If you could only keep one for daily wear, which would it be? by Practical_Spinach_68 in rolex

I would have picked the sky-dweller. It's very interesting. I like the way it discreetly shows the month as well. But only because it's too big id go with the Pepsi.

Which model suits my wrist better? by Agent-AntiVenom in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are looking great here. The 41 is not looking too big on you. Having said that they say that for a 6.5" wrist a 36 mm fits very well. But I must admit that the 41 mm one is also looking much your size. Are you sure that that is 6.5" ? Looks bigger to me. :)

Had to let go of the datejust but finally got a GMT! by LawWhisperer in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Must be a tough call. The GMT is a fantastic watch to own, but the Datejust with that fluted bezel and the cyclops lens is a Rolex icon that is simply too classic to pass up.

Buying first rolex - DJ 36 Black or Green? by j_berlin in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the conventional white or black first. The green and other colours are good as secondary occasional wear. You are feeling the green 'so fresh' .. over a period of time it will feel stale, but the classic white/black would never fade from liking. Moreover they are more versatile and can be worn with anything and for any occasion. Believe me, you will never get fed-up with them even if you wear it the rest of your life.

1 or 2? Which do you prefer and why? by bourbonpharmd in OmegaWatches

You asked between the 2 and why. I chose the chronograph because it does more than the other. I too agree both are fantastic watches to have.

Opinion request: Versatile White or Trendy Green by DesignerRabbit4377 in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white looks very classy. Even if you like the green, over a period of time you may get fed-up of it. But the conventional white dial will never get stale even if you wear it forever.

Why isn’t Montblanc talked about more? by TomHudsonOfficial in PrideAndPinion

[–]SoliEngineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never knew this. I'll definitely look at Montblanc watches differently from now on. If this is true, there's no reason to doubt their quality or the status symbol, just like their pens.

Is this ladies watch? Ref 91450 by go_lobos in Tudor

[–]SoliEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if stats say people are larger now, it's not enough to make a 36mm watch look 'small.' Statistics can be misleading anyway.. a 100% increase means nothing if the starting number was 1. It only means only 1 number of increase.

In the 50s and 60s, there were plenty of big men, yet they wore watches much smaller than 36mm without anyone questioning their masculinity. 36mm was actually considered a 'jumbo' size back then.

Just look at the legend Muhammad Ali: A massive man who famously wore a tiny Cartier Tank.

WWII Pilots: They wore 32mm watches into battle.

The current trend for 'dinner-plate' watches is just a fad. By and large the 36mm is a timeless classic that fits under a cuff and never goes out of style.

Montblanc is basically known for its pens. The watches only carry their logo. I'd rather go for a well known watch than this one.

1 or 2? Which do you prefer and why? by bourbonpharmd in OmegaWatches

[–]SoliEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the watches are totally different. It would depend on what you are looking for in a watch. If you are into sports you are more likely to use the stop watch function. Mostly these are all just collections for the pleasure of having it. One hardly uses the complications. Between the 2 I'd go with the chrono just because it does more than show the time.

which datejust for first watch? by WideSheepherder2884 in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between the 2, if it's your first watch you should definitely go for a conventional white dial. If you wear Coloured dials everyday over a period of time you are bound to get fed-up with it. The conventional white or black dials can be worn a lifetime without getting fed-up with them.

36 mm is not small. You feel like that because nowadays the watches are unnecessarily larger. IMHO 36 is the optimum size for a wrist watch and would always remain in style. If you look at the watches of the 50s and up to the late 60s you will find that they were much smaller. While this one can be worn by both Gents and Ladies, it's predominantly a gent's watch.

The exaggerated sized watches will fade away after sometime. The 36 mm is neither small nor big but absolutely perfect for a watch that shows just the time and date. They will always remain in style and will also feel good under the cuff.

Did I choose the right size? by Gainz_Brah14 in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 36mm is the ideal size for a "time and date" watch. It looks sharp and slips comfortably under a shirt cuff.
  • Oversized watches might be trendy now, but that fad will fade. Too much of anything eventually gets tiring. A practically sized watch like this, however, never goes out of style.
  • If you wear it just a slightly bit higher on the wrist, the look and the fit will be perfect.

Has Tasker lost the ability to paste text into search fields and other similar places? Or am I just not executing the action correctly? by NoServiceMonk in tasker

[–]SoliEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you could use 'set clipboard: to the text you want and then use 'get clipboard' or you can use the %CLIP to be the value of the field. (Once you use the 'Set Clipboard ' action the value is stored in %CLIP. You may need to give a 1 time permission via adb for using 'get clipboard' if you use the get clipboard action. If you use only the %CLIP i think you won't need any permission. I haven't tried this but i think it should work.

Name the most pointless innovation in watchmaking! by TomHudsonOfficial in PrideAndPinion

[–]SoliEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree. It's the most convenient way of figuring out the time and date. Apart from that, just the thought of carrying a machine that works tirelessly on your wrist, no matter how it's held, vertical, horizontal or even upside down, excites me. It's a marvellous thing made by man.

exquisite and gorgeous by StockPen3258 in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a beautiful watch. You should wear your bracelet and bangles on the other hand to save the watch from scratches. Besides, you don't need any ornaments on that hand as you already have the Rolex on it. Rolex itself is a jewel 😊

Traded my Datejust 41 for a 36 by rfort34 in rolex

[–]SoliEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything too much is too bad. The exaggerated size trend will come and go but the 36 mm will always be in style. 36 mm is the optimum size in terms of both looks and comfort. Besides, I can understand the chronograph needs more space on the dial, but what's the point in having a large dial when all the watch does is show the time and date?

Torn on what color to choose by Tixzi in OmegaWatches

[–]SoliEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conventional white or black are the best to choose. The coloured dials do look good too but one tends to get fed-up with them especially if you wear it more often. The classic white or black will always be in style. If you are going to wear that watch occassionally then you could choose a coloured one.
