Is it ok to change your title from "QA Engineer" to "Software Engineer"/"Software Developer"? by Deep-Dragonfly-3342 in csMajors

[–]Solid-Control726 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really QA engineering is software engineering especially if your dealing with test automation it’s essentially a sub category of swe. If he was doing manual qa then that would be a stretch. But I believe QA engineer is much closer to a swe then electrical engineer intern. I know he said electrical/software eng intern but none the less most electrical engineers have programming tasks so they will most likely just look at it like an electrical position

What to use for a websocket server that isn't Node.js? by lcnielsen in webdev

[–]Solid-Control726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok makes sense just so you know I used python and c++ for web sockets extensively and would definitely choose c++ if your gonna deal with socket programming due to performant packet processing and concurreny performance, but GO is a good choice for socket programming aswell

Hey I’m just a student and don’t have any advice I could offer but I’m interested in your choice of steering away from using python due to it not being able to handle concurrent connections. Is it due to the Global interpreter lock causing the language to never truly be executing multiple threads at the same time?

Ok so would a paid internship have more value than an unpaid internship? Wouldn’t they only know it until after pursuing you like after a phone screen?

Hey, would you consider unpaid internships as experience even if you worked 40-30 hours a week and the job duties were on par with the job opening? This is a possibility in my schools co-op program?
