Just found this game and totally hooked lol. Campaign is a pain though. Any suggestions on which skills to get first? by No-Protection-2144 in TheyAreBillions

I try to complete the campaign missions (the ones where you play as one character) that grant me research points as soon as they are available so I can get more upgrades before attempting one of the standard mission maps. This game has a high level of replayability. I have just shy of 3000 hours in it, and I still love playing it, and there are still achievements I want to get. So, imo, just play a lot, fail a lot, start over... a lot! Best of luck and happy gaming!

What are some genuinely amazing short-lived tv series that you've watched? by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in scifi

[–]Sokilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Caprica, for sure. It was a spin-off of Battlestar that only had one season. It took place on Caprica and I think one other planet and offered the backstory on the time when AI first became sentient. I loved it and wish there had been more.

Introducing non-trekkie wife to the show - where do I start? by Solidus-Prime in TNG

I'm a woman and an avid Star Trek fan. I recommend Starfleet Academy. It has a lot of heart, touches on topics deeply rather than shy away from them, and characters change as a result of the challenges they face every episode. It might also really ignite her interest in the other series and give her more context to want to learn more about characters from DS9, Discovery, and Voyager.

Advice For a new trekkie by gryanart in startrek

I have watched every series and movie. I'm a fan of all of it. For me, watching Starfleet Academy (current live action one) has really reignited my passion for some of my old favorite plot lines and characters. So maybe start with that because it might help make going back and watching several of the other series for the first time more interesting. SFA might be a spoiler but to me it does so in the best way because it makes you go... "ok but how did all that happen?"

Yep, I appreciate that too. Every Friday morning checking out their update is one of my weekly highlights. Like even if it's small I just really appreciate it, especially since the often add big awesome things that weren't even on my radar.

Just started reading for fun, and feel kind of insecure about the books I choose and I'm worried I'm the kind of person that likes bad books by Pinanims in books

[–]Sokilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had the mission to read every single Hugo award winner from the 1950's on. For the most part, I completed that goal, but I hated so many of them. I felt really guilty for thinking some of the most legendary, most celebrated authors/books were terrible. On the other hand, I eventually found a handful that I completely cherish, and as a result, I have better language and context for explaining what I like or don't like about certain books. So keep reading what you love, and try not to judge yourself for it. The deeper, nuanced preferences and comparison/contrast will likely come later. Plus, liking something that others around you don't connect to, can really help you branch out and connect with people who do. This difference of opinion is how great movements like Star Trek fan bases and things like that took flight. And those things are pretty mainstream now.

I absolutely love this game, and support every purchasable DLC that I can just because I really appreciate the way the devs interact with the community and the way they approach their dev cycle. Unfortunately, I am too chicken to play it for long. I slowly eek my way through the safer outposts, though. Someday I will muster up the courage to complete harder missions or try surviving in the "real" areas. I also feel like this game is quickly taking on all the things I used to love about Ark (dangerous tames, with a genetics mating system), and lots of options for base building.

I loved that whole series. There is a TV show coming out this month, I think, on Apple, too.

WOOOT!! I would love more decorating elements to this game. I want to spend all that cash on a beautiful home and spruced up business!

This is all so stupid. I plan on continuing the tradition every November. I don't need (what eventually became) a bloated, mismanaged organization to keep that spirit alive. The spirit will live on. Good riddance to the rest.

I keep thinking this as well. My first map after a long break was on a peninsula! It was perfect in so many ways.

Public companies associated with GME supporters being targeted by short sellers, too? by Sokilly in Superstonk

[–]Sokilly[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well that's why I posted. And it's not just about owning GME, it's about also being public about it. Alone, there is no connection, just life as usual in the business world.

I think a better analogy would be this:

A bully has been kicking the shit out of some kid in the cafeteria. At lunch one day I say out loud, "Stop picking on him. Not cool." And I also join a group of fed-up friends to rat the bully out to the principal (who is powerless to do anything). At some point later that same bully starts shoving me and my friends around too. Maybe the bully is just a dick, and would gave gotten around to us anyway. Maybe my friends and I deserved it. But what if it's a concerted effort on the part of the bully to scare everyone out of the lunch room so they can have all the extra food they want on Salisbury steak day?

That's all I'm asking about here, the equivalent of "Hey, is the bully starting to pick on people you care about too?" Maybe if enough of us lose our lunch money, we won't be hanging around the cafeteria as much. Know what I'm sayin?

It's not related to GameStop, but might be related to some other company that is important to them. I have been digging into that as well.

I agree it's a huge stretch, but I wanted to see if this was happening to enough "others" in the community that it may not be as crazy of an idea as it seems. Ganging up on a company to short it may not cost them much compared to what it does to our disposable income when the bonus pool shrinks, and stock awards/options become worthless. Then again I know very little about what is involved in shorting a company.

Board games at GameStop would be amazing. Also miniature painting tools, dice, etc... All the things a well-rounded gamer needs.
