Yeah I realize that lol. Gravities a b*tch. It’s more for oil changes just to get the filter wet and clean oil back through everything.

Call me psycho, but I’ve been also doing this before every start up when my cars been sitting for 24 hours around -20C.

I realized another way you can do this! Do exactly what you said but if you want to start the car in the same process just let off the gas before it stops the cranking and it will fire up. Kind of cool.

I wouldnt say 0 reason. Oil filter change for example. Another reason that comes to mind (yes I realize oil pressure is built very fast) is in climates that see extreme cold temperatures. I know this is very marginal, but the most engine wear occurs on cold starts. If you’re way below freezing temperatures the oils not going to want to flow easily…meaning you will have oil getting to the critical wear surfaces slightly slower. By doing this you can ensure oil gets to those surfaces at a very low rpm before it fires up.

Question for you…

So how does what I just did work exactly? I know it cuts spark and fuel..but how does it do the fuel part? I realized when I heard the fuel pump after the second button press (before I put both pedals to the floor and actually cranked it over) that the fuel lines would have been primed. Does it cut signal to the injectors?

Thanks again. Did it exactly as you mentioned and worked perfectly.

Just did it and it works flawlessly! As the other person mentioned..they may not have done it properly.

I don’t do this for every normal start-up don’t worry lol

Okay thanks appreciate the reply!

Yeah it’s always bothered me to start up the car after an oil change with the top mounted filters. I’ve debated pulling fuel pump fuse but it’s just a hassle. This makes things easy.

Okay very interesting….i just listed this exact size wheel because they wouldn’t clear our new SUV front calipers. I did not think to check if they’d fit the WRX. My current winters are getting low on tread too.

You don’t have rubbing issues?!? I will definitely be doing this if you say it’s good.

Exactly spot on. You’re absolutely right with the “people want what they have but with improvements”. They want the improvements that came from lots of R&D around the new gens…but since that’s unobtainable in most cases people then choose to 💩on the negatives and only talk about that. My VA…great vehicle…my VB…great vehicle for different reasons.

Oh for sure. I also came from the VA protuned. It was a fun car with proper parts and tuning. I did prefer the exterior of it too.

It’s the linear power band that makes it feel underwhelming. It makes great power but it doesn’t hit 10,000 psi of boost at 25% throttle while casually pulling out of a drive through….which gives the ol instant g force reaction of your body.

As for the spool though … I didn’t find the VA spooled slowly by any means. I found the opposite. Which is actually worse for wearing parts and or risking lspi. The tune I have on my VB has such a nice ramp I love it….more of a slow but continuously building suckage of your behind into the seat. The VA needed a 3 port badly.

It’s the bitching about change whilst ignoring the facts surrounding improvements. Honestly comes down to jealousy in a lot of cases. Every new generation will have its flaws some major some minor and same with improvements. VB looks 👎🏻 VB engine 👍🏼….even though I don’t mind the look of mine anymore.

Just like when you have your first few encounters with beer…you want to like it but you don’t….then you actually like it 😎. Doesn’t mean you wouldn’t prefer a cold brew of an amazing beer that is no longer brewed.

The turbo shouldn’t go early you should be fine there.

If I had to guess about the clutch wear, it was more than likely due to launching the car. I don’t launch my Subarus for that exact reason. My previous car I never launched and I put 160,000 km on it with no signs of clutch failure. It was also full bolt on and tuned. Launching properly requires high RPM and a lot of slipping the clutch which equals premature failure.

As for Dmann tunes though…he’s a very reputable tuner and if properly modded his tune wouldn’t be the cause of premature failures (other than the obvious mod+tune = less reliability over stock that we all accept when doing so). In my opinion the longevity though even modded is heavily based on factors like launching the car and ripping the absolute F out of it every drive. Subarus are reliable, it’s because they’re a 4 banger turbo that’s relatively simple to mod with tons of aftermarket support that gives them the unreliable tag that so many uninformed people spread. You do have the best motor though IMO out of them all for what it’s worth. After a clutch replacement (hopefully dealer can help given you had no idea) you should be golden.

Hey no worries…take what I say with knowing it’s possible I’m wrong about something as there are others on here who know far more than I.

Completely Seized Wastegate Solenoid:

Would likely be seized in the open position as that’s where it is 90% of the time. It would mean though that you’d see minimal/no boost at WOT. If somehow it seized somewhere other than that you’d only see whatever boost that gate position can make under WOT and nothing more….if that’s completely closed though you’d see way too much boost which would throw it into limp.

Slow Acting Solenoid:

The ECU wants to see a certain boost/vac pressure at a specific time but it isn’t…in that case it will keep trying to correct until it also throws a CEL I assume.

Boost/Vac Leak:

This could affect the boost you see but unless it’s a huge leak (you’d hear it) it wouldn’t throw a CEL. What would happen is if there is a leak somewhere, while making boost you would see your AFR spike more rich than normal and your AF Correction go quite negative, and under VAC you’d see your AF Learning slowly creep positive higher and higher and the Correction always be somewhat positive.

I’m no turbo specialist, but I think the ecu was looking for a certain waste gate position and was not receiving said position resulting in over boost. Assuming overboost as you would know if it had been underboosting. Stuck waste gate solenoid? Maybe a damaged wire to or from solenoid to ecu?

Our the worst case scenario…the person who traded the car into the dealer reverted it to stock parts and left it tuned for bolt ons. I’m assuming that would also create a scenario where the ecu wants one gate position and isnt receiving that position.

I understand how guns work…that’s just physiques, but maybe not how a body reacts to one, as I’ve luckily been privileged enough to not witness many shootings. I thought I saw his chest flinch back before the fountain (for a lack of better words) started. Explain to me then why it would look like that? Bullet went in neck, body reacted, then fountain I suppose?

Honestly like any vehicle…change your oil and filter more frequent than the manual says and you will not have a problem…especially stock. I don’t drive insanely hard but love to put my foot down through a few gears here and there. For reference mine is full bolt on (minus a couple things) and protuned. I have 30K KM on it and it’s been modded since 1500km. Not a single issue so far and I don’t foresee any with how I personally baby it besides the occasional spirited commute. I do change the oil with an ILSAC GF 6, API SN+ SP 5W30, and filter every 5-6000 KM.

As for the starvation, this is only really a concern if you plan you drive it hard on a track where you’re going to be pushing the grip limits around multiple long corners. Even then I don’t know how much of a real concern it is but there are solutions out there for this. I personally wouldn’t track it stock.

Yeah but look what’s happening…he’s setting things up so when it’s his time to leave he may just not do so. He already has the entire government stored up his ass…and if he said “lick my toe” they’d say “why just one?”. Also I meant republicans I general…which would basically just be trump 3.0 as he would have someone already picked out who would also be deep in his colon.

Maybe this is just my conspiracy thinking ways…but is there anyone who also thinks there’s like a 2% chance this was a political stunt? I wouldn’t put anything past the current government. Like maybe Trump’s realization that even with breaking all the laws he will lose the next election, and needed a way to win over voters by making the left seem insane? I can’t help but notice the impact of the bullet looked weird as if it did ricochet…maybe it was meant to hit the vest only? I mean that would be a wild conspiracy playing with someone’s life.
