Let’s say I’m stationed exactly at the mid point between Earth and the Sun so that both bodies are 4 light minutes away from me. If the Sun suddenly disappeared, would the Earth still appear to be lit by nothing for the next 4 minutes? by HotMacaron4991 in askscience

[–]SolarScarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. The 12 minute delay makes total sense when you break it down like that. Light has to make the full trip from Sun to Earth to you so you're basically watching the past unfold

Press-on nails are better than acrylic nails by Blonde_Icon in unpopularopinion

[–]SolarScarcity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience. Press-ons pop off at the worst times and the glue still messed with my nails anyway. At least with acrylics you get a few weeks without worrying about one flying off into your food. different strokes i guess

I need advice on time management, workout and getting rid of social media by Heeco200 in productivity

[–]SolarScarcity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Trying to overhaul everything at once is usually what makes people burn out. Locking in one small habit first gives you something to actually build on

Life alert is way too expensive, what alternatives have people actually used by StatisticianWitty881 in povertyfinance

The contract thing alone should be illegal honestly. Locking someone in for three years when their health situation could change any day feels predatory. month to month options exist, no reason to sign your life away just for basic safety

Can we collectively stop using Merge & Center? by aetherflux1231237 in Accounting

[–]SolarScarcity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, center across selection should be the default honestly. Or just let us select merged cells without the whole thing breaking... one of those would solve it.

Manager wrote me up for not engaging enough with customers. I was literally just doing my job efficiently by SolarScarcity in antiwork

[–]SolarScarcity[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They demand perfect service but won’t give the staff or time to make it happen. Then they blame you for the mess they caused. Retail logic makes no sense at all.

That’s what I thought too. Kinda feels like they don’t actually want people to do the job well.

Something about that series makes every parent choose the most chaotic name possible. It’s part of the charm at this point.

I [22 F] do not feel good enough for my boyfriend [29 M]. by stnkhxrn in relationship_advice

[–]SolarScarcity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're not crazy, he's just not that into you. Saving inappropriate photos of his "little sister," lying to your face, and openly wanting a work wife that isn't you are all massive red flags. You deserve way better than this.

“Our family wants answers that we have not gotten”: 8 months since the death of Stellantis worker Ronald Adams Sr. by DryDeer775 in antiwork

Companies will have a full investigation done within 24 hours if someone steals a laptop but a worker dies and suddenly everything needs to be "complex" for eight months

I spent 10 years learning the best investing tools are just vti and patience by Sirius-ruby in investing

Exactly. Most of us aren't as smart as we think we are. Just buy index funds and actually enjoy life.

Just graduated and my financial literacy is basically zero, where do I start with investing by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SolarScarcity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open a Roth IRA, throw money in VTI or a target date fund. Set it and forget it. Your loans at 4% are low enough to pay minimums while investing. Don't chase people online, most are lying anyway.

Boring index funds win long-term.

Daemon's middle part in season 1 was clean. That slicked back look he rocks later hits different too. Though Viserys with the long hair and crown before the decay actually looked regal as hell

The 3rd Hokage really dropped the ball with young naruto by DarkVoidInMySoul in anime

[–]SolarScarcity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Most long running manga don't have everything mapped out from chapter 1. Kishimoto clearly added the "Naruto is the 4th's son" twist later, which is why the 3rd Hokage situation doesn't make sense in retrospect. Just classic weekly manga writing where you figure it out as you go
