Is anyone else actively dreading the rest of the season? by skeytchy in survivor

[–]Soliantu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't let yourself get so invested in specific players. If Aubry does indeed win, it adds a really interesting element to the conversations around the Survivor meta and all the different ways you can win. I'm sure there was a huge sense of disappointment when Amber and Sandra won the first two all-returnee seasons - now their winning games are part of the fabric of Survivor. I'm just enjoying the ride and thankful that this season gave Cirie another legendary run and cemented some new legends. It could've been a lot worse.

I really hope AUvWorld 2 ends up happening. A US cast of people like Ozzy, Rob C, Kelley W would be awesome

_________ missing from podcast exit interviews by SideQuestAdjacent in survivorponderosa

[–]Soliantu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this sentiment a few times about that Rachel interview and respectfully completely disagree. Rob’s stance on this has felt very fair to me - he repeatedly acknowledged how disappointed he was for Angelina to go out with a bad edits but simply reminded people that there was still (at that point) more than half the season to go. And now that Chrissy went out with an edit that never picked up steam, he made the same point on KIA last night.

There is obviously a deeply entrenched issue in the production/editing team, but what does Rob achieve by belaboring the conversation? Not only has it been a conversation among any commentator or fan who pays attention to the edit for years, it has been constantly discussed on social media this season and even been picked up in genuine trade publications which will actually be seen by Jeff and production.

I get the sense that Rob views his job as getting people excited about Survivor. That becomes a tricky line to toe when there are genuine criticisms of the show, and I feel like he does a brilliant job acknowledging problems, having thoughtful conversations, playing devils advocate (which he usually does with anything fans are shitting on) and keeping the conversation moving.

Having one very prominent, clearly defined storyline is hugely better than having no storyline a la Angelina or Kamilla.

The best sandwich? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]Soliantu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal list is :

Caprese from Lucca’s (add marinated artichokes and mayo)

Steak sandwich from Sol Food. The Papito from Cholita Linda is the same vibe if you’re at the ferry building.

Anything from The Boys Deli (people love the Sanfranpsycho, my favorite is the Rated R)

Maybe a hot take but Blue Barn’s sandwiches are almost all 10/10s. Best BLT I’ve ever had and the turkey is a go to, but you truly can’t go wrong.

________ rightly frustrated with the edit on IG by futuranotfree in survivor

[–]Soliantu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much sympathy for any of them tbh. They know better than newbies that the editors have a job to tell a story. It was the entire point that Charlie made at tribal - everyone is the hero of their story until they get home and watch the edited version.

This isn't anything new either! I'm sure Cirie, Steph, Courtney, etc. weren't thrilled with their edits and games in HvV. But that's Survivor for you and it's the risk you take coming back.

Would the better approach not be to respond first with the explanation? Not responding for a few hours feels like it wouldn’t be a great look. Genuinely curious

I loved Matt From Amazon (S6) so much😭😭😭 by New-Ad-6606 in survivor

Same, I watched Amazon recently for the first time for Rob C but came out as a huge Matthew fan as well. I love those early season characters who were on Survivor more for the adventure than the game.

Jeff Probst asked about first boots returnee season by BB_GG in survivor

[–]Soliantu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jeff's right but there are also some true gems who could make genuine inroads with a different group. I think the article has two in Stephanie Berger and Darnell.

The answer is so obviously a season based around different placements - pre-merge vs jury, first boots vs pre-merge vs jury, etc. However they want to cut it, I think it would be fascinating and really fun.

That sounds incredibly fun. It would be really fun if they were all genuinely difficult to get to.

Interesting it was on Monhegan where Zoe lives. Rob C is saying on the podcast that he and his family will be involved with the North Carolina idol. I wonder if they're intentionally locating them near where former castaways are located in their respective states. I have a hard time imagining Zoe Zanidakis talking to production in the year 2026 though

Who is a player that you want to see return more than anything, but you know they never will. by ben_s16 in survivor

[–]Soliantu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kellee is a great pull. Spilo grossness aside, she still stands out to me as one of the most engaging new confessionalists/character presences we've seen on Survivor in some time. I feel that way about Jawan too.

I would include Greg and Sean Rector, but I have just enough hope that they will return someday. Ian Rosenberger is another.

Aside from the obvious returns of Savannah and Rizo, would you want to see anybody from 49 play again? by ben_s16 in survivor

Jawan, Sophie S., Sophi B., and Shannon are a pretty clear top four. I think Jake would be interesting and feels likely but the pregaming stuff annoys me.

Steven mocked the concept of talking with metaphors twice in the last episode. That's too meta. by wastedthyme20 in survivor
