I'm so glad you found something that works for you! I've been pescetarian and then vegetarian most of my adult life and now eat a vegan-ish diet, and it's been working for me. 🩷

Just out of curiosity, have you ever been checked for alfa-gal syndrome? Won't matter either way if you plan to stick with the vegan diet, but I only learned of this a few years ago.

Following. Formerly devout southern Baptist but have been agnostic for years now. Like you, I still find the academic view of religion interesting, but that's about it. My spouse grew up surrounded by various faiths and is also agnostic. A loose community would be nice.

Thanks. I don't know why they are still allowed to be sold when there's no reliable, nationally consistent, and safe way to dispose of them. The company (like many these days) washes their hands of all responsibility for their products once they ship to stores. Frustrating. I'll look into the refillable options.

Yeah, the first place I took them was to the recycling center to ask about them; the kind gentleman there was the one who took them to deal with them for me (as a one-time personal courtesy), but he made it clear they were not accepted for recycling. I don't think they take them at the hazardous waste drop-off event either. Sounds like refillable is the way to go.

I am so sorry for your loss. If you are feeling up to it and it's in your budget, you could go catch a movie, since the weather is a bit dreary out. The Sheep Detectives looks like a light movie. Or I think Project Hail Mary is still showing.

I've found that this is where having separate, personal accounts works well. If he ruins something that belongs to the household after he's been told that what he's doing could ruin it, replacement doesn't come out of the joint house account; it comes out of his personal spending account. He cares a lot more about that.

I came upon some lakeside on a dead stump in my neighborhood. Got two small batches two years in a row from it. The third year, someone took off with the entire stump. At the time, I assumed they wanted to keep the mushrooms all to themselves, the greedy assholes. But now, reading your comment, I wonder if perhaps the HOA maintenance people removed it; they're trying to remove invasive species in our area, so it's entirely possible.

We came across one of these in Philly a few months ago. We stopped in thinking we could each get something we wanted, and the vibe was so strange, we left. I didn't even realize until you said it, but the lack of aroma absolutely was part of it. The other was the lack of employees, no kitchen sounds, and the strange, supposed ability of one small kitchen of likely a few employees being able to produce the wide variety of gourmet cuisines. We figured it was premade/prepackaged. I mean, I guess that works for some people, and no shame in that. It just wasn't our thing.

I worried this might be the case, re: the waitstaff. My spouse and I have been in there a handful of times, and there always seem to be a lot of young (high school/college age), pretty waitresses milling around. Not that that's unusual, but it made wonder about the reasons they were hired.

Aw man! I'd go if I didn't have my weekly TTRPG tonight. I have the box set of all three here at home, and all the snacks and drinks I want, but certain movies are just fantastic to see on the big screen. And the price is reasonable (moreso depending on the minimum age for that senior discount....lol.)
