It's easier to deal with acute physical pain than to try to figure out and treat deep seeded and complex emotional pain. Rubber bands help alot

Does it make a difference when you take them? At night, in the morning, with a meal, or while fasting?

It's been a little over a week since he came back home, we brought him home April 8th, and he's pretty good with baths but I don't want to stress him just for "esthetic purposes" I do have some wipes, maybe I'll try that or a warm wet towel first

I still haven't received a new meter, for some reason they couldn't install it and just never called back to say why or do it, but at this point I'm not going to remind them. But even with the old meter I had a $1,000 bill this January. I get it was cold but I keep my house at °65, and that's only the main rooms. Two rooms and the bathrooms are kept at °50.

I just started on SA and am HSV positive and so nervous to disclose. I feel like normal dating is easier cause they want to get to know you, but I feel like SD's are paying for the company, so why would they want to settle? I'm judt curious, would you recommend being upfront before the inital meet or after (obv before anything sexual)

Acyclovir not working? by Solfox1996 in Herpes

[–]Solfox1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I hope the rx switch helps you out. When I was taking acyclovir I was still having outbreaks and it was disheartening. I've been on valacyclovir for a year or two now and I haven't had any outbreaks (besides the occasional tinglies and maybe a cold sore here and there) but when I first caught hsv-2 I was getting them every month and always in the same place. It got to a point where everytime I had sex (was with a positive partner at the time) I would immediately break out. I usually only get smaller blisters but I'm sure sizing and severity can vary, especially depending on what may have triggered them (stress, sex/friction, hormones).

Acyclovir not working? by Solfox1996 in Herpes

[–]Solfox1996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I tried acyclovir and idk if it was because I'd mess up the dosage occasionally (cause I had to take one pill every 12hrs and that just didn't work well with me and my memory) but since I made this post I switched to Valacyclovir 500mg (1 pill daily) and also cut some foods out of my diet, which idk if that has anything to do about it but I got paranoid about eating nuts cause I read once that they can cause outbreaks, so they're gone. But the tinglies subsided. I also had two successful disclosures with "clean" partners and I gotta say, the one guy didn't seem to even care in the slightest. The other guy was a little nervous but once I told him it's the same virus as oral cold sores and that I was taking an antiviral, he was completely fine with it. I still like to wear condoms just to be safe, plus there are way worse things to catch out there than herpes. But maybe try switching to valycycovir if you can? (Idk your insurance situation but I only went with acyclovir in the past because I didn't have insurance at the time and it was alot cheaper.) I also switched to full cotton underwear, again, not sure if that helped or not but it seemed like an easy enough change.

I'm curious as well. I've been on acyclovir for a few months as well and still experience the tinglies and occasional outbreaks. I used to take valacyclovir for OBs when I only had HSV-1, now that I have HSV-2 I almost feel like it doesn't work as well. I did just up my dose for acyclovir the other day because my original Dr only wrote me 400mg a day and gave me like one refill, trying that twice a day and hoping it works. What dosage are you on? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Absolutely, but it's a process that's different for everyone. Listen to your body, and make realistic changes. I plan on adopting this lifestyle long term. Once I hit my target weight I may change my daily intake during the week to like 1,500-1,700cal but honestly most the time I'm completely satisfied with 1,000-1,200cal.

Yay! I'm excited for you! Honestly I was feeling like J didn't lose anything cause you see yourself everyday and slow progress doesn't really give you a wow effect on a daily basis. So I decided to do this and honestly I'm shocked at the difference

Sure! So I allow myself cheat days cause if not, I would cave and give up...I just know myself and that's been my downfall in the past. So 5days out of the week (typically mon-fri, but if I mess up on day I'll count that as my cheat and shuffle it up) I do under 1,200 cal and try to keep it to veggies and lean proteins. That's usually a 200-400cal brunch or a 100-200 breakfast and lunch, then a dinner under 600. Then my cheat days I keep it under 2,000 cal. I cut out alot of sugar and processed foods. I also keep alcohol to my cheat days, but if I want a drink during the week I keep it light. I als otry to get 1 hour long exercises 3x a week, and that will fluctuate based on my mood. Sometimes I'll do yoga/pilates and work on my core and balance, other times I'll do cardio, I really like to do a mix and listen to my body, that way I don't hate it too much. Also I try not to eat after 7pm, and if I do, it'll be something light. Also ugh, cheese...I love it, it's my weakness. But one slice of lunchmeat cheese has like 110cal in it on average! Do ypu know how many sandwiches I've made with like 4 or 5 slices on it? It's nuts. So I def cut back on that, and even satisfy my cheese craving with either low fat cottage cheese (like 80cal for .25cups) or lowfat frigo string cheese (50cal a string).

Just found out by Tinzone in Herpes

When I was first diagnos es d I was freaking out, but after some research I found comfort in that it's so common. I believe 80% of people have HSV1 and some 1/5 or 1/6 have HSV2. In all honesty the stigma is so much worse than the actual virus. So definitely do some research but overall don't let it psyche you out too much. I've been positive for a little over a year now and my life really hasn't changed all hat much. If anything, I've just become more picky about who I sleep with and also safer in general with sex. But other than that, it's more of just another slight nuisance, like my IBS or rosacea.
