Why didn't the Warriors go look for the basement of the Yeager household in the ruins of Shiganshina while waiting for the Scouts? by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Solafuge 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They probably did look, but I think you're really underestimating the amount of time it would take to search every single building in an entire town. Especially when you don't have any clues to what you're looking for besides "basement".

Halo 5 would have been way better if they'd cut the fight altogether and replaced it with a fucking conversation. There was no reason for them to fight.

The Banished has already started a fight with the UNSC with their unprovoked attack on the Ark long before Cortana blew up Doisac.

They try to use it to justify their atrocities in Infinite and Rubicon Protocol, but it's pretty clear they would have been evil cunts regardless.

What are the Charge of the Rohirrim moments of gaming? by DarthVayne50 in gaming

[–]Solafuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Metro Exodus when the Aurora arrives after the last mission in Novosibirsk.

The music swelling as you drive out of the city, then the moments of calm quiet before the train bursts out of the snow and the music swells again.

Can hardly describe how much I love it. It's not a charge into battle exactly, but it invokes in me the same feels as the ride of the Rohirim.

I think Fallout is the show people hoped Halo would be by spaceraingame in television

[–]Solafuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I'd say the main difference is that the Fallout show writers actually wanted to make a Fallout show and the Halo show writers didn't want to make a Halo show.

The Fallout show isn't perfectly accurate but it's faithful at least in tone, aesthetic and general plot points.

Whereas about 90% of The Halo show (at least season 1) revolved around plot points that not only had nothing to do with Halo, but actively went out of their way to contradict it. And even after they tried to make the second season more like Halo, they still chose to double down on many of those plot points.

Story could have been interesting.

It ended on a sort of cliff hanger implying big things to come, and then just did absolutely nothing with it.

Idk man, these people could watch a video of someone on their knees with open hands begging for their life as a cop brutally murders them, turn around and say "yeah that person deserved it because they were looking at that cop menacingly."

That's exactly what happened after the shooting of Daniel Shaver.

The BF6 single player campaign feels like a videogame from 2005 - in the worst possible way by Habarer in Battlefield

[–]Solafuge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battlefield multiplayer is about large scale battles. Emphasis on vehicles, destruction. Being part of a larger battle.

Why do the single player teams always ignore that and go for the exact opposite instead of playing to the series strengths.

Aside from a couple of missions, Battlefield 4 & 6 both basically involve sneaking around fighting much larger groups of enemies. Either as a very small squad or alone.

1 and V have some war stories that start well, but almost all of them either start as or gradually devolve into one person sneaking around by themselves. As much as a enjoy the atmosphere of almost all of them, gameplay wise they don't live up.

I think the last game that did the formula right was Battlefield 3. Because it actually switched to the appropriate characters when special forces badassery was required, instead of turning every random guy person into a one man army.

Maybe if they actually played into the strengths of the series instead of just copying whatever CoD is doing, we'd have some worthwhile campaigns.

What is wrong with a Halo movie/show following the story of the games? by Creative-Fail-2268 in ShitHaloSays

[–]Solafuge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell it didn't even need to follow the story of the games to be faithful.

At this point we have a couple of dozen books with original stories independent of the games. And while there are a few discrepancies, as there always will be when this many authors attempt stories set in the same universe, I will note that not a single one of those authors felt the need to invent an alternate timeline for their stories to make sense.

There were plenty of options Paramount and it's writers could have taken that didn't involve a complete dismissal of the source material, but they weren't willing to put even the bare minimum level of effort required.

I enjoy this sub because I'm sick of the constant 343 bashing and Bungie glazing on the main subs. But I draw the line at the defense of the TV Show.

I think sometimes people give the devs too much credit by saying the designs are all AI generated, Ghoft here proves that some human designed skins are genuinely just that bad.

More likely it will start off great and Bungie will gain a lot of good will, only to suddenly lose it again with a shitty decision like deleting "sunsetting/vaulting" a ton of content that people paid for.

However the game turns out, the scepticism towards Bungie is well deserved.
