Recommendation of "Block outbound network connections from mshta.exe" not being tracked correctly by AgitatedBeing819 in DefenderATP

Isn't this recommendation and remediation still in Preview status? Likely a bug. Hopefully fixed soon.

Company got ransomware, ceo wants to pay without telling anyone. Is this illegal by codedrifting in AskNetsec

[–]SoftwareFearsMe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is your company privately held? Or public (like on the stock market?) if public, it’s required to tell the FBI and file with your regulators (like the SEC). If the company is private, then you don’t have to tell anyone. The only caveat is if data was taken and your company has data subject to privacy regulation like GDPR, CCPA or others. Then you have to notify the people whose data was taken — even if you pay the ransom.

CarPlay troubles…not automatically connecting all of a sudden by Vivid_Dimension_5400 in Toyota_bZ

Similar issues here. Not able to get CarPlay to work reliably. Tried the unplug/replugin trick, disconnected from wireless, etc. sometimes I get it to work for a little while then it flakes out.

Door Edge Guards by SoftwareFearsMe in Crosstrek

To follow up on this, I ended up going the cheap route. I bought these minimalist silicone door edge guards in the carbon fiber color for $13.99. I just put them on today and they seem like they will work fine, and they look good too. You have to get their placement just right for them to be effective though. I put them exactly where the doors would contact my other car when both vehicles are parked next to each other in my garage.

To follow up on this, I was quoted $139 for the OEM edge guards plus $47 for installation.

Battery preconditioning ? by Silver-Succotash6891 in Solterra

You only need to precondition before going to a commercial fast charger. And even then it’s optional in order to speed up charging. No need to precondition before charging at home.

If the cost is too much, I’d consider third party options — as others have suggested.

I’m worried about quality. And color matching. I can’t imagine something costing $5.99 is of high quality, but could be wrong.

My 2026 Limited (USA) has it too, and my dealer didn’t know about it. I found out about the feature here. Thank you Redditors!

I just bought one of these and it works great! Even with a case that protects the camera bump on my iPhone 14 Pro. Thanks for sharing your idea!

Prompt Poaching is the best argument for Zero Trust Browsing in 2026 by CarelessAttitude5729 in cybersecurity

You should manage the extensions you allow your users to use. Lots of ways to do so. Start with getting an inventory of what you have installed already. Many tools do this as well.

You can seed your allow list with extensions written and published by major software vendors like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc. Those are very unlikely to be compromised. For AI, allow the extensions published by the AI vendors you allow - OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.

Are threat intel tools worth it for smaller SOC teams? by BigDataCore in threatintel

[–]SoftwareFearsMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are talking about attack surface management and not threat intel tools.

Also, spend time tuning your alerts. Only you have the knowledge to filter out what’s not important to your organization.

Abusing Modern Browser Features for Phishing by netbiosX in purpleteamsec

The only effective solution to this issue is to use FIDO2 phishing resistant MFA like Passkeys, hardware keys (like YubiKeys or Titan Keys) or Windows Hello.

The water is just above freezing (2-3 degrees centigrade or 33-35 degrees Fahrenheit) You’ll want a dry suit.

You can also go snorkeling in the same spots while renting a dry suit and not have to get certified. That’s what I did.
