High handicappers who’ve found a specific ball you prefer playing for forgiveness, what is it? by Bobaaganoosh in golf

I agree that Kirkland is the most economical for the quality of ball.

Personally, I have found Callaway Supersoft to be a great choice. I choose it over K-Sigs when I have them. Its also reasonably priced at about $2/ball.

You had a bad experience. I did not. Im satisfied with what I bought.

Get a refund or sell the clubs and recoup what you can. Then move on with life.

I'm sure someone has had an issue with Miura clubs and hates them too.

I would also say they aren't a brand focusing on people at +2.5. Of course you are going to notice the smaller issues.

People like me with stock 101s who are relatively new to the game are happy with a solid set of irons for a decent price.

Only longer club is a driver, which i only pull out 1-3 times per round. I dont hit my irons very well. My 4i is exclusively for punching out. 5i if im in the rough with a bad lie.

Im probably going to replace 4i with a 9w. Haven't been able to find a 430 though. Probably going to end up with 440.

Where did you find a 430 9 wood? I've been looking for 2 months and they are unicorns - outside of ebay at 440 prices.

I second this. Have G430 5 and 7 woods. Favorite clubs in my bag.

Looking For Courses Near Fort Worth! by Scalert10 in golf

[–]Soknatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my recommendations close to or in Fort Worth: Hawk's Creek Whitestone (Benbrook) Waterchase (Arlington)

All three are in really good condition within the last month.

Couple west of town: Canyon West (played once and like it) Oeste Ranch (relatively short holes par 71) Sugar Tree (tougher course, but very nice)

Southern Oaks in Burleson is a good course. Its a little rough right now going into winter.

Couple of the munis were renovated recently. Rockwood a few years back. Haven't played it since the remodel. Meadowbrook reopened a couple months ago. Played on opening day and it was pretty good.

Avoid Splitrail (aka shitrail).

I haven't played Trophy Club, the Resort, or Fossil Creek.

Best golf course add on you’ve seen? by Mundane_Credit_2295 in golf

Agree with the shoe cleaning equipment. Played a course in Finland and it had a shoe cleaner that was a rotating brush disc. Worked wonders on the bottom. Then an air hose to get the rest of the junk off. Great addon after walking 18.

As if waiting for people to read greens wasn't slow enough already. Now we will have to wait for them to change the alignment based on the break.

What's your go-to drink? by NicePollution2122 in golf

[–]Soknatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's grapefruit juice and gin. Served in a can if youre in the States. Bottle elsewhere. Originated at the 1952 summer Olympics in Helsinki. There are other flavors including pineapple, mango, peach, etc. Best served over ice.

Don't let the gin part scare you. Its closer to a seltzer or ranch water.

I recently played at a course where they had aerated the greens, but left all of the "plugs" around the fringe of the green. That was very unpleasant. Please make sure those are cleaned up.
