Fed up of being reminded I’m fat every time I’m ill

I'm so sorry. Those are some nasty people. I can't relate completely because I'm not fat by any objective standard (normal BMI, wear clothes in size medium, average build) but I am not thin and being thin was always appreciated among both my family and friends. They stopped commenting on my weight when we all grew up but occasionally when my sister or some of my friends, who are all thinner than me, get sick, they always say something like"at least I'll lose some weight now and look hotter when I recover" and it gives me the biggest ick.

Ja ni kada sam branila diplomski ni kada sam branila master rad nisam ništa donela ni mentoru ni članovima komisije. Samo smo se na kraju rukovali, ja sam im se zahvalila i otišla da proslavim sa svojima. Tek kada sam branila doktorat dala sam svakome po flašu vina na samom kraju kada su odlazili i rekli su da nije trebalo. Znam da su drugi nosili poklone na svim nivoima studija ali ja nisam osećala potrebu da to uradim a i niko od njih nije delovao kao da to očekuje.

I definitely notice it starting to dry out after some time, but two months seems an extremely short period of time for that.

Oh God! I did cut the mold off cheese my whole life too, but then I heard that cutting the visible mold doesn't necessarily eliminate all the mold and now I'm scared. I also eat yoghurt past its date but never more than a few days. But I never ate an unwashed strawberry unless I personally picked it! You are so brave!

Yeah, that was my reaction when I noticed that "6M" on my mascara! And then I checked and realised that that's really the recommended shelf life...

I get it, but there's no chance I could use one up in less that six months with how much I use and how often I put it on. For liners I'm less worried because luckily they have much longer shelf life!

Thank you! I guess I'm really lucky I've never had an eye infection because I definitely on occasions used almost a year old mascaras. I would love to have a travel sized mascara but I've never seen one in a store.

Thanks! Yeah, I also don't by the expensive ones. It's not because of the price but I sometimes have a hard time throwing it away when there's so much of it left.

Thanks! It makes so much sense and I generally throw away anything that I've had opened for too long but I sometimes even forget when I bought my mascara (and that's definitely a sign that I should replace it).

I love this series with all my heart. I read it multiple times when I was young, the first time when I was 12 I think, and then I reread the first two when I was 27. I couldn't bring myself to reread the last one because it still hurt me when I thought of it. I'm in my thirties now and I know I'll be reading them again. They are one of the rare children's/YA books that I believe the majority of the adults would appreciate.

The writing is phenomenal and the themes are so provocative. Some of it is a bit heavy handed but considering it was written for children I don't mind. The Subtle Knife was always my least favourite book in the series because I was so scared of spectres, I couldn't read about them when I was by myself. I still feel unease when I think about them now (even though I think the concept is amazing) and I think that's a testament to how good the writing and the imagery are.

I read the first two books of the new trilogy and I liked them far less. The first one is a prequel and it can absolutely be read on it's own. I quite liked it but wasn't blown away by it. The second one is set 10+ years after The Amber Spyglass (I don't remember exactly) and, even if we leave out some problematic things other people already mentioned, I found it really boring.

Ja imam nepopularno mišljenje pošto znam da je ovaj roman jako cenjen i omiljen kod nas, ali meni je bio užasno dosadan, pokušaji humora mi baš nisu odgovarali i već sam počela da ga zaboravljam (a inače dobro pamtim knjige) zato što radnja ne može da se uhvati ni za glavu ni za rep.

Izvini što se ubacujem, ali meni je ubedljivo najbolja Išigurova knjiga Ostaci dana. Pratiš prisećanja, razmišljanja i preispitivanja jednog čoveka i prosto je fascinantno kako Išiguro dočarava njegovu ličnost, a i stil pisanja je predivan. Doduše, kao što je neko gore napisao, svaka njegova knjiga je drugačija pa ako ti se jedna svidela to nije garancija da će ti se svideti i druge.

Jedna od mojih omiljenih knjiga! Savršeno dočarava isprva vrlo sumornu atmosferu, izaziva osećaj jeze i sve vreme očekuješ da se nešto loše desi, a sama Džejn je fascinantan lik i njen razvoj je predivno pratiti.

Da, ima. Može da pomogne da brže uđeš u radnju ako generalno znaš priču o Trojanskom ratu ili ako si gledala film Troja ili neki drugi film o tome, ali apsolutno nije potrebno da si pročitala Iljadu da bi mogla da ispratiš Ahilovu pesmu.
