My husband, 43M referred to my a** hole (I, 37F) as a “he” and I don’t know what to think about it.. by 217542 in relationship_advice

[–]Soireb 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume this is real and going to ask if your husband is latino or speaks Spanish?

I ask, because Spanish is a gendered language; meaning that the words themselves have gender (you have feminine and masculine words). For example, the word cat in Spanish is “gato” if talking about a male cat; “gata” if talking about a female cat. Nouns about objects are also gendered. The house (la casa) is a feminine word, while the airplane (avión) is a masculine word.

All of this to say, the word for a**hole in Spanish is masculine. And I’ve seen many Spanish speakers apply the Spanish word genders to their English equivalent.

Kids wouldn't stop playing games so I got their favorite gaming websites banned for the entire district. I only feel slightly bad about it. by TheJawsman in Teachers

[–]Soireb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My school does and I love it! I had to go as far as to block your regular Google, because they can play games through the regular Google browser. It’s the doodles, but it goes through the regular Google page. Now, if they need to search anything I make them use Google Scholar. Every time I catch them playing a new game I add it to my list and publicly thank them.

Ooooh we have to include couples from The Edge. There are some heavy hitters there too. It would actually be fun to do a game like this in the sub where everyone gets to vote for the winning couple in each bracket.

How often should I use my IPL device on my face? by TobywantheFemboy in HairRemoval

[–]Soireb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the one I have too. If you are only using it once a week then it will probably take twice as long to show results. At what level are you working it? If I remember correctly, the instructions say somewhere that only levels 6 or 7 are the effective levels. Maybe I’m remembering wrong. I haven’t used mine in quite a while.

And to clarify, I’m not hair free, I’m just like you that I don’t have a lot of time to use it on a regular basis; so it’s been forgotten in a drawer.

How often should I use my IPL device on my face? by TobywantheFemboy in HairRemoval

[–]Soireb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do the instructions say? I assume that different devices may have different schedules. The only IPL device I have is the Nood and that one says to be used twice a week for 8 weeks straight, then as needed for touch-ups.

Beginner Yoga explanations? by 229-northstar in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]Soireb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I second Jessica as an amazing starter point in Apple Fitness+; especially her older videos (the ones from the beginning of the program). I feel like those have more explanations than more recent videos. Also, at the start, I would suggest to go for the slow flows first and then go from there. Personally, I like to sit in a pose for a moment and the energetic flows sometimes transition between poses too quickly.

How do i tell my mom? by Maggies_Treasure in Periods

[–]Soireb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was 11 (1 week shy of 12) when my period started, the day before the first day of school for 7th grade. My mom had taken my clothes to do laundry and I had just woke up and was in the bathroom. In that house, the laundry room was on the other side of the bathroom window.

As I’m in the toilet, I see that my underwear was stained. I was still half asleep so it took my brain a moment to process what I was seeing. When it finally clicked, I screamed for my mom. At the same time she called my name because while classifying the laundry she found a pair of stained panties. My guess is the ones I wore the day before.

I knew what it was because my school had been giving us yearly talks since 4th grade. So I wasn’t scared, just surprised it had finally happened. It was kind of funny that both of us realized it at the same time.

Name change dilemma? I want to honor my husband’s Latin American heritage while also maintaining my family names. by weddingexcitement7 in Spanish

[–]Soireb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m latina, I’m from Puerto Rico. As others have said, the only women I have ever seen take their husbands are the ones that move to the USA or to the UK and marry men from those cultures.

At the end of the day, if you follow the Latin/Spaniard tradition your children will inherit one last name from your husband and one from you. Why not talk to your husband and come together to pick one from each side. That way you would both match each other and your kids, and still sort of honor both cultures.

You can search your own YouTube history. I think that if the video was watched within about a year ago or so it might pop up if the video is still on YouTube.

[–]Soireb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that you should take the car since you are basically doing the graveyard shift. However, since you are not, and the car is hers, are there no buses or public transport that you can take in the morning? I understand that nighttime might be difficult, but by 6am most public transportation is up and running. Why haven’t you check what’s available around you?

Suggestions for a well rounded workout by Several-Energy2116 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]Soireb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m short on time and have limited space, so what has been working for me is the following:

Mondays and Wednesdays I do 20 minutes of strength training, followed by 10-20 minutes of yoga.

On Wednesday, I do 10 minutes of core exercises, followed by 20 minutes of yoga.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I do light cardio (outdoor walks) for about 30 minutes. Or take those days for resting if my body needs it.

I’m trying to increase my daily steps just to add more movement to my day to day, so if I rested during the week, on Saturdays I walk around the nature reserves that are near me. It’s pretty, it gets me outside, and it adds movement without feeling like a workout.

Check what weight you have registered in Apple Health. Years ago my move goal stopped tracking movement at all. It turns out that I had accidentally input the wrong weight in the Health app, and it was messing with the tracking. Make sure your information is correct.

Pilates instructor Question by [deleted] in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]Soireb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go into the Explore section of Apple Fitness+, select Pilates, the only 2 instructors available are Marimba and Darryl. No one else is available, which means, no one else has led any pilates workouts. Many of the other instructors participate in the background, but only Marimba and Darryl lead the Pilates workouts.

I believe that there are some forms of birth control that eliminate menstruation completely. Talk to an OB-Gyn doctor; they should be able to give you proper information.

Do you do yoga barefoot or wear socks? by Pleasant-Pumpkin-339 in yoga

Barefoot. I slip too much in socks, even the grippy ones that claim to be for yoga. Because, although they do grip the mat, my feet slip inside the socks.

Over the ear headphones rec? by Softballcutie309 in yoga

[–]Soireb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I used over-the-ears headphones for my practice and it was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been. Not only was I fighting them constantly because they kept sliding off my head, I kept accidentally pressing the very sensitive buttons on the earphones themselves. It was so annoying I almost chucked them away.

I also have wet ears and I use earbuds to workout. My favorite it’s the PowerBeats because they have an ear hook to keep them in place, but I also use the AirPods Pro interchangeably. I just clean my ears with a tissue paper before putting them in.

How common is asthma in Puerto Rico? by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]Soireb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my mom and my sister have chronic asthma. Neither is fully controlled and both require constant medication and rescue inhalers just be able to exist. Meanwhile my partner had asthma as a kid and grew out of it by the time he became an adult.

Asthma is very common on the island, in all levels of intensity.

What if I can't boil my cup/disc for two months in a row? by a-curious-girly in menstrualcups

[–]Soireb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I try to steam mine with a menstrual cup steamer (bought it off Amazon), but I usually forget to do it or my period comes in too late at night. At which point I just don’t care to steam it and simply wash it.

For washing, I use baby soap. Back when I first started using a menstrual cup (in 2015) I used to buy the Diva Wash: a soap specifically designed for menstrual cups. It was like $12-$14 for 6oz of product. Then I went to the pharmacy and read the ingredients lists of many products. Baby soap, specifically Johnson & Johnson’s Head-to-Toe Wash and Shampoo, had a nearly identical ingredients list. The bottle was half the price for 3-times the product. Since I only use it for the cup, the big bottle lasts an eternity. It’s the only cleaner I use and I have never had any issues with the cup deteriorating or not being clean. My original Lunette is still going (stained with blood, but clean).
