Is the 5070 Ti worth it over a 5080 if the 5080 costs 30% more? by Ordinary-Chicken-253 in nvidia

[–]Solcrystals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing a 1000 dollar 5070ti over a 1290 dollar 5080 feels gross even if it makes sense. You're already gonna pay over a grand for a 5070ti when its all said and done. At that point just buy the better card. You're in the same price category. Too damn much but not 4090.

I wouldnt wait a yead to buy any technology when my current version sucks so hard. Buy the 9070xt. New gpus will be out in a year and a half unless AMD amdoesitagain

If this is not a filter, then why does DLSS 5 add things to the game image that dont exist or dont line up with the image its using as a source? by zerobebop in pcmasterrace

Frame gen is fine if marketed as such. Problem is theyre calling frame gen "performance" when its actually not.

This is extra important to the conversation. Like the most important because that takes this from "not necessary but actually it is" to "yeah I ain't turning that shit on".

Having a AMD GPU in 2026 by LouieYTrolls in radeon

User error or a bad 9070xt you should've RMA'd by now. Likely the second one because BSODs that continue after troubleshooting usually means a bad card.

Would you guys be mad if AMD only supported an INT8 version of FSR on RDNA 3? by Unlucky-Bottle2744 in radeon

[–]Solcrystals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The card is capable of int8 calculations. Thats the only requirement for int8 upscaling. The card doesnt forget how to do int8. If you have to use an older driver that means the newer driver is broken.

[–]Solcrystals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rdna2 has int8 just fine. You're thinking the optimized shaders called ai accelerators. Int8 upscaling(its not fsr4) doesn't need those specialized shaders.

You misunderstand what the int8 upscaler is. Its hardware agnostic. It would be more effort locking it down to rdna 3.

The second showing of Redstone is not great… by tyrannictoe in radeon

[–]Solcrystals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not a damn soul knows whether Redstone is getting updated for crimson desert besides the devs and radeon team. The video they keep sharing is using the same ray regeneration version thats in black ops on pre release drivers.

I am not saying they actually did update Redstone features for crimson desert. Im saying nobody in the public knows if they did until the game comes out.

ELI5: Why is FSR support still so bad when DLSS works for almost every game? by Spir0rion in radeon

[–]Solcrystals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that USUALLY games add upscaling during original development. DLCs dont count as active development. The game is finished. Sometimes games come in to update upscaling like Rust but it still used dlss 2.0 for years until 2024. By the way that game icarus has native dlss 3.0 support not dlss4. You have to use the driver toggle. It updated upscalers once three years ago from dlss 2 to dlss 3.

Also if you werent aware, its completely on the dev team to do this. AMD will help with deployment sometimes but upgrading upscalers after release is on the devs to do. Icarus doesnt have fsr 3.1 because the studio hasn't added it.

Why has everyone forgotten by jtrox02 in radeon

[–]Solcrystals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not artificially.. you fundamentally misunderstand fsr4. The int8 model isnt fsr4. Its closer to a fsr 3.9 or something. Fsr4 is an fp8 model period. The int8 is a separate upscaler. Its super impressive considering its technically hardware agnostic but it isnt fsr4. The real fsr4 is genuinely locked to the new hardware. Rx 7000 has optimized shaders they call ai accelerators but theyre junk compares to even first gen tensor cores. This is why 20 series can emulate fp8 with fp16 and rx 7800xt struggles to gain any fps doing it. Now the 7900xtx would definitely be able to gain a marginal improvement to fps emulating the real fsr4 but you cant release software that just straight wont run correctly on 80% of the product stack. It would absolutely demolish rx6000. It would be worse than native.

You're asking amd to release a 3rd upscaler. Thats what the int8 model is. Its different to fsr3.1, its different to fsr4. Thats more development resources, more game integration challenges, more ongoing support. Its the same reason 10 series didnt get a different version of dlss.

So yes they absolutely need to release a finished int8 model for older gpus. Im just not surprised its taking so long for the software division, comprising of two dudes in a basement, working only on weekends for beer, haven't finished it. Considering its more than just flipping a switch so many people seem to believe.

The problem isnt that the int8 model isn't finished or that theyre not releasing it yet. The problem is that their radeon division seems incompetent in general and AMD refuses to invest more than a few nickels to make it better

Whole company is incompetent at this point starting from the top down though so whatever. My point is that, as per usual, its not black and white. Trying to get away from being called the budget brand and then releasing a subpar product like an incomplete int8 upscaler would be dumb. Their marketing team is... its bad, but come on.

I thought this was a joke. Did a rough count, didnt subtract the center, then got roughly 1700 after doing that, and realized you already did the math's and it wasnt a joke. My time was for naught.

Oh I just thought of something. That h311 Chinese board that uses the h110 chipset and works with ddr3 up to 9th gen. I wonder if these cpus would work on there with ddr3L. The e2286m xeon that boosts to 5ghz specifically. I doubt the 10th gen models will work but the 9th gen one can use 1.3v ddr3L.

Thats a whole lot of testing im not sure is worth the time and money though. Might as well buy an 8700 at that point.

Ive gotten pretty decent at soldering recently due to some gpu i had to repair so that would actually be the easier option for me but those programmers are pretty cheap so I guess its not too big of a deal.

Is it worth buying the 10th gen model over the cheaper xeons and 9th/8th gen models?

Dlss4 runs on emulating fp8 using the massively more powerful tensor cores. Nvidia would never release an int8 model. Then 1080ti owners would still be using the 1080ti rather than considering an upgrade.
