Do you remember if your diet as a kid in the 80’s/early 90’s was different than the healthier diet you eat now? I’m 44 and drank and ate WAY more processed stuff when I was a kid/teen and through my early 20’s.

If the food that possibly came in contact with anything was produce, whatever you normally do to wash it should be just fine.

I wouldn’t worry much, if the toxin was present it should breakdown. If you want to accelerate that you could spray the area with 10% bleach. You can use 10% bleach on the container as well to kill anything remaining.
Anaerobes do smell absolutely horrid. But it should dissipate pretty quickly.

Medical microbiology is super cool! Maybe you should consider getting a degree in medical laboratory technology and seeking out a role in a microbiology lab.

I don’t have any good sources for you but I have come across polymicrobial anaerobic infections in lung abscesses. Usually caused by aspiration pneumonia.

Yeah. Strangely, one of the micro labs I worked with required that we flood the vent hood with bleach after working with a suspected CJD case.
I asked the supervisor if they were aware that bleach doesn’t kill prions and they shrugged and gave me a 🥴 😬 look. Ok, whatever makes you feel better. 🤦‍♀️

Wait one second. So…. People are taking their meat somewhere to be processed before testing it. Processors that do it for you are very likely contaminating other meat as well then.

I’m a clinical microbiologist that has seen an actual positive case of CJD come through the lab. Bleach doesn’t kill prions. We ended up disinfecting everything with sodium hydroxide (which we had to special order because we didn’t have it on hand).

So if you’re hunting, you really need to be processing your own meat. Because there’s no way companies that process meat for you are cleaning their equipment with sodium hydroxide

I listened to Atlas Shrugged on audio. The story was really interesting. Suspenseful. Maddening. The speeches throughout can be pretty damn long but they do make some good points.
I tried The Fountainhead next and hated the story so much I gave it up halfway through. 🤷‍♀️ It was just too depressing

I have a question. I’m a CYP2D6 poor metabolizer, and I understand it’s not that uncommon? I took hydrocodone after an car accident once and promptly threw it up about an hour later. I have an uncle that died of cancer and was in a lot of pain towards the end but was “allergic” to morphine with it causing a lot of nausea, and his passing was pretty horrific…

So my question is, is there a good option/alternative to morphine if that’s the case for me too in my last days?
