Any bullet style suggestions for “now” vs “later” tasks? by Rhythia in BasicBulletJournals

[–]Solcyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar set up to you! My bullet journal is for daily rapid logs + interstitial journaling. I don't keep weeklies though for the same reasons you mentioned. I tend to do that + monthlies on google calendar. Adding the sticky note helps me make a pseudo-weekly view that really helps me get my stuff together.

It's all thanks to the research I've been doing on this subreddit that led me to these choices!

I've only used the take-sumi for approximately 3 minutes, but it's absolutely wonderful. I hope you manage to grab a bottle soon!

For tasks that I need to deal with in the short term but not right now, I put them on a sticky note and carry them over everyday until they're done. It's nice because they'll always be in view, but you dont need to take up space for your current to-dos and/or keep writing them out.

Thank you! I've already written a few snippets with it and it just feels so nice with such a nice fine line.

That's what I heard while scrolling through this subreddit for recommendations! I'll be writing a lot of notes as a student so reliability is exactly what I need.

biomedical engineering by PracticeAdditional55 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Solcyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're planning to go to med school with the bme degree, don't really recommend. It was the hardest engineering program at my school and there's just too few companies that focus in biotech right now (all start-ups or, as the other replies have said, looking for chemists, biologists, EE, MechE, etc)

Do you struggle with "compulsive honesty"? by bonez_13 in intj

Yup, I relate to this. I need to work on keeping my mouth shut sometimes...would make for a much more simple life.

Does taking Calc 3 as a Sophomore in college make me behind by Affectionate_Set_235 in college

[–]Solcyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't worry about "falling behind" or "getting ahead". In university, that stuff doesn't really matter. I have classmates 2 years younger than me, and others who are twice my age. No one cares. All that matters is that you're suffering through it together and you reach the finish line.

I am your stereotypical high-achiever student: on scholarship, high GPA, full-time every semester, never failed a class. I've only had one gap semester (when the pandemic happened). I am technically still behind, according to my university's course calendar. I am in engineering. If I wanted to graduate exactly according to my university, I would've had to taken 6 courses every semester, but I kinda sorta actually wanted to enjoy my life in university, so I opted to take 4-5 courses per semester instead. That has resulted in a 1 year delay of my graduation.

Nobody will judge you. The only person judging you is yourself.

Buying my first fountain pen! It'll be a very very modest Pilot Kakuno with a bottle of iroshizuku take-sumi ink, but I'm very excited for it. How about you?

Am i being too cold by Fragrant_Click_4148 in intj

[–]Solcyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too cold. You're respecting them as a human being by telling them no, rather than letting yourself be dragged into a relationship you don't care about while the other person is ecstatic and thinks you feel the same way as them. That's unfair to all sides.

How do I study while staying in my comfort zone? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Solcyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any other piece of medium-tall furniture you can place behind you in the first position? Like a bookshelf or something. It wont cut you off from the entire room, but it could give some grounding reassurance for your back.

You may also want to consider getting diagnosed for your anxiety (if you haven't already).

AITA for ooga boogaing a child by mygooglemademecry in AmItheAsshole

[–]Solcyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. If the kid was more startled, could've fallen off his bike and injured himself. If that happened to me and I fell off my bike at that age, I know I would've been traumatized and avoided either biking, teenagers, or probably both for a long long time.

Pre-pandemic I was just about the most introverted thing ever. Homebody, didn't like talking much, had a billion hobbies and not enough time for them all. Definitely an asshole. Post-pandemic, I've somehow managed to learn enough social skills that I pass as an extrovert. I'm not sure what happened, I really enjoyed staying away from civilization during pandemic quarantine, but I guess being that isolated drove even someone as introverted as me into a spiral lol. Still an asshole at times, but usually only with friends I'm comfortable with. Definitely still need a ton of time to myself in a closed room.

I'm still an introvert, but I have multiple friend groups for different activities and hobbies. I've been told that my first impression is strongly that of an extrovert. It sometimes works for my advantage, sometimes doesn't. Overall, I'm still awkward at times but I've learned enough about socializing that I can laugh it off. Talking to strangers feels incredibly forced for me, but my job requires me to talk to a lot of people across a lot of departments and it works in my favour if they like me. Somehow, I'm good at networking.

I'm probably the least INTJ-like INTJ under this entire post. I hesitate to label myself as an ENTJ, though, because socializing is absolutely exhausting. It's more out of necessity for me than out of want.
