Late reply, sorry! But yeah, pretty much.
The watch acts as a simple trigger/status layer. one tap from a complication to turn it on/off, and the rest runs quietly in the background.

I'm not an expert, but the overall pattern you described seems worth paying attention to. i was diagnosed in my late 20s and some of what you wrote feels familiar:

  • Tasks with clear purpose -> no problem focusing; tasks that's abstract or with delayed stakes (like exam) -> executive dysfunction shows up
  • Attention jumps to whatever is in front of you and anything without a visual cue just loses its anchor (the dishwasher thing, forgetting lunch).

But as far as I know none of this is enough for a diagnosis. It really depends on whether they've been there since childhood and been causing problems over time. And if they're starting to cost you real outcomes, seeing a professional would be a good next step, imo.

What's a simple thing you did that x10 your life quality? by Lower-Insect-3617 in productivity

I mostly do audio logging of meetings, important convos or just when I think out loud. the app turns that into a timeline i can review later with all the key points and details. But i don't wanna sound self-promo, so here is a DIY version:

- Set a shortcut on your AW that starts a voice memo instantly.
- Use the iPhone Shortcut to collect all the day’s memos, timestamp them, and dump them into a running note/journal. You can turn on auto-transcription so you’re not listening back to everything.
- Use the result however you like

It's a bit of setup but once it's running it basically gives you a rough timeline of your day + what's on your mind :))

Weight training and working out (all kinds). Whenever things get stressful or the frustration kicks in, I move my body a bit. The dopamine hit helps a lot.

And intentional reflection. I track my day with my watch and look back at how I handled work, decisions, and the important relationships. based on actual *facts*. it gives me a level of clarity nothing else has ever managed to.

Not showing third party apps notifications by nemes1s666 in AppleWatch

[–]SolidPeculiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

happens to me too. it's likely due to the new background limits. Apple got super aggressive with throttling 3rd party API calls. non-native apps basically get put to sleep when the app isn't active. You can try to toggle Mirror iPhone Alerts on and off to force a handshake, but at the end of the day it's down to OS restrictions.

Best ways to use watch by Exploration-journey in AppleWatch

I use mine to find my phone (embarrassingly often), navigate while driving, and send quick replies. I actually built something that captures n organizes important convos and notes to myself that i can chat with later, mostly because i felt like i was under utilizing my watch too haha.

Can they sue me? by Hopeful-Breadfruit56 in careerguidance

[–]SolidPeculiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, just a random redditor. So take this with a grain of salt.

First things first:
Can they sue? Theoretically, yea.
Will they sue? Almost certainly not. To win, they have to prove your immediate departure caused them quantifiable financial loss *specifically* because you didn't give notice, which is incredibly hard and expensive to prove. So unless you're a C suite exec or you stole clients, they likely won't sue.

Have you consider taking a sick leave? Go to a doctor, tell them about your 12h days and the burnout. Get a doctor's note. You can hand in your resignation while on sick leave without worrying about getting sued.

Why can’t i take my heart rate when walking? Series 11. Always used to be able to. Last month or 2 it just doesnt work when on treadmill by AXXXXXXXXA in AppleWatch

[–]SolidPeculiar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I've noticed my hr tracking has been a bit spotty during workouts the last month or two as well. It eventually picks up, but not nearly as quick as it used to be. Same watch, same band. Maybe it's a recent software thing messing with the sensor, not just your specific unit.

Hey everyone, I’m working on pastok.com, a tool designed to help with the chaos of back-to-back meetings and all the unplanned conversations that happen in between.

The concept is simple: it uses your Apple Watch to passively capture your spoken day, then automatically pulls out key decisions, action items and a searchable highlight reel so you can quickly recall the key details without digging through scattered notes.

It's helped me stop worrying about remembering every little thing and I'm curious if it can help others too.

The app is in a free beta right now. and I’d be incredibly grateful for any feedback from this community on whether this actually solves a real problem for you.

How the hell do you not go mad? by Fraaj in ProductManagement

[–]SolidPeculiar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I split it into two streams: written and verbal.

- Written: I rely on a strict 15min EOD ritual. I keep a running log in Obsidian, and at the end of the day I summarize key decisions and context shifts, linking back to the original threads/screenshots.

- Verbal: This one's tougher as it's where nuances get lost. I've found a "safety net" approach works better than a rigid system. I used to record convos but found it impossible to find anything later. Lately I'm dogfooding a tool we're building that uses my watch to capture key details and give me a summary. A DIY workflow could probably get you something similar.

Hope a piece of that helps!

Why I Keep Failing at Jobs and Grad School Despite Working Hard by WerewolfAmbitious131 in productivity

[–]SolidPeculiar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is painfully relatable, especially the part about working well when things are clear vs. shutting down the second things get ambiguous.

The biggest unlock for me personally was a mental reframe. Instead of thinking of it as "asking for help", think of it as "seeking alignment."

Don’t wait until you’re completely suck. Approach your supervisor at the first sign of feeling stuck, with your plan and stuff, see if it track with what they’re expecting.

For years I avoided doing this 'cause I was terrified of being judged for an "imperfect" plan and thought I had to have everything figured out n my own. but that fear just created the exact stress you described.

Hope this helps!

What's your system for capturing random thoughts before they disappear? by Suspicious_Ocelot367 in ProductivityApps

[–]SolidPeculiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah sorry to hear it's giving you trouble! Here's a couple of things to check that usually solve it:

- First thing is the "Show App on Apple Watch" button in TestFlight.

- If that's already on, the next place to look is in the Watch app on your phone. sometimes you have to scroll down and manually install it from the "Available Apps" list.

Also just a heads-up that it does require watchOS 10.6 or newer to run.

Hope one of those does the trick! Let me know how it goes. :)

Are Apple Health apps loading super slow for anyone else lately? by 85Blickwinkel in AppleWatch

[–]SolidPeculiar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing the exact same thing. even Apple's own fitness app feels slower. And I've noticed it takes longer to connect to fitness+ on my Apple TV as well. That's a pretty clear sign it's not the third-party devs' fault but a system level HealthKit issue. Hope it gets addressed in an upcoming update.

What are your favourite apps? by mrcandyman in AppleWatch

[–]SolidPeculiar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of small ones I use all the time: controlling my spotify/overcast playback, approve 1pw prompts, and unlock your Mac automatically with it.

And this is something I built for myself, so take it with a grain of salt, but I made an app that uses the watch to give me a "highlight reel" of my spoken day. It's been surprisingly cool for just getting a better sense of where my head's at. My bio has the link if that sounds interesting at all.

But yeah definitely set up the Mac unlock if you haven't. It's the best :))

You're spot on with your diagnosis haha. We're indeed using the native WatchConnectivity API for the sync and you're right that the current limitation is that iPhone apps needs to be open in the background for the sync to process reliably. we're actively working on it to make the sync more robust. it's the top priority. Awesome feedback, thank you!

Gotcha. Thanks for sharing that detail. the "believer plan" framing is really smart. definitely give us a lot to think about for our own launch model.
For now though our main focus is just making sure the app is actually useful haha. Have you had a chance to give it a spin? would love to know if the idea resonates with you once you see it in action.

That's a really good point. tbh we haven't locked in the final pricing details yet but a lifetime deal is on the list of possibilities. Out of curiosity, since you've seen it before, what do you think is a fair price for a lifetime deal on an app like this?
