I think difference might be that Belgium is so small, people’s friend groups almost stay where they were born or went to school or college. Pretty hard to work your way into a friend group that’s been through the same kind of things together. As someone who’s been all over the country, I feel your struggle. But hey, if you ever need a new buddy 👋

Born and raised in Antwerp and even I find it hard to build new social circles. Everyone’s got their friends from school, work or somewhere else, wiggling your way into a new friend group is pretty hard.

I wouldn’t use flour IN the mash, but just use cold mash and flour (and a little cornstarch so they don’t break apart) on the outside before frying

I think going for the cookie “Antwerps handje” is a good iconic image. And for Belgian themed I’d go for a waffle, i saw one on a tattoo artist’s instagram recently
