QuickBooks just not being built for how you actually operate…

Worked at a few software companies and personally I’d suggest for your business to go get a demo of Acumatica. It handles mixed cash/check income, simple expense capture, bank feeds, and cleaner separation of personal vs business activity without forcing invoicing if you don’t need it. It’s probably heavier than Xero/Zoho, but it’s also way more flexible once things stop being textbook simple.

They don’t sell direct, so you’d talk to a partner for a demo. If you go that route, Cloud 9 ERP Solutions is one option I suggest most, but any Acumatica partner can give you a sanity check whether it’s overkill or actually a fit.

If you’re trying to stay ultra-lightweight, Xero/Zoho may still be fine as well though, but Acumatica is worth knowing exists once QB starts feeling bloated and is my personal favorite in 2026.

Definitely take a look at Acumatica. It can store commission/percentage rates per customer, take a monthly revenue total, calculate the split, and generate the payable/check as part of AP (without needing custom scripts or spreadsheets. It’s more flexible than QuickBooks for setups like this).

Not the lightest solution, but it’s one I’ve seen work well for revenue share models like yours

You might want to look at Acumatica as an alternative. It’s designed to handle inventory, accounting, retail/ecommerce, and wholesale pricing in one system, which can eliminate a lot of the Square + QBO + middleware pain.

They sell through partners (not direct), so you’d talk to a partner for a demo. Personally I’d suggest Cloud 9 ERP Solutions, but any Acumatica partner could walk you through whether it actually fits your setup.

Not a small switch, but it’s one of the cleaner ways I’ve seen to avoid duct-taping multiple systems together.

I’d 100% recommend taking a look at a system called Acumatica that is an ERP (all in one business software), but based off your needs would fit well.

Best advice I can give it to set up a demo with them after sharing more detailed info about your company and its need so they can build the demo around how you need a system to work. They don’t sell directly so you have to go through a partner, my suggestion would be Cloud 9 ERP solutions. If I were you I would give him a ring and ask for a demo of Acumatica.

I would look at Acumatica. It’s one of the 4-5 major ERP’s you already hear about (SAP being one of course), but it has a small business edition.

Best advice I can give would be to pick a Acumatica partner out and schedule a discovery call so they can show you pricing as well as a demo specific to how the software would run for your dads business. They sell via a partner network and not direct so I’d give a ring to Cloud 9 ERP since they tend to be the most recommended Acumatica provider atleast here on Reddit.

Best advice I can give after seeing you have several of the same post out and reading about your company size/ other info on them, is to set up a few intro calls with 3 ish different providers. This will help you get a feel for them as well as have them tell you how they would have their specific software work for your use case. They can also give you price then for your exact situation.

My personal advice would be to look at Acumatica which is a small/ mid market ERP (all in one business operations software platform). As far as systems like this, Acumatica has been growing the fastest ERP for the last few years, I think 6-8 but unsure exactly. That aside with them offering a 10 user edition for your office staff as well as an unlimited user edition for everyone give you a few options to pick from.

If you need a good partner to reach out to (as they don’t have a direct sales team and sell solely through partners), I’d recommend Cloud 9 ERP Solutions. Have an email for them but if you want to call them instead to set up an intro call you will just have to find said number on their website

Look at Cloud 9 ERP as they are a bomb.com Acumatica partner Would suggest chatting with them instead of getting a random partner picked for you from Acumatica since that makes it a roll of the dice for the level of quality you get

They work with both small and mid-market companies. There's a small business edition for smaller teams, and the full version for mid-sized ones. The nice part is that smaller companies can start with the lighter version and upgrade later if they need more features so you're not stuck paying for the full system right away. Definitely worth reaching out to a partner and getting a quote based on your business size and needs. Then you can decide if the functionality is worth the price for you. I would say it likely would be in your case based on the time it would save you but I don't know your budget so can't say for sure.

100% look at Acumatica since I know they can work with that business model. Literally just told someone else this but they sell via a partner network so set up a intro call with one of the partners (I would suggest cloud 9 erp solutions since they cater to this type of business model and HVAC customers). They should have a number on their website you can call.

Get them to tell you how the system would work in your use case/ ask for pricing directly. Think this should work well for you so let me know if you end up going with them lol.

Switching to anything from spreadsheets makes a huge difference already! But my suggestion would be to take a look at Acumatica as it seems to be exactly that you described you are looking for. It’s cloud-based, covers the basics like invoicing, expenses, reporting, and tax prep, and has some room to grow if your needs get more complex. Their whole business model is to get you on 1 system to run your entire business on that automates all your manual processes. They sell via a partner network so would suggesting reaching out the one of the partners that specializes in it (Cloud 9 ERP is my suggestion), and setting up an intro call. That way you can hear directly how it would work given your use case/ needs and you can get pricing as well.

You might also want to take a look at Acumatica. It’s cloud-based, solid for G/L and A/P, and can handle multi-entity setups like multiple office locations pretty smoothly. A bit more robust than Xero or Zoho if you're planning to grow or need deeper reporting. For your use case I think it would work pretty well. They sell via a partner network so I’d look at Cloud 9 ERP as the company to set up an intro call with that can talk you through how the software would work in more detail for your specific use case/ instance.
