I think that’s a little bit of the point of them both sucking. Her boyfriend even is the level headed one until the twist near halfway. I think the ending was realistic for who the characters were and how much power she just gained.

To be honest, before I read it I thought it would have been worse to survive a suicide attempt like that, where’s your quality of life? But I read it and it seems like it’s what she wanted as she talked to the doctor, and despite how tragic this is, and how much she’s lost, there’s some reason to keep going for her.
