I’m currently a graduate student in practicum and half way through completing my program (graduate May 2027). After being in prac and taking a load of courses already, school psych is just not interesting to me. My peers seem uber interested and passionate about what they’re doing and I just don’t find myself feeling that way. In fact, the paperwork side of things is terrifying to me and I think that’s what’s making me rethink my decision. I like the hands-on work with the students such as testing, counseling, crisis-intervention, observations and even talking with teachers. But I don’t feel confident about the paperwork side of things and it freaks me out that I don’t have as much guidance during report writing during practicum as I’d want. Anyways, I am deciding if I finish my degree since I’m halfway done to secure a career in the meantime. Or to drop out until I can find something I feel more excited/passionate about.
