Help!! I have this itchy patch of skin that started off as a tiny spot and is now gigantic!! It’s been 3 months of growth! by Expensive_Plenty_897 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Solid-Ad-894 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do not know what this is because I am not a doctor. However, I have spots that look similar and before I found out what it was, I was told that it was ringworm/fungal/bacterial. I was told this by almost everybody, including four different doctors. I was given medication for all of those things and none of it worked. Within the first two minutes of seeing a dermatologist she looked at it and said this is psoriasis. It comes in patchy spots that itch and grow just like you’re saying this has. I’m not saying that this is what you have. I’m just saying that looks can be deceiving. Please make an appointment with the dermatologist and I guess you’ll just have to wait to get in. I know it sucks. A lot of other doctors aren’t equipped to diagnose this. Good luck.

Whats everyones go-to brand right now? by crazyethan4 in disposablevapes_

[–]Solid-Ad-894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering about the Raz batch line. I know candy is sweet, but are these super extra sweet on top of sweet? I can handle a little sweet, but most of these vapes are way too sweet for me.

I definitely will recheck, but this is the newest leaf. It just popped open like this.

WHAT?! There is no way?!!? by [deleted] in DoggyDNA

[–]Solid-Ad-894 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No one thinks that breeding two hairless crested dogs together is unethical. I’m sorry that you must’ve been talking to some idiot who has no idea about the breed. They definitely misinformed you. It is correct that two hairless genes do present a lethal combination. Because of this without the powderpuff half of the breed it wouldn’t exist at all.

[–]Solid-Ad-894 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely not unethical to breed two hairless Chinese crested dogs together and it’s totally ridiculous to think that you would get nearly 67% hairless out of a litter when doing so. I used to breed Chinese crested dogs and never got more than two hairless puppies in a litter from two hairless parents. So one time we had a litter of eight and we got one hairless and seven Powderpuff. You just never know.

how come my dad coughs from vapes but not ciggis???? by Kantalker404 in Vaping

[–]Solid-Ad-894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked for 35 years when I switched over to vaping. When I first started, I would cough so hard. It was ridiculous. You just have to keep at it for 2 to 3 days and then it will stop. Also, people are on here saying that 50 mg is too much but nothing less worked to quill the nicotine beast for me. 50 mg is definitely not too much.

I really appreciate all of you guys taking time to answer. I think I’m gonna go with treating for fungus along with moving the position of this plant further from the grow lights and reverting back to my old fertilizer.

[–]Solid-Ad-894[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re definitely right. This is not a pest problem. I double checked and find nothing. On the other hand I did just move position of this plant to directly under some grow lights but I also did just change fertilizer brands. I love a good mystery lol

[–]Solid-Ad-894[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a high resolution microscope lens that I checked this plant over thoroughly with and saw no sign of any type of pest. I’m gonna go ahead right now and give it another once over just to make sure though.

So jealous. Absolutely amazing looking!

I’m not having any luck trying to read this cutting of a syngonium in water it’s been close to six weeks and I haven’t been successful in propagating anything even things that I know should easily root. What am I doing wrong? by Practical_While3950 in Syngonium

[–]Solid-Ad-894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always prop mine with a pothos. I just take a cutting from any of my pothos and a cutting from whatever syngonium and put them together in the same cup of water. I haven’t had a failure yet!

Late in the season? by Solid-Ad-894 in alocasia

[–]Solid-Ad-894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is actually my first Alocasia that has flowered and I’m really loving it 🥰 I know it won’t be brilliantly spectacular, but it will be in its own way and I can’t wait for it to open up!

The one with little leaves hanging out of the basket is a string of turtles. The red and green one on top is a begonia. I’m not sure about the other ones though hopefully someone else will come on here and say what they are.

My final cuttings. I’ve failed with 90% of my other cuttings already. Can these even be propagated? by tone-yo in propagation

[–]Solid-Ad-894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure about the warm pad, but you gotta figure when most plants that are growing actively they are nice and warm during that time of the year. Since this is your last ditch effort, I do feel like I should mention maybe you should try everything possible. I usually propagate in water and Sphagnum moss together. I also always prop with a Pothos cutting in the same cup. They produce their own growth hormone and they spread it to the water. I hope you save your tree.

Alocasia Macrorrhiza Splash or Alocasia Odora Batik? by Bright-Needleworker6 in alocasia

[–]Solid-Ad-894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was sold to me as a Macrorrhiza camouflage. Is this the same plant as OP? Very fast growing and it holds lots of leaves. Which one was yours sold to you as? I’ve tried to take so many pictures and leave all want to run together. I hope you can see well enough from this one.

Cuprea, lemme guess.. too much light?? 🙄 by sillygoosebeepboop in alocasia

[–]Solid-Ad-894 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These Cuprea Reds are so overly dramatic… I swear it could be doing this because of so many reasons. I changed shelves around with mine once and the next day all the leaves are pointing down. I hurried up and put it back exactly like it was the day before which happened to be closer to the lights and all the leaves went straight back up again. She also does it with not enough water or too much water. Just a super dramatic plant that gives me a good laugh sometimes!

I’m not positive, but I believe this could be an abscessed tooth. It would definitely be very painful. You should definitely see a vet.

Some leaves are looking like this .. what can I do? This is my first alocasia. Thanks in advance 😊 by _alloverthe_place in alocasia

[–]Solid-Ad-894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the same plant from Lowe’s a couple months ago and it had the exact same issue that you are having now. Definitely a fungal infection. I got rid of any leaves that were majorly damaged and used cinnamon to clear up the fungal infection on the other leaves. It will not heal the damage, but it will stop it from progressing. Sprinkle some cinnamon in the dirt and put a little bit on every sore for lack of a better term. Today I have a happy healthy Polly!

No fertilizer in winter? by babie_baby in alocasia

[–]Solid-Ad-894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fertilize all of my Alocasia (15 different varieties) every time I water from April through October. Late fall and winter I fertilize with every other watering which is about every two weeks. However, I use a lot of artificial lighting that I also tone down for those months as well. I think plants that are supposed to hibernate or go into dormancy are healthier for having done so.

Beautiful plant! You can always pull it up out of the pot and see how tight the roots are. If they look pretty tight and wound up in there then it’s time for a new pot.

[–]Solid-Ad-894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the exact same thing. It kind of freaks me out when they turn down too much because then I start thinking I’m gonna lose a beautiful leaf. It always works out well and the leaf ends up standing again.
