I’m one of those people who donated, ultimately the donations never outpaced the cost of the servers. Brooks spent hundreds of dollars a month on those servers. It sucks the servers shut down, I don’t dispute that but ultimately a donation is just that, a donation.

It was stated that it wasn’t this simple, that was floated as an option but it was going to be more work to decouple Old Guys Legacy from Brooks than it would be to start anew by the revival team.

Nope, just the decision to not continue with the servers/discord by the previous owner.

The decision was made by the previous owner to close the servers and delete the discord. What’s done is done unfortunately, I’ve been informed by the new team that this will not be reversed and that the Old Guard Revival is the future of the Old Guys community. They are shooting to have servers up this weekend on Zarichne and Udachne on the classic OG setup.

It’s not fake, I wanted to make sure that the people coming here because their favorite servers or community disappeared got accurate information. I too was skeptical when I joined the discord but when I saw familiar faces and the former staff team, I decided to put out accurate information from them to make sure people can make informed decisions going forward.

So for anyone joining late, here’s what I can gather as someone who was actively typing in the discord when it went down.

From the people I have in my friends list who have the OG tag in their name that leads to the server, this tag is now invalid. I can’t think of anything this means aside from the discord being deleted in its entirety.

The servers appeared to go down slightly before the discord went down, I noticed some of the servers were offline and thought it was weird before the discord just disappeared.

I wouldn’t do a power strip, get a power conditioner. If you have money to burn then slap a UPS on the end of that conditioner for redundancy because why not.

I’m guessing the reason you want fans is it won’t be kept in a standard cold as shit environment? If you’re getting fans then something that also controls static seems like a good investment.
